Depending on who you ask, Nightwolf is a racially offensive stereotype.
Now one could argue who isn`t in the game, but with the addition of Erron, a ``cowboy`` type, some online players may ruin the experience for others.
Playing GTA Online, I know damn well what kind of RACIST ASSHOLES everyone seems to be!
Such ignorant children. Kinda like the Twitard who threatened to rape Shaun`s Wife.
This is also why the games say online experience not rated. The game contains only as much vulgarity as the story demands. Random fucks... err, folks in real life are far, faaaar worse.

I think he was left out because he died and isn't popular/important enough to warrant coming back. Not everything has to have a political agenda, especially when more probable explanations are staring you right in the face.

The main reason is because we just CAN ́T have all the characters from the previous game, it has never been this way (except in MK Armageddon).
I think he was left out because he's not a core character. The only unexpected returnee in this game so far is Shinnok.
When it seems Baraka, the Cyborgs, and even Shang Tsung and Noob Saibot won't return, how likely could Nightwolf be to make it in over any of them?

Don't forget Shao Kahn.

I'm quarter blood Native American, and I do agree that his character is a bit stereotypical, but I still love him regardless. He's in my top 3 characters introduced in vanilla MK3, and I loved his gameplay in MK9.
"Ancestors give me strength!" was exactly what anyone would expect his character to say.
I don't think it has much to do with his exclusion though. What still gets me about this whole debacle (and I've said it before), is that of ALL the people Sindel slaughtered in The Church, Nightwolf would have been the one to withstand Quan Chi's hold on his soul. Not only that, but he fucking sacrificed himself. Into a light from the heavens no less.
All of that should have counted for something.

Hello, welcome to the Internet and online gaming...where people are absolutely terrible. This isn't a GTA 5 thing...I've heard horrible things since I first jumped into COD4. People who are able to be anonymous will usually act like fools. Sucks.
But as far as Nightwolf, I don't think it's a Native American potrayal thing...more likely they gave him a rest this game.

Nightwolf is just not really popular character. Which is a pity, since I think he was awesome in MK9. But as it was noted by others, if more acclaimed favorites, like Baraka or Shang didn't made it into MKX, then there is no way someone like Nightwolf had a chance.

Really?! Shinnok was an unexpected returnee? You did see the ending of MK9, right?

I was hoping he would come back, just because he sacrificied himself into that light. And tha fatality would be so great in MKX :).
I liked him in MK9, he is one of my favorite characters to use. Liked his alternate better than his main outfit.

Oh wow, never thought of it like that. Makes me wish Nightwolf was in the game now. *chuckles*

I was referring to your suggestion that they pulled him because they thought he was offensive. That would be catering to a political agenda, and until some Native American Rights group or something complains about how they are represented in the media, I'd be willing to bet this is a complete non-issue that doesn't affect you, but you are still getting very upset over. I hate being rude, but nobody wants to hear your fallacious pries at social justice and cries of oppression when they are based on nothing anybody cares about.
Nightwolf isn't supposed to be a representation of modern-day Native Americans. He is supposed to give the idea of a more primal and yet enlightened being, with a strong connection to spirits and nature, a very recognizable and pretty accurate image of how people view the Native Americans of the past. A lot of people probably know nothing about the most prevalent culture of Native Americans nowadays, but I bet you'd be hard-pressed to find someone (who isn't already obviously an idiot) who actually thinks Native Americans are the same today as they were in the past. Hell, most people probably know them for their casinos.
This isn't an issue, and there is no point in getting enraged over it. The more you think rationally about a lot of perceived issues, the more often you'll find they aren't nearly as bad as you thought. Trust me, I used to be in the exact same boat as you: a flaming social justice warrior with a passion for victimhood, but then I freed myself from the echo chamber of tumblr and started thinking and doing research on these sorts of things, and I began to realize just how misinformed a lot of those people were. I do not mean to insult you, but I do intend to inform you that you tend to get too worked up over things without actually having a reason to do so.

Once they started the resurrected character reveal bombardment, I really was hoping to see Nightwolf. Aside from Kitana and Smoke, he was pretty much the only other one from the church massacre that I wanted back.
He was a tank in MK9. His combos did major damage and they were fun as hell to execute. And I agree, I really really enjoyed his alternate.
If he had returned, I would have wanted to see some fatalities utilizing his Spirit Wolf. Btw, was the wolf ever given a canon name? I know DOTR named her Kiba, but I can't think of any other instances.

Nightwolf is my dude from day one. I hate the racist steriotype arguement. Only a select few native americans can summon lighting and soul weapons. Assuming all of them can is very racist.

In doubt it has anything to do with him being a native warrior stereotype, KI still has their native/Indian guy and Street Fighter does too. I was actually thinking about this last night though, having him and Erron in a game would be perfect for the whole "cowboys and Indians" thing. I'm sure they would have some very interesting dialogue lol

Ya know what? I wouldn't be surprised if you fight Nightwolf as a NPC during Erron's story chapter.
Okay, now I'm excited.

I think all of the revenants will be in Story Mode, but a select few are playable
He got progressively better in terms of development, MK3-MKD-MK9. He really stood out as one of Earthrealm's strongest and wisest warriors. Unfortunately, he suffers from the "not-core mk" curse, which automatically makes him ineligible for MKX. Racial sensitivity, has nothing to do with it, imo.

WTF? I don't think that is a reason why he isn't playable.
