Well, I hope they have more females and males... seeing as how I don't think a 'Mortal Kombat' game featuring nothing more than hermaphrodites would be very interesting...

Anyhow, here is how I rank the females (Currently... things can and do change)

1) Khameleon (sue me)

-Note (These top three are very close in order and FAR above the others)

4) Sareena
5) Kitana
6) Ashrah
7) Li Mei

-These are okay... I have slight dislike for each for various reasons. Sareena is underdeveloped (yes, Khameleon is too... but I don't have a cool concept in my head worked out for Sareena like I do Khameleon). Kitana's storyline is a bit stale. Ashrah is a bit undeveloped (MK:D's fault, I'm sure). Finally, Li Mei continues to disappoint me time and time again...

8) Sonya
9) Jade
10) Sindel

-I've never cared for these characters and I doubt I ever will. There are much worse though...

11) Mileena
12) Kira
13) Sheeva
14) Tanya

-These four all rank in my 'least favourites' list when I order them 1-10. Honestly, there isn't a doubt if I will like these characters or not... I'm just not.

There should be more females, though. Ones who wear a lot of clothing. Ones who have good storylines. Ones who don't rely on an ongoing event (Edenia storylines) to tie into the story.

I can't rank Khameleon despite her canon storyline, I guess she falls under the special cases.

I'd like to see Jade again, lookin more exotic!! and i'd like to see a 3D version of Sheeva! they should just bring out a Trilogy 2! with the memory the PS3 n Xbox 360 they should be able to do this! with loads of bonuses!!

Although in general Im a fan of the females, and my favourites list has more females then males, there are some who I detest. Here is my rank list:

These are my top three favourites. I just took to Kitana the minute I played MK2. I love her story, although I do agree it perhaps got a bit stale, but I believe she has a lot of potential. Sareena I liked when I heard of her in MKM:SZ, though never knew much about her. I like her concept and story and think she could be great. NItara I liked in MK:DA, but its only really recently Ive begun to like her even more. These three also hold my top three positions for all character (guys and gals).

4. Sindel (Should Sit Out)
5. Jade (Should Return With Better Story)
6. Khameleon (Should Be Main Character for Once)
7. Ashrah (Not Particularly Bothered)
8. Li Mei (Should Sit Out Next MK/ Not Return)
9. Sheeva (Is Too Disliked And Is Dead So Difficult To Reintroduce)

Numbers 4-9 are my like list, or not bothered too much about list. Sindel and Jade were faves of mine in MK3 and I was pleased to hear of their return, however their stories didnt impress me that much so Sindel fell out of my top three. Jade is a powerhouse in MK:D so she remained high. Khameleon is a favourite of mine in terms of storyline. SHe is very underdeveloped, but has soooo much potential like Sareena does. Ashrah is someone I liked the look of when her concept etc was released, however she wasnt what I expected. She doesnt fight as well as others in MK:D and her story doesnt really seem to have longevity. I detested Li Mei with a passion in MK:DA. She reminded me too much of Mileena in a way, and her story was a bit lame. But in MK:D she got a makeover and better story, though her ending was predictable. She got a revamp in style too which made me like her more. I actualyl really liked Sheeva in MK3. She doesnt get enough credit, though now she is dead I doubt she will return.

this is pretty much my hate list. I was never a fan of Mileena. maybe becuas ei took to Kitana straigh away and she was her rival, but I always thought her story was boring....kitan hate...Kitana hate...Kitana hate. She needs to get over the Kitana stuff and get stories of her own. I used to like Sonya till Mk4, but I felt her stry was becoming old and boring. She doesnt integrate with many other characters and I thought MK:DA might revamo her.....but instead they made her look like a man and she ended up cheap. She dropped drastically due to crap look and story. Frost is a rip off of Sub Zero. her story was boring and her look was nothing special. Kira was again a rip off....this time of Sonya and Kano....two characters that got old and boring...probably why I didnt take to her. She reminds me too much of them. She has a horrible look IMO and her story is pretty dull too. And dont even get me started on Tanya. If u wanna hear why I hate her pm me or read what ive written in umpteen other threads cause I cant be bothere dogin into it. Basically stale storyline/moves/being.


