Regarding a potential KP3...

Well, setting aside our feelings in regards to KP2, and thus, whether there should be a KP3 or not, there's still a chance that there could be a KP3 or something similar to that (like Injustice's Manhunter and Zatanna) given that KP2 is slated to be released in the first half of 2016, and the 2nd half is wide open for another pack (It does bear mentioning that a new edition, most likely the Komplete edition of MKX has already been teased by Boon to be released at some point in 2016, so, even if there a third pack, it would most definitely be the last, if that were the case)
Not to mention, WB and NRS always make money out of these packs (especially given all the guests that made it into MKX)

So, let's say there could potentially be one: What are your thoughts on this?
Would you be hyped? or not really looking forward to it?

My honest thoughts: After KP2, I was quite disappointed with the choices made, like most of you were, and as a result, I'm not really looking forward to a potential third pack.
Honestly, should there be a third pack, there's a very high chance we'll have to endure 2 more guests (sigh) and possibly only 1 returning character.
If you wanna discuss KP3 characters,go ahead, honestly i'm not going to comment on possible KP3 characters. As I've said earlier, KP2 just flat out disappointed me.

Well at this point I want them to Stat working on a sequel. But....if a KP3 were to come. Definitely no guest. Hopefully WB doesn't force it. I'd take Fujiin Sereena,Sindel, then maybe the 4th could be between a few other revanants like Kabal, Noob. Shang

Ill take anything I can get it. If they are going to keep supporting the game and releasing new content im happy. I honestly wish they would just skip Injustice 2 and keep supporting MKX similar to how KI has had constant support/new content since 2013.

I doubt we'd get another full pack. However, if they pulled an Injustice on us and gave us just two more characters, they would have to be good to get my attention. For me, those two characters would have to be Fujin & Li Mei.

well, If they were to pull an Injustice on us, about the only combination of characters that could generate any hype from me at this point would be Noob Saibot and Fujin. Market that as an MK4 pack(both were in MK4 after all) and maybe hype the interactions between them (Mythologies) but that's never going to happen.
I know i'll sound downright pessimistic, but I seriously don't have any hope for these two in MKX, and MK11? Even less.

My only thought that they could make up for not having women in the Kombat Pack 2 is by it being 3 females and 1 male in Kombat Pack 3. Li Mei, Sareena, Frost, and Fujin. There you go folks.wink

Fujin is redundant in this game. As much as I like the character, gameplay wise he will be more appreciated in MK11.

No. The ship has sunk. The netcode sunk it and KP2 was the rogue wave that took out the life boats. Also, lets be honest, the variation system sucked. MKA/MKD cheap ass stance change 2.0.

I can't help but to disagree, especially since we're only about two weeks removed from Scar beating Sonic Fox in ESL with "Hat Trick" Lao.

Admittedly the system is lost on most, but that doesn't make the system an outright failure. Couple that with the inevitable patches that will accompany KP2(3?), and I'd say its a viable system.

Also, bring on Injustice 2 AND Swamp Thing!

100% agreed.

The game was already dying due to the atrocious online but factor in that garbage KP2 and this game is done. Any future content for this game shouldn't even be considered at this point. Just move on to Unreal 4, establish a better fucking online infrastructure, and put out a new game to wash the MKX netcode taste out of my mouth.

This is what I personally want, and a lot of fans want. KI is still growing strong, it was made before MKX came out, and continuing to deliver content well after. But WB are money hungry bitches and with their new baby Injustice, their going to milk the cow with Batman V Superman due next year.

It's sad how a smaller company like Iron Galaxy and Double Helix can put out a better online experience than NRS with much more experience with fighting games. MK games have been online since MKDeception in 2004, and still have ass netcode.

See, I think the variation system can work but ONLY if they play to the characters strengths and not this off the wall bullshit they tried to pull with uncharacteristic things and stealing movesets. Not to mention several characters felt incomplete in the variation department and uninspired (Reptile, imo, being the worst offender). Two prime examples I can think of off the top of my head that were unnecessary are;

- Johnny should not have been playable in this game. Not only was he made redundant gameplay wise by Cassie but in order to make him a fully realized character in the moveset department, they had to borrow from Noob. He should have sat out and been strictly an NPC.

- Kenshi having a demon variation was overly bizarre. That should have gone to a character that can actually do demon-y things like Shinnok, Quan Chi, Ashrah or Sareena.

My guess is that a KP3 is EXTREMELY unlikely. They may pull a one-off character, but definitely not a KP3. Frankly I wouldn't be interested in Meat, Donnie Darko, Tri-Shokan and Lori from The Walking Dead anyway,

Oh no, this bullshit again.
Johnny and Cassie share nothing, except for the nut punch, which is executed in a different way.
They are totally different characters.
Johnny was needed to defeat Shinnok, you can't limit that to a cut-scene.


Johnny's clone works differently from Noob's. Noob literally used a doppelganger of himself, Johnny uses projection of his own shadow powers.
To be honest it reminds me more of Kenshi's astral projection that Noob and Saibot.

Almost All the characters have at least one variation that doesn't fit them.

Sonya demolition - Stryker 2.0
Kitana mournful - Jade 2.0
Mileena ravenous - Nitara 1.5
Tanya Dragon Naginata - Hotaru 1.5
Scorpion Inferno - Quan Chi/Shinnok idea recycled
Goro Tigrar Fury - Kintaro 2.0
Reptile Nimble - Flash 2.0 from Injustice
Jax Heavy weapons . Stryker 2.0
Liu Kang dualist - what Nightwolf was supposed to be since the beginning
Ferra & Torr - Moloch & Drahmin, with something of Noob-Smoke.
Tri-borg - literally Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax into one.
Takeda Ronin - Mk Armageddon's Sektor.
Kung Jin ancestral - Green Arrow Injustice
Alien - Baraka's blade


And the similiarities go on.

I just think its better to keep supporting this game right now like KI does, but put out more MK kharacters instead of guest and definitely more stages. Im tired of waiting for another game just to get our favorite kharacters.

She has both of his gimmicks, you forgot the Shadow Kick. When two characters share the exact same gimmicks that are supposed to make a character unique, one needs to go. That's that. As for Johnny being needed for Shinnok, easily could've been Sonya but that's another argument all together.

This is going to sound mean but I can't wait for this game to die. Adding new characters and stages can't save the game or make the netcode good. The online is what keeps the game alive and the netcode is fucked. The reason KI's method works is because the netcode is great. Nobody would want more characters if the online was damn near unplayable.

I just want them to put out KP2, a balance patch or 2, and move the fuck on to whatever else they're working on.
