This is just an idea that I had, though some of it has been borrowed from other ideas so let me know what you think!

The opening cinema begins with Scorpion and the Dragon King as the DK uppercuts Scorpion through the ceiling of his sanctuary and out onto the roof. A ghostly voice chimes in: "In yet another battle against evil, the true champion of the Gods became the chosen one." Scorpion gets up and rips his mask off, showing a flaming skull underneath. He groans in a demon voice, shaking the cobwebs from his head. He looks forward as the DK flies up through the celing and lands with a thud, cracking the roof shingles beneath him. Lightning and thunder crackle in the background.

The two charge at one another and battle. After moments, Scorpion throws his spear at the DK, piercing him through the chest. The DK is pulled towards Scorpion, but the DK uppercuts Scorpion to the ground. The rain begins to pour, and the DK lifts up Scorpion at the end of the roof. Scorpion's head is no longer flaming. The voice chimes in. "But he could not defeat the menace of the Dragon King alone." A figure forms behind the DK out of the wind. It's Fujin. He throws a small tornado at the DK, ripping through the roof shingles. The DK tumbles to the side of the roof, holds on by one claw, and pulls himself back up. Scorpion looks over at Fujin, and his head once more blazes with fire. The three circle one another momentarily before the Dragon King doubles over in pain and explodes. The two warriors fall to the ground (on the roof). They get up to find a ghostly figure of a man dressed in white. He looks like a king, and he's an elder God. He speaks (he is the ghostly voice). "No longer can the Gods stand idly by and watch as Earths warriors fail. Humans are weak creatures, easily tempted and corrupted. The time of the awakening has arrived. This world will be clensed, and everything..." The elder God looks at Fujin who turns his head away. The Elder God looks angry as he moves a hand and throws a powerful jolt of energy at Fujin, who flies off of the roof and screams. The voice. "Will begin anew." The ghostly figure turns his head to Scorpion, who bows at the feet of his new master. The Elder God walks/glides over to Scorpion and touches his skull. Scorpion gets up and grabs at his skull, which begins to grow blood vessels, muscle tissue, eyeballs etc. The screen goes black. The voice comes in. "The time of mortals." The screen comes back, with Scorpion/Hanzo, who has a human face and long grey hair, but his eyes are black and swirling. The voice "Has passed."

Basically, the story is that the Elder Gods have come to the conclusion that human beings are too weak to defend their own realm. They are too prone to corruption and failure (especially when it came to Shang Tsung, Shao Khan, Shinnok, Quan Chi, and the DK) that they are not fit to defend the realm that the Gods created. So they must act, not through emissaries such as Rayden or Fujin, but themselves. They must start everything over. Rayden has reached this conclusion himself, and has allied with the Elder Gods. Scorpion, now an elder God himself, has his black and yellow colors, but he looks more majestic and less like a ninja. Fujin does not agree with the Elder Gods, and he goes to gather humans and demons, good and evil, to destroy the Elder Gods.

Characters:

Good:

Fujin: The leader of the resistance, Fujin must gather together a group that is strong enough to resist his former superiors. He now stands devided between protecting Earth and leaving his former existence behind. He'll find it very difficult to wage a war against those that he once worshipped.

Sub Zero: With the second Sub-Zero's age, coupled with a near death experience at the hands of his brother Noob and former friend Smoke, a new Lin Kuei ninja dons the mask of the ice warrior. Trained by the second Sub Zero, this new ninja chooses to fight on the side of Earth. He is young and inexperienced, but his powers and passion will be of great aid to Fujin and the Earth Warriors. He must put aside his seething hatred of the Shinrai Ryu and focus if he is to save the world.

Shao Khan: With the Elder Gods taking an active role, Khan chooses to fight along side Fujin for control of Earthrealm. The former emperor knows that If he is ever to realize his dreams of conquering Earth, the Elder Gods must be out of the way. However, it would bode even better for Shao Khan if both sides destroyed one another. He is not to be trusted.