I definitely think there should be more females in MK. id like to see females from Chaosrealm, and perhaps some hard faced biatch from orderrealm. I think women in the game adds depth 9well if their story is good) and I think that for having 61 characters, 14 of them being femle is too little.

***THE BEST: Simply the best of the best***

1. Sonya

A must. The deadly original female of Mk and a personal favorite. Sonya has always been unique and has appeared in almost all the mk games. I loved her since the start and I hope they bring her back. She is the only female character that has appeared in most of the games and remains as the only female chosen warrior of Earth.

Just give her a new revamped storyline, make it deeper. Keep her look the same, tough and sexy at the same time, the only decent dressed character of the girls.

2. Mileena

One of the most amazing storylines ever. Mileena has huge potential and I look forward to her character in future games. Her MKD comeback was the best thing that could ever happen to her, and it proved that Mileena is the best evil chick of Mk.

3. Sindel

The great Queen also holds huge potential. She became a personal favorite since Mk3, all thanks to her gothic look and amazing hair. I hope they make her return and develop her character a lot more. Sindel rocks.

4. Nitara

This chick Definitely has huge potential! No doubt! Her character was developed nicely in MKDA, but her story left has hungry for more. So much can be do with Nitara, she can play important roles in different aspects, the only thing she needs is deeper development,

Nitara could easily rule the world, we only need more info on her race and realm.

We have Mileena, Tanya, Jade and Sindel, with all of those, I dont think I'll ever miss her, their stories are a lot more interesting.

1- Kitana
Kitana IMO has the best storyline in MK. She should and more than likely will return, especially now when her story has the most potential. As contrived and ridiculous Goro's return to evil was, it will be a factor for Kitana who considered him a friend. And I cannot stress enough how something must happen while she is currently evil again. I will be extremely disappointed if in MK7 we find out Kitana went through her worst fear, being evil again, and NOTHING HAPPENED.

2- Sareena
I've liked Sareena since I saw her in Mythologies. She needs to get into a real game. As a explained at great length in MKKitana's Sareena Ideas thread, if done right Sareena could easily become a central figure in the Netherealm plot and have one of the best storylines in MK.

Those two are my tops. These next few, I'd consider favorites, but not on thame level as Kitana or Sareena.

3- Mileena
I think it'll be a shame if Mileena gets killed off now that she's finally reached a turning point in her story. People have been saying Mileena should move on from her feud with Kitana and she's finally taken the first step in that direction. There seems to be this sense that if Mileena and Kitana are in a game together, they HAVE to fight. But they really don't. By taking, or trying to take her own power, Mileena's become a potential enemy of Baraka, Onaga, and Shao Kahn among other possible foes. I think she'll a be a little too busy to focus on Kitana. And if Kitana's story developes the way I hope, I think she'll have more important things to worry about too.

4- Jade
I've always liked Jade, the problem is she's stuck as "Kitana's sidekick." Thus far everything Jade does comes out of her friendship for Kitana which would be fine, but there's not a lot of developement there either. Why are they such good friends? In Deception they seemed to hint at a feud between Jade and Tanya which is a step in the right direction. But that needs to be developed more. We need background on Jade, her history with Tanya, and she either needs her own purpose other than "I'm Kitana's friend." OR they need to develope "I'm Kitana's friend." Take Mileena for example: essentially her character is "I hate Kitana." But, we know why she hates Kitana. We know why she is the way she is. And she actually has some good reasons to hate Kitana, so it works for Mileena. If they're going to keep Jade as Kitana's sidekick they need to develope that. If not, then I say develope Jade's rivalry with Tanya and give her her own purpose.

5- Sindel
I like Sindel. I think she's a cool character. Only problem is she, like Jade, is stuck in Kitana's shadow. But Sindel's worse off then Jade. As much as I like Sindel, I can't see where she can go outside of being Kitana's protective mother.

6- Tanya
I like Tanya even though she gets a bum rap. I think Tanya has a lot of potential, only problem is the MK team doesn't seem to be aware of it or know what to do with it. Having Jade and Tanya be rivals is a good idea, but what went wrong in Deception is Jade's never mentioned once in either Tanya's bios or ending. They hada good idea and didn't do anything with it. Anyway, I think she should return to continue her feud with Jade and/or challenge Mileena for Edenia's throne. People who keep saying Jade and Mileena should get out of Kitana's shadow should be with me on this because Tanya's offering a way out. Since Tanya is an unlikable, nasty bitch, they should play that up. Have her seduce Baraka and use him against Mileena. Have her subject Jade to all sorts of sadistic nastiness. We really don't have enough female villains in MK.

