I've been thinking about this on and off, but lately I've been picking up Tremor a little more, and his ending kinda brings it all back. For those unaware, Tremor's ending actually serves as back story for the elemental brute. On a mission to the dream realm to retrieve an artifact to aid Kano in stealing Shinnok's amulet, exposure to that realm caused Tremor to evolve and his powers to amplify. We are now to believe that Tremor is on the same level as Fujin and Raiden.
Now, ignoring the desperate attempts to make Tremor and his powers important, we find that the Dream Realm was not just a plot device to bring in Freddy for mk9(or maybe it was), but an actual realm. A realm that has artifacts that can help you invade a god's inner sanctum. A realm that can alter or amplify a beings powers.
Perhaps the more interesting thought, is if that realm can more or less bend or break things from Earth Realm to its will, than how powerful would a being FROM that realm be? What would their intentions be?
The realms as you know, are just the One Being's consciousness broken up. Is it possible that the Dream Realm is the bit of the One Being's consciousness where it's power lies? Assuming this, its possible that the Elder Gods cut this realm off specifically for that purpose, hoping to keep everyone out. Sure the Black Dragon got in, but they seem to have the habit of doing that kinda thing.
Needless to say, the Dream Realm(used right) could open up a ton of possibilities. Could the next big bad emerge from there? We all assumed Noob Saibot(if he survived) slipped into the void ala Scorpion in Deadly Alliance. Is it possible he may have ended up there? Could the realm have the same effect on Noob as it did on Tremor? Could the one being possess an entity that stumbles upon that realm, thus giving it an avatar to move through the realms and attempt to take control over it's own destiny?
This is all just me spitballing. Feel free to join in and contribute. Will the Dream Realm serve as MK's next big plot device, or ultimately fall flat like Cassie Cage, Conqueror of Gods?
I'm excited for the possibilities.

I think it's cool that they brought back the Dream Realm. It's probably a forbidden realm with dark energies and uncontrollable powers. It seems to be connected to the other realms too if a demon like Freddy can use it to invade the dreams of people from other realms.
Maybe that's how it works? When people sleep their souls can sometime drift to the Dream Realm where they experience incredible stuff based on their memories and thoughts. The demons of this realm feed on the energy created by these dreams. Since anything is possible, it's a pretty ****ed up place to go when you're not dreaming. Maybe that's how Tremor got his powers. Maybe if your physical body is there you're altered instead of dreaming about it.
I don't think that's where the One Being's powers reside, but maybe the thoughts process that allow us to imagine things. The dark powers that emanates from it forced the Elder Gods to hide its existence, hoping nobody would find it.
On a side note : Scorpion found his way into the void because the Deadly Alliance soulnado was built specifically at this temple since it was an old doorway to the heavens. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi needed the souls for Onaga's army. After Scorpion's physical body was destroyed by the good energy his soul probably swirled around until Shang Tsung died, which caused the souls to go back up into the heavens. Scorpion found his way into the void and was turned into a champion by the elder gods.
Noob Saibot was kicked into a soulnado that was just sending human souls to Outworld. It's a totally different concept.

In the endmost moments of MK, I could see the last boss as the One Being using Elder Gods as vessels to embody physical forms, at different necessary times. This would only be if the Dream Realm was all the realms successfully fused into 1, in another existence. The highest power (the boss) would preserve the special Kamidogu of the Dream Realm or it would be the cessation of MK.

I actually viewed that more as NRS saying "look guys! Your dream come true!", especially because Tremor's ending was such a pandering hand job about him getting super powers, becoming a god on par with the Elders, being able to make asteroids and entire planets into his weapons, etc etc.
He was basically put into the game as fan service, and seeing how his ending is sort of like the pretend stories I used to make up for my He-Man toys back in the 80's, it seems more like making fun of, or at least running with the idea, of ridiculous, excitable fanbase fantasy.

Very true, but I'd say NRS seem to be bending and twisting a lot of Mk staples to fit the vision for the new timeline.

They don't say Dream Realm specifically, but it's heavily implied(dream like state, a different realm, etc.). Good catch on that one. It seems like the Jade/mysterious lady story is gonna be a slow burn. With Jade dying in MK9, and appearing in Kitana's MKX ending(after she awakes...from a dream!), its gotta be building to something. Usually Boon and company are very coy about death in MK, but have been super blunt about Jade's death for a while now. She could very well be possessed by the being from Dream Realm.

Don't think so, her hallucinations while unconscious was in the spirit world but the apparition Jade envisioned had been sent from the Dream Realm or may have something to do with that place.

I know you hate Tremor and his fanbase but the fact you assume NRS hates him as much as you do and only put him in the game to shut the fans up is making a huge assumption.
They gave him the most brutalities of any other character in game, made his dialogue intelligent and articulate, gave him a moveset that puts him at least in top 10 characters tier wise, gave him an ending that explains how he was powerful enough to defeat Shinnok rather than making a potential "what if" like all the other characters and even went as far as to diminish his clown pants after fan response was negative. If they threw him into the game out of frustration to silence the demand do you really think they would have put that much effort into design and balancing?
I don't even understand why you bother posting here, you constantly talk about how much you hate the fanbase and how much more of a "true fan" you are because you played the old MKs at the arcades and hated the 3D era.
On topic. Personally I think the Dream Realm stuff is setting up events for the next game. Could be an interesting way to reinvigorate the story and introduce a new boss that isn't Shang Tsung/Shao Kahn/Shinnok/Onaga