Ermac: Having seen the threat of the Elder Gods, Ermac once more seeks redemption for his past crimes against humanity. He finds it difficult to trust the former emperor of Outworld, but they must all work together if they are to succeed.

Jerrod: Awakened by his wife Sindel, King Jerrod enters the fray with many motives. He wishes to repay the Earthrealm warriors for freeing his land from Shao Khan and the Dragon King as well as for protecting his wife and releasing her from Khan's control. He also wishes to halt the Elder Gods efforts, because surely the Gods won't stop at one realm. Indeed, he feels that the Gods mean to unmake reality, and will work tirelessly with allies and old ememies alike to see that this never happens.

Kira: A loyal member of the Black Dragon, Kira's devotion to Kabal is tested when he chooses to side with the Elder Gods. She believes that the Gods mean to spare no one, and that the clan would be better served helping out Earth's warriors. She now spies for Fujin and his group; a very risky proposition.

Jade: Ever the protector and watcher for Edenia, Jade makes her way to Earthrealm on Queen Sindel's orders. She is to assist King Jerrod in vanquishing the Elder Gods, and protect him from the scheming of Shao Khan and his allies.

Kai: Upon learning of the Liu Kang's demise, Kai relinquished his status within the White Lotus society in order to train for the coming of the Deadly Alliance. The arrival of the Dragon King was unexpected, but much more so was the betrayal of the Elder Gods. He sides with Fujin and trains with master Bo Rai Cho. Kai knows that if the world is to survive, he must somehow convince Kung Lao to lead Earth's warriors against the coming storm.

Hasaan: Wanderer, begger, thief, Al Hasaan Mujiv has wandered the harsh Sahara desert for most of his young existence. Trained to survive by nomad gypsies, he fought in the local tournaments for others' amusement. Battlescarred but undefeated in several years, he draws the attention of Fujin, the God of Wind. For the first time ever, Hasaan has a clear purpose in life.

Evil:

The Elder: The corporial manifestation of the Elder Gods, this high being seeks the destruction and renewal of Earthrealm. Seeing mortals as flawed and unable to defend themselves from the temptations of evil, the Elders will provide Earth with one final chance to prove the all-knowing ones wrong. (nonplayable boss of the game)

Rayden: As the Thunder God, Rayden had seen the horrors that man visits upon themselves first hand. Having been made an Elder God, Rayden must destroy those that he once swore to protect. Only time will tell whether he is able to get over the death of Liu Kang and the folly of Shujinko. (sub boss)

Hanzo: The demon once known as Scorpion has been made into a God. Promised immortality from their leader, the remaining members of the Shinrai Ryu will stand united against home realm. (3 characters, endurance match. Only Hanzo/Scorpion is playable)

Ashrah: Using the sword of the Elder Gods, the demon Ashrah faught her way out of the Netherworld by defeating Moloch and Drahmin. As a reward, she has been given more power and a position within the heirarchy of the Gods. She is a general in the war against Earthrealm and a trusted ally of the Elders.

Kabal: Under the leadership of Kabal and his lover Kira, the Black Dragon has swelled in numbers. However, where riches, death and destruction were once the way for these thugs, the Elders have promised something much greater in return for their services: Their continued existence.

Gorbak: King of the Shokan race of Outworld for thousands of years, Gorbak grieves with the loss of his son Goro, the only heir to his throne. Convinced by Rayden that both his son and nephew Kintaro died at the hands of mortals, Gorbak seeks to end them all, even if it means the destruction of his own people. Only Rayden knows the truth of Kintaro's demise.

Nestaros (name is just a place filler): Commander of the vampire armies of Outworld, Nestaros has made a truce with the Elder Gods. His armies will assist the Gods in destroying Bo Rai Cho's Earthrealm/Edenian armies. In exchange, the Gods will make the vampires their emissaries to Outworld, effectively making Nestaros the emperor. They will also provide him with an unwilling queen: Nitara.