The next few are characters I like, but I'm not really attached to them. I'd like to seem them come back and do stuff, but I wouldn't care so much if they don't.

7- Nitara
Nitara was cool. I'd like to see her back, but I'm not sure what she'd do. She fulfilled her goal in Deadly Alliance so what would she want? I honestly don't see the Vampires are potential world conquerers but I suppose that's one direction. No denying Nitara has potential, but I personally can't think of a whole lot she can do.

8- Ashrah
I thought Ashrah was cool, even though her story is painfully similar to what I was hoping Sareena would do. Nevetheless, Ashrah could still be intergral to developing Sareena. They could be rivals at first, then allies.

9- Frost
I liked Frost even though she was more or less just a female Sub-Zero. I wish they would've developed her more, because she seemed intriguing. She could come back through a couple of ways, but if they do bring her back I hope iot's for good reason and purpose. Because frankly I'd rather Frost stay dead than have another cheesey pointless resurrection.

10- Kira
I thought Kira was cool, even though she had a very poorly rendered face and she was pretty much a hybrid of Kano and Sonya. Both of these faults could be easily fixed in a future game.

11- Kia
Yeah that's right, Kia. Not only did I rank Kia, but I ranked her higher than others. Kia's just one of those characters I could see becoming something more (although Jataaka strangely leaves me cold). A lot of it ties with Sareena. But realisticlly, Kia has a very slim to nil chance of making it in a future game.

These are the characters I'm indifferent towards. Some I sort of like, some I sort of dislike...overall I just don't care.

12- Li Mei
Li Mei gets bonus points in my book for improvement. I hated her in DA and thought she was terrible in every way: story, moves, looks etc. But she improved in every way in Deception. Mostly in story, despite her very predictable ending. She sort of reminded me of Lord of the Rings where everyone's getting corrupted by the evil ring even though they don't want to. This is just me, but if Li Mei comes back I hope they keep that aspect of her character and not have her turn completely evil. But I'm not that attacked to Li Mei so they can do what they want with her.

13- Khameleon
I thought Khameleon added an interesting dimension to Reptile's story. If they gave her her own moves and appearence she could definitely come back.

14- Sonya Blade
Sonya never really did anything for me. She's a well-developed character but overall, her story never really interested me. She is an MK mainstay though, so her return is likely. When she does, she can probably get involved with Kabal's Black Dragon and feud with Kira. However, like Kitana, Sonya can benefit from being evil at the moment. Best suggestion I can offer have Jax stay evil, even after Onaga's gone. This would be good because, for starters, it would give Jax a much-needed story boost, but also since Sonya's afraid of loss and protective of her firends, having her fight her best friend would screw with her head.

15/16- Jataaka/Tasia
Remember these two? No? I'm not surprised. They could come back. They more likely won't. I don't really care.

17- Sheeva
Not that I dislike Sheeva, it's just I have no reason to like her either. And now she's dead, so if she ever comes back we're in for another cheesey resurrection. I say, if they're going to bring back a Shokan who isn't Goro, it should be Kintaro.


And should there be more females? Sure. As long as the play good and have good stories, the more the merrier.

Yeah... but you're wild about Mileena and Jade, who are ninjas, as you say. After all, they were nothing more than Kitana clones originally, right? Khameleon doesn't have to return as a 'ninja' at all, furthermore Mileena and Jade still have the 'ninja' feel, even after the revamping that was supposed to take place.

Anyway, I won't argue with you about Kitana... after Dan sees this I'm sure he'll do it for me.

Let's see some future character ideas, people. I have one or two female characters I'm working on myself... well, one more than the other. Though I really don't agree with the majority of people who posted in this thread (character tastes, anyway), I'd still like to hear some ideas...