Meee-ow.
Tremor's inclusion was fan service. Don't sit there and tell me Boon wasn't sick to death with getting Tremor tweets every time he posted something. While not every Tremor fan is a slavering lunatic, the ones that harassed him constantly are. I would say the decision to include Tremor in the game as 70% fan service, 30% "shut the fuck up about him already". Why do you think Fujin and Sareena are likely next up on the list of DLC, if not main roster for MKXI?
Yes, he does have the most brutalities in the game, and they are probably the best of the bunch too, because they are all very unique to his character. His fatalities are pretty good too. Had they done any less, people would've complained Overall playwise he's not really my type of character. Storywise, he was simply a DLC character that had no impact on the story, like
Predator and Jason. His ending, like all other character endings in MKX, had little to do with the overall story of MKX. And frankly, yes - Tremor becoming a super mega god with planet-shattering powers was blatant pandering fan service.
You got it all wrong, sunny boy. I actually think they did an impressive job with Tremor. They took a throwaway, garbage character from the worst MK product ever made, who surged to popularity ONLY because he was a ninja, and turned him into something very unique. I actually welcome his presence in the game BECAUSE they went to such great lengths to change him up.
As for why I post here? Because I can. Deal with it. Yeah, I was pumping quarters into MK when it first came out. Yeah, I fucking despised the 3D era. Yeah, I hate the majority of the fan base because of what ass hats they can be. But you know what? There are a few people on here that have good ideas and have good things to contribute. I like interacting with those people. MKO is hardly indicative of the primary voice of the fan base, though it is one of the loudest. I find video game fan bases in general to be reprehensible douschebags, but that's only because they all have the "I'm a tough guy behind my monitor and keyboard" persona, so they do and say dumb shit.

This please.
It's about time he (it?) made some form of physical appearance. At this point, Onaga seems like his only hope in reforming/combining the realms (consciousness). Havik would certainly be against the order of everything coming together as one. Shang is another possibility I suppose but he's got quite a mountain to scale for that hearty endeavor.
I think the next installment would be the perfect opportunity to capitalize on The One Being. Especially with so many heavy hitters due to make a return (Fujin, Onaga, Shang, Kotal, Noob, Blaze?, ect).
I too, look forward to the possibilities.

In MK9 we fought Shao Kahn, the most power conqueror in the history of all the realms. Someone with the strength that rivals the powers of a protective god like Raiden.
In MKX we fought Shinnok. A fallen elder god. One of the most powerful being in the history of Mortal Kombat.
We can't go back now. If the Cage family's power is enough to withstand the might of an elder god, we cannot face someone weaker.
The One Being it is. We've heard about him for years. It's finally time he awakens again. It reminds me a bit of Buu materializing himself within his own body to face Goku and Vegeta. If the Elder God really comes back he's unbeatable because he's reality itself but an avatar that he controls? We've had a bit of that with Onaga and Shao Kahn but only throught sheer influence.
It's time they face him.... in Mortal Kombat!

Well, they already fought Superman, so next up should be Goku. Since the supposed Gods ain`t shit.
I wonder what the Elder Gods are, if they`re so weak they could barely beat Shao Kahn when they combined with Raiden.
If they can`t be killed, I suppose they`d still be able to have their powers nullified or feel pain, as the One Being used to feed off them.
If they do introduce the One Being, I`m worried it might be a little anti-climactic, and possibly jump the shark.
Still plenty of conflict yet with the Kotal Outworld, and Liu-cifer. Keep the story going, without ending it prematurely.
If they do introduce the One Being, where would they go from there? It`d be Armageddon all over again, painting the story into a corner.

Very true, but at this point, one way or another, it seems that that's where we're headed. I'd assumed with the reboot skewing things so badly around the mk3 point in time, that there was no way we were gonna get a retelling of mk4 as we knew it, but, more or less, that's what happened. Events got stretched out over the course of 25 years for the sake of adding new blood to the series, but everything more or less went down the same way.
I'd like to think after this game that mkda/deception won't be a step by step retelling now that new players are in the mix and old players are serving different roles, but I can't help but to think the Onaga/One Being story is gonna be the main story told. I guess that's why little curve balls like "Liu-cifer" (nice BTW) and the dream realm leave me hopeful for the next step.

I wonder, what does Kotal know of Onaga? He could get blindsided if he doesn`t know about the return prophesy.
What if Liu is the host for Onaga, this time? Or would Kotal ask Reptile to make an honourable sacrifice?
Could Shao, Baraka & Mileena be running around the Netherrealm or Dream realm, or do they stay dead until somebody makes them Revanants/Specters/Wraiths. What if they become Oni?
I wonder if the Dream realm is the One Being's way of still messing with the Elder Gods, by making folks rival their power? Or if that`s where they got their power...

The mk lore is plenty of non-used, under-used and underrated plot elements.
I think about the One being, for instance. What about an alliance between good and evil to take down the one being once and for all, in order to separate our reality from his/its conscious slumber?
And what if the heroes got the turn around and instead of saving the reality by killing the one being, they just kill themselves, manipulated by Elder Gods who wanted to permanently destroy the one being?
For once, Shinnok could be a positive deus ex machina, revealing that he wanted to conquer earth in order to save it from the other evil elder gods.but he was defeated by raiden, unbeknowst puppet into elder gods hands, and corrupted by netherrealm becoming the villain we know and love.
Another interesting plot would revolve around the original Lucifer, mentioned in mk mythologies' s manual.
Or Shao Kahn's past during Onaga's reign.
Or Reptile could find a way to resurrect Onaga or host Onaga into his body in order to bring back the saurian race;if shao kahn destroyed them it'e because they are weak individually, but strong united. Reptile regression in the original storyline was due to the absence or other members of his race.Onaga's heart had the power to bring back to life the dead.
That's why I don't like when new unnecessary elements are introduced into the mix.
The mk lore is already filled with interesting things, that it doesn't need new ones, like the dream realm or kreeyan realm from mk: conquest made canon by the comics.