Laurelai: The one time concubine of Shinnok, Laurelai is more of a muse than an actual Goddess. Still, her power to tempt the feeble hearts of man into doing her bidding makes her a strong ally of the Elders. Though her insatiable beauty may make her an asset, her strength and steel make her invaluable.

Neutral:

Rain: The former Edenian general retired shortly before the war against the Deadly Alliance. His armies, now led by Bo Rai Cho, waged a war against the Dragon King. He receives a vision one night of the Elder Gods, armies of Shokans and vampires and of the destruction of Edenia. However, a horrible secret is revealed when he visits the chambers of Princess Kitana. Branded a traitor by the masked princess, he is hunted by the Edenian armies into Outworld territory. He must remain in the shadows if he hopes to survive.

Noob: The demon king of the Netherealm, Noob Saibot continues to search for more allies to bring into the fold. He seeks Earthrealm for himself, and will defy the Elders and the mortals in an effort to dominate his former plain. It is not surprising then that in his efforts, he will find another old ally to wage war with.

Sareena: In love with the original Sub-Zero, Sareena pledges loyalty to the shadow demon she once knew as human. She will brave the current strife in Earthrealm if it means sitting next to him on their throne as queen. She does not understand the human struggle with the Gods.

Kung Lao: A man torn between loyalties, Kung Lao must make many choices. Does he choose the Elders, who he has devoutly worshiped his entire life? Or does he choose Earth, his temples, and his friends? More importantly, will Kung Lao ever embrace his destiny and don the mantle of champion?

Shang Tsung: When Rayden released his Godlike essence in a failed attempt at stopping the Dragon King, the demon sorcerer Shang Tsung was nearly killed. Recooperating in the Wastelands of Outworld, many souls escaped from his open wounds and he once more aged back into the old man he once was. Now healed, Tsung returns to Earthrealm seeking vengence against Rayden. The fate of Earthrealm means nothing to him.

Wraith: A former member of the Brotherhood of the Shadow, the enigmatic Wraith served at the mercy of Quan Chi. Though his master is missing and presumed dead, Wraith travels the realms in search of his leader. During his travels, he comes across a man taking his dying breaths. The man offers information about Quan Chi in exchange for his rescue. Wraith agrees, and carries the man to a safety. The Black Dragon will not be pleased.

Hidden characters

Sektor: After a near death battle with Sub Zero, the robotic assassin returns, stronger than ever. He will ally himself with his former friend Noob Saibot in an effort to control the Earthrealm. With his newfound powers and abilities, he intends to create a world of souless death and destruction. He will not be as easily manipulated by Noob as his friend Smoke.

Kano: On the run from Sonya Blade's government agency, Kano finally returns to his Black Dragon. However, he soon realizes that the group's loose loyalties reside with their new leader. A power struggle between the two is inevitable, and Kano will find a resource in this battle from the unlikliest of places.

Mavado: Found bleeding to death by a mysterious stranger, the leader of the Red Dragon gets a second chance at life. After an embarassing defeat at the hands of Kabal, Mavado seeks his hook swords, his pride, and vengence. If Wraith can help him get back to Earthrealm, the Red Dragon will wage the final war on the desserters.

Smoke: In a covert mission to the Netherworld, LK unit 6T6 was shut down and reprogrammed by a young man who called himself Sub-Zero. They escape to Earthrealm, where they are greeted by a familiar face. However, his robotic exoskeleton is now giving way to malfunctions with the many years of abuse. If Smoke is to continue living, he must seek out two government agents that can help him regain his soul. Only then does he stand a chance at becoming human once more. (alt costume a human smoke that looks somewhat like a ninja with a robitic arm.)

I know the stories and names for Hasaan, Nestaros, Laurelai and Wraith aren't that great, but they were just off the top of my head. I was more or less trying to create what was going on and how all of these characters could fit into this plot. What do you think?