I wrote up couple of bios and endings for future female characters. One was an idea for Scorpion's wife which I've already posted before.
Here's a new one I made up recently:

Synclaire
Origin- Edenia
Alignment- Good
Allies- Sindel, Jade
Foes- Shao Kahn, Tanya, Mileena
Synclaire is a mysterious female warrior of Edenia. All that is known for certain about her past is her parents were once soldiers of Edenia and rebels against Shao Kahn who were killed by a traitor. She has since devoted her life to training and preparing for the day she would step forward and follow in her parents' footsteps. And perhaps someday, confront their murderer. With the danger in Edenia growing, Synclaire steps forward as Queen Sindel's personal bodyguard, determined to protect her realm and her Queen. However, as the battle begins, Synclaire grows increasingly wary of a hidden threat. She fears the traitor who killed her family may have returned as well...

....and a first-person bio....

"My parents were true patriots of Edenia. My mother and father both served as soldiers of Edenia under the rule of our noble King Jerrod. The fought with all their might to defend our land from the evil of Shao Kahn...even after he won. Long did they fight to free our realm from his tyranny. My parents were heroes. All I ever wanted was to follow in their footsteps.
"But then they were stolen from me. Slaughtered....not on the battlefield like warriors. Nor in glory as heroes. They were ambushed in our own home and murdered...slowly...like dogs. They were murdered by a traitor. A cowardly, vicious, betrayer. It was only by luck did I escape death myself. On the life of my family I swore I would never rest until Shao Kahn's evil was destroyed and the traitor who murdered them was dead.
"However the betrayer, while a coward, was a formidable and deadly fighter. I devoted my life to training and preparation. Eagerly dreaming of the day I would finally be skilled enough to confront my family's murderer and avenge their deaths. However, even after I completed my training...I still dream. Even with Shao Kahn's defeat, the deceiver still eludes me.

And I shall see to it the deceiver suffers justice.

I'm not much for thinking up special moves or fatalities.
Far as appearence, I haven't completely thought it out yet but she'd have red hair and she'd wear mostly black with a little red. Something like a red and black corset. The top wraps around her neck, revealling no cleavage. Sleeveless with black leather gloves with red trim. Maybe a little midriff revealed. Black leather pants with maybe some red designs.
Something along the lines of what Kate Beckinsale wore in Van Helsing, I guess. Only no sleeves, and it'd be all red and black.

Now her ending...

Synclaire
As the danger in Edenia grew, the mysterious woman calling herself Synlcaire stepped forward to help defend the realm. She placed herself as one of Sindel's personal bodyguards and quickly proved to be a diligent force in protecting the Queen. However, Synclaire remained constantly apprehensive of a traitor in Edenia.
After the forces of evil were vanquished, Sindel and her daughter Princess Kitana wished to personally commemorate Synclaire's valient defence of Edenia. Synlcaire met with Sindel and Kitana in the throne room and it was then that she revealed the identity of her family's murderer:
Shao Kahn's step-daughter, Kitana.
While she was still loyal to Shao Kahn, Kitana had been sent on a mission to eliminate various rebel leaders, among which were Synclaire's parents. It was in fact Kitana who murdered Synclaire's family as she watched. She never forgot this and obsesed her entire life with gaining revenge against Kitana. However, much to Synclaire's dismay, Kitana turned against Shao Kahn and redeemed herself into a hero of Edenia.
But despite Kitana's sincere change of heart, Synclaire refused to believe that the murderer of her family could truly change. So in Synclaire's bitter and fractured mind, she came to believe that Kitana was merely deceiving Edenia and Queen Sindel, only waiting for the time to betray them.
Catching them off guard, Synclaire managed to bind Sindel, leaving her free to face Kitana. Kitana desperatly tried to reason with her, but she would have none of it. Her mind was made up. Kitana was evil and deserved to die. There were no excuses. No change. Sindel could only watch in horror as Synclaire slowly tortured her daughter to death....
As Synclaire put it: for Edenia's own good.