There are some very good ideas there, and I like the basic plot of having the Elder Gods decide that humanity isn't good enough to defend itself. Nice to see Scorpion increasing his role as Elder Gods champion, rather than yet another revenge quest.Plus, Haasan, Nestaros and Laurelai seem like interesting characters. Any plans to go into more details about them?

I don't think there should be another new Sub Zero though, especially with the current one gaining such major developments right now, and Jerrod should probably just stay a side story character. Just my opinions.

Thanks for the thoughts Red-Dragon, they are much appreciated. I put Hasaan, Nestaros, Laurelai and Wraith in as place holders mainly. I just wanted to have a full, rounded out cast, and show how they could all work with one another. I also thought that it'd be very cool to have Earth versus the Gods, where Fujin chooses humanity and Rayden does not. I also thought that it'd be interesting to see certain evil characters fighting on the side of good. Would the alliances last? Can Shao Khan be trusted? What about Kira?

I liked the idea of having King Jerrod in there simply because I thought that it'd be interesting to see what would happen between him, Shao Khan, Jade, and Rain. I thought that it would be cool to see whether these characters, some of whom once served Shao Khan, and some of whom are his sworn enemies working on the same side. That's why I brought Jerrod back.

As for the new characters I made up, I wanted to have an ambitious vampire, a sexy but deadly goddess (since the Gods are basically the villains there might as well be more than one or two in the game), another member of the Brotherhood of the Shadow, and my favorite idea: A nomad done with a Middle Eastern style.

I also wanted to rekindle the rivalry between the Black Dragon and the Red Dragon. I think that Mavado has potential, but he wasn't very well realized as a character in MK:DA due to his lacking in moves and specials. Would Mavado try to bring Wraith into the Red Dragon? Will Wraith ever locate Quan Chi? Or will has path be diverted to a different destiny? Will Kano retake his position of leader of the Black Dragon? Will Kira choose her love for Kabal, the Black Dragon, and the Elders or does she believe that they will be destroyed by the Gods, and choose to defend Earthrealm instead? I thought that a plot like this could go a long way in revitalizing the storyline of the Black Dragon.

I also wanted to have some good characters either turn evil or deal with issues of divided loyalty. Ashrah, Rayden and Kung Lao definitely fall into this category. Then of course, it's important to have the fringe characters who have their own agendas. Noob, Sareena, Sektor, Smoke, etc fall into this category. I tried to include alot of characters that people wanted to see again. My main goal was to have the highest of the mighty, hence Shao Khan, King Gorbak, King Jerrod, Rayden, Fujin, and some others in the game fighting on both sides. This would be the ultimate clash between good and evil, and both sides hold together shaky alliances and everyone has their own goals and motivations. Who will turn against their alliance? Who will serve their own ambitions?

Anyways, if you Red-Dragon, or anyone else has thoughts on this plotline please feel free to compliment, ask, or criticize!

Oh, and Red Dragon, I'll work on fleshing out the stories of Wraith, Hasaan, Laurelai and Nestaros. Let me know what you think.

Wraith:

Alignment: Neutral
Allies: Quan Chi, Noob, Sareena, Mavado
Enemies: Sub-Zero, Kabal, Kano
Fighting Styles: Ninjitsu and Vo Binh Dihn
Description: I picked ninjitsu because the Brotherhood of the Shadow tend to remain behind the scenes and out of sight. Ninjitsu focuses on spying and I thought it went well with the story. Vo Binh Dihn focuses on defending ones self by using larger enemies advantages against them.
Weapon: Lance
Special moves:

Powder toss: He throws a small bag of white powder at opponent, it hits them in the face and blinds them temporarily. (mid/long range)

Explosive powder toss: He throws a small bag of red powder at opponent, it hits them and explodes, knocking opponent back and to the ground. (mid/long range)

Invisibility: He turns invisible and remains that way until he is struck by his opponent. (mid/long range)

Teleport throw: He teleports to the enemy and heaves them up into the air for a quick 3 hit combo which must be entered manually. (long range)

Triple kick: He jump kicks the opponent up into the air before kicking them with the other leg while still in the air. He ends with a third kick that sends the opponent crashing to the ground while he flips backwards and lands on his feet. (close range)

Hasaan:

Alignment: Good
Allies: Fujin
Enemies: The Elder
Fighting Styles: Sebekkha, Kan Zen Ryu
Description: Sebekkha is an Egyptian martial art, which obviously goes with the fact that this character travels that region. Kan Zen Ryu is an ever evolving form of attack and defense.
Weapon: Shamshir Schimitar
Special Moves:

Move steal: It can only be done in Kan Zen Ryu stance. Hasaan glows red and clenches his fist. A voice chimes in with the special move that he has learned from his opponent. He can now use that move for the duration of the match. Limit one move per match. (any range)

Frankensteiner: Flips forward with legs landing on opponents shoulders, he flips backward throwing opponent behind him. (mid/close range)

Schimitar projectile: He quickly pulls his sword out and holds it up to his face with both hands. It glows orange, and sends an orange projectile in appearance of his sword hurling end over end at his opponent. If it hits, it stabs them in the chest and discentegrates. (mid/long range)

Flip uppercut: He does a backflip and uppcercuts the opponent into the air with his feet. (close range)

Laurelai:

Alignment: Evil
Allies: The Elder, Rayden, Ashrah
Enemies: Fujin, Jerrod, Kung Lao
Fighting Styles: Mei Hua Quan (Plum Blossom Fist) and Ta Hao (White Crane)
Description: I figured that both styles sound beautiful enough to match with what I envision this character being. Fluid movements, solid positioning, and movement in waves. Beautiful but strong basically.
Weapon: Golden whip
Special moves:

Whip grab: She whips at her opponent and it wraps around their waist. She pulls herself toward them and kicks them in the face. (long range)

Fire of the Gods: She holds her hand to the sky and it rains fireballs down on opponent. (mid/long range)

Projectile evade: She fades into a whitish ghost look and is invulnerable to projectle attacks for about ten seconds. (any range)

Double punch: She knocks opponent down with a hard punch and knocks them back up into the air with an uppercut automatically. (close range)

Magic Dust: She puts her hand in a satchel that she has around her waist and flings white, sparkling dust at them, turning them into another fighter for a short period of time. (mid/close range)

Nestaros:

Alignment: Evil
Allies: Nitara, Gorbak, Rayden, The Elder
Enemies: Fujin, Shao Khan, Hasaan, Rain
Fighting Styles: Dim Mak and Marma Adi
Description: Dim Mak (death touch) focuses on killing blows and stunning blows as well as pressure points. Marma Adi focuses on nerves. Since I see this character as deceitful and a one who would backstab, I thought that these styles would work well for him.
Weapon: Lantern (A thick chain held in one hand that goes over his neck to the other hand which has a lit, gothic style lantern hanging at the end)
Special moves:

Fire breath: He pulls lantern up to his face and blows fire at opponent. (Close/Mid range)

Lantern grab high: Throws chain and lantern towards opponents neck, the chain wraps around and he pulls opponent closer. (Close/Mid/Long range)

Lantern grab low: Throws chain at opponents feet, it wraps around and he turns back to opponent and throws opponent and chain over his shoulder. (Mid/Long range)

Blood Breath: Nitara's blood spit move from MK:DA (Mid/Long range)

Wing Slice: He rotates, throwing one of his wings out and slicing the enemy with its tips. (Close range)

Very good stuff Baraka407. I really like your choice of less well known martial arts for these characters. Laurelai and Nestaros sound like really cool villains, and I like the idea behind Hassan. MK could do with more variety in character nationalities.