Nothing really special. Yet another Edenian chick and yet another revenge-crazed character, I know. But I think she brings a new twist to the revenge idea since she's convinced that she's the good guy. Unlike someone like Mileena or Tanya who wants to kill Kitana to obtain power and enslave Edenia, Synclaire believes in her head killing Kitana would be a good deed and help save the world.
Also I think she'd give a new twist for Kitana's story, who some have complained is growing stale. She'd provide an interesting conflict for Kitana and a feud with someone who isn't Mileena. To Kitana, Synclaire would represent for she's everything she's fighting for. And would she ever be able to bring herself to kill Synclaire if she had too?
Synclaire's character could evolve too. After attacking Kitana she'd be ostracized by the Edenian forces. Obsessed with killing Kitana, Synclaire's sanity could continue to unravel and she would engage in all sorts of nastiness and associate with other evils. And perhaps somewhere down the line she'd finally realize that in her quest for revenge she became a worse monster than Kitana ever was. And where would she go from there?

I wanted the identity of Synclaire's family's murderer to be a surprise. Was I successful? Any other thoughts or opinions?

Hmmmmmm Im not too sure about Synclaire to be honest XiahouDun. She seems too like other characters, none really directly, kinda bits and pieces of a few.
But with all the character that MK have, it's probably hard to make new refreshing characters. I dont like the Kitana rivalry, she has already had enough of that from Mileena and tanya and Kahn.
Also the wasy you describe her look, she sounds kinda like Kira.

And i kinda guessed at the identity of her families Killer, mainly because I was wondeirn why Kitana wasnt in her allies list, when jade and Sindel were.

It will be hard to come up with new idea for characters.

I'm working on an Earthrealm warrior called Roxie. Im not too sure on her exact story, but she is a telepath. Will post ideas soon.

I'm working on a costume and look for her just now as it happens. It's prooving more tricky than I first thought. i want her to be reptilian, but its hard trying to make her look feminine, since female repriles dont have breasts, and she's look a bit dumb with a big pair of red lips.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll admit when I made her up I knew she wasn't much of a stand-alone character. Just something to liven up Kitana's storyline when it needs to be livened up.
Most new characters I come up with, male or female, mainly serve established characters' stories. Synclaire, Scorpion's wife, I thought of a character who could terrorize Mileena, a stalker for Sareena, and a guy connected to Shao Kahn, etc.

It wasn't my intention to make her appearence sound like Kira's, but I guess it does come across that way. I kind of have a clear idea in my head, but can't really describe it.
I guess Synlcaire's uniqueness would have to come from her moves and playability, which I'm no good at making up.

It is hard to think of truly unique new characters because, as you said, there are already so many characters. I'm better at thinking new shit for old characters to do.

Ok, here are two of the females I would introduce to MK. I've posted the Peiran idea before I think, but the Roxie character is one I've been working on for a while.

Peiran:
Origin: The Heavens
Status: Goddess of Nature
Alignment: Good
Allies: Fujin, The Elder Gods
Foes: Shinnok, Shao Khan, Those Who Threaten Earth

As Mother Nature, Peiran has become increasingly worried of the damage which has been sustained to her world. She was called upon by the Elder Gods after they were made aware of the actions of Rayden, and the needless death of two of Earths warriors. Although Rayden’s anger at the warriors of Earth is understandable, such needless killing cannot be allowed to continue. While Fujin concentrates on recruiting new warriors to fight in the continuing struggle with the forces of evil, Peiran has been ordered to watch the actions of The Thunder God closely, and if need be, strip the enraged deity of his power. Never before has Peiran seen Rayden fuelled with such immense anger. Peiran worries that she may have no choice but to intervene if the Thunder Gods anger towards the beings he has protected for so long continues.

(N.B. In My MK7 story, Rayden destroys Shujinko infront of Jax, Sonya, Kitana, Kung Lao and Johnny Cage. Thinking he has gone berserk, and outraged, Jax attacks Rayden......only to meet the same fate).

Peiran would be the goddess of Nature. She would have short green hair, greeny eyes and green lips. her skin would be very aple, and her outfit would be kind of minamilist. She would be fully clothed however, in a brown and green outfit....a kind of all in one outfit. It would be decorated with swirling vines and have a belt around the waist which looked like waves of water.

Fujin had been appointed by the Elder Gods to recruit new fighters in the continuing struggle against evil. While he scanned the Earth from the heavens, he received mental images of the massacre of many people by a gang of vampires. As he searched, he located the area of the massacre.....a small farming community on mainland Europe. He travelled there to be met by a small group of survivors. One of their recruits was a woman named Roxie. She greeted Fujin, and told him what she knew of the gang who ambushed her village, and that it was she who drove off their leader. As she described the events, Fujin came to realise that the images in his mind matches that of hers. Fujin asked Roxie if she would join him in the fight against evil. Roxie’s telepathy would prove invaluable to Fujin and the Earth’s warriors. With the ability to read minds, Roxie could be the link to defeating evil that Earthrealm had been looking for. With the Vampire people adding to the threat to Earth, Fujin ordered Roxie to follow the gang along with Kung Lao and his new Ally, Khameleon, and gain knowledge on the Vampire gang’s leader, Nitara.

I know what you're probably gonna say. Roxie's story needs some work, and I agree. I want her teleoathy to play a major role in the story. I also think it's high time we had a new female representative from Earth. Sonya is kinda dull, so hopefully Roxie will be a breath of fresh air. I also aim to ahve the Earths Warriors split into groups, one going off to Outworld, and the other remaining on Earth to deal with the immediate threats, such as the vampires who are invading Earth (and also Edenia). I'm not entirely sure on her look. I'm workign on ones for Roxie, Kitana, Sareena and Khameleon right now.

OK. first off i just want to say that the women in Mk are some of the most vicoous bitches ever to walk a realm. but if we are going to rank them or even just discuss who should and should not return lets be honest.

Kitana(will return) after having her traded for mileena and sindel and having their stories revolve around her no doubt she will return. she prolly has the most complex story of all the girls. princess of Edenia a realm she constantly needs to protect from khan and onaga. she also had strong ties with the Shokan which shows she is agreat leader. She's #1

Sonya(will return or die) Sonya has been here since the beginning, the first lad of kombat has been in more games than any other woman and continued to kick ass the whole way. however her whole military outlook is starting to fail her. she needs a kick ass plot twist or actually complete her revenge on kano cuz it's been 13 years since mk1 and she still can't kill that bastard. either she will return or return and die so characterrs like Jax and johnny Cage will have reasons to come back and Avenge her.

Sindel(WTF is with that hair,) will prolly sit this next one out be killed) with khan's uprising i woulnt doubt it if he took revenge ion his former queen and killed her, ccreating a vendetta and reason for kitana to come back as well. Windel has always been kinda for lack of better terms "fucking nuts" with her screaming and flying and hair hair hair sorry! important part of deception, not much else.

Kira-(will return) after her ending and the revival of new black dragon i woulnt be surprised if she comes back, maybe even killing kabal herself. she has a lot of drive and obviously little mercy(she killed kobra without even Blinking but then again who wouldn't) With new moves she would definately be one of the new or even the best bitch in mk history.

Mileena(is either coming back or died from baraka) The bitch of Mk. mileena has not been in many games but the one she is she is vicous! her fatalities are some of the goriest most wrong things ever. not to mention she has fooled everybody by making them believe she is kitana. her involvement with baraka is alos another indicator that she is bad news. you gotta be vicious to be fucking a tarkata general, hope she comes back full force!

Tanya(Hope Jade Killed you) Wow what a filler character if i ever saw one. guess midway was sick of making good characters when mk4 came out. Among other turds such as kai jarek and shinnok there was Tanya. the only black chick to grace Mk and she shames herself. her moves were like cammy from street fighter, she looked stupid as hell and still does. Tyra banks anybody! she alos has no power but rather sides with those in power. she just likes to jump ship from master to master. i really don't see how she was very important in Deception, again another character slot wasted( should have been quan chi or kung lao or sektor for fucks sake!) Stay dead bitch Jade finished you.

Jade( prolly gonna sit this one out) Jade started out as just another pallete swap of mileena and kitana but she spoke softly...and had a big fucking stick. Her ability to turn her back on Khan for her friend shows Jade hasstrong will. in deception her role in aiding sindel and also ridding the world of Tanya made her a great female character. her staff is crazy insane as well! definately one of the best remakes of an old character(along with ermac)

Ashrah(what do you do now Bee keeper) ashrah freed herself fromthe nether realm in her ending, so now what? it's not like you made contact with any earth ppl or that the y will want a former demon fighting alongside them. and raiden doesn't want to help you. stay at home Ashrah and find a more suitable wardrob then your wanna be raiden robes and beekeeper suit.
