The Saw is Family (Leatherface variations discussion)

So far, one of the common complaints about Leatherface (aside from him being a guest) is what variations could you come up with for him. While I'm confident NRS has something up their sleeves, I'd like to throw out a couple ideas. Feel free to add your own or offer any constructive criticism.
We'll go with the obvious first...
Chainsaw- The visual que for this variation would be...the chainsaw. This variation would have saw-centric combos. It would extend the range on a few normals and jump attacks. I've heard a few people suggest a multiple hit jump punch. That could be interesting, but could also screw over some of the more armor dependent characters(ala Ferra/Torr).
Possible Chainsaw specific specials...
Berserker- LF swings his saw wildly(like the end of the first movie). This would be a multi hit move that would hit at different angles(low to high, or possibly a overhead starter).
Saw spark- LF would grind his saw along the ground causing sparks to fly up into the opponents face, disorienting them for a free hit.
Powered up Saw. LF gives an extra crank on the saw, powering up attacks for higher damage. Saw would temporarily be inactive for a cool down period, so the move wouldn't be over powered, and he would temporarily lose access to Saw centric moves, making it a high risk/high reward gamble.
Next variation-
Meat hook- Visual que will be LF carrying a rusty meat hook on the end of a chain. With that, Injustice players will likely know what I'm getting at. I am quite keen at what this variation could bring. Swinging chain combos like Kratos from MK9. Long range normals will be a common theme between this and Chainsaw. I'd basically like this variation to be a quicker, more useful "Lasher".
Special moves-
Untitled- LF lassos the opponent's leg and whips them around, smashing them to the ground once or twice. Meter burned version gets you a pop up.
Shoulder Charge- LF slams the hook into the ground and pulls himself in at high speed for a shoulder check (meter burn version becomes a tackle to the ground, with a few slashes of the hook for extra damage)
Final variation-
Untitled Grappler variation-
Visual cue will be a leather apron instead of the standard cloth. He will lose the range on regular attacks in exchange for powerful grapple attacks. I'd actually like to see a chain grappler in this game, and I think Leatherface's fighting style being largely unexplored, could be a good way to make this happen. Possible buffs, depending on the length of the grapple ala Grundy from Injustice. Would probably be fairly armor dependent.
Special moves-
Mainly consisting of chain grapples.
Anti air grab would be necessary with the loss of long range normals.
Those are the three that, to me, would make the most sense given what we have to work with.
I had a pretty out there idea of Leatherface wearing the faces of fallen warriors and gaining some of that warrior's attributes. But given that Leatherface is in no way supernatural, it would be hard to justify from a story perspective (yeah yeah, it doesn't make sense that he's in MK to begin with, STFU
Welp, that's what I've got. I'd say given these variations, he could be pretty viable. Feel free to add on to what I've got here, or make up variations of your own.

Fantastic! But this is a Leatherface thread, Bo Rai Cho talk should go in another thread unless we're talking about match ups. But it's probably a bit too early for that talk.
Sigh.

The meat hook idea is really good and I could definitely see that as a real variation coming for sure. Maybe he'll have a variation based on the dance too. He can momentarily boost his speed or damage when he swings the chainsaw over his head screaming. Just trying to put something out there.

I've never seen a TCM movie before but that sounds like something that could work. Does he uses a hook or is that something you came up with?
They could have a variation with the face of someone who's supposed to be dead but have the powers to control him because of that, like Nightwolf.

Was never big into Leatherface (and don't know much about the series tbh) but I appreciate this thread. Gives me an idea of what to expect.
I like the ideas except I'm also not sure about the multi-hitting jump attack. Ex DB2 is one of my favorite AAs with Reptile and considering how annoying jump ins and crossovers are now (hello Lao and Sub), I might lose my sanity if I get jumping bean Leatherfaces breaking my armor when I'm trying to condition them to stop jumping.

B3. Snack Time : He stabs his opponent then chews off their face.
B4. Frightening Attack ( X-ray ) After the X-ray he cuts a giant hole in the opponents chest.
B5. Neck Snapper : With his running grab move he breakes the opponents neck.
B6. I love you to bits : ( Throw ) He throws the opponent and his chainsaw in the air and cuts the opponents limbs off.
SB Knife Combo He cuts you for a three hit combo then the opponent is split in half.

Obviously his chainsaw should feature predominantly in two variations (not like Jason where his machete is only used in one). One variation could include his sledgehammer and meathooks, and be called butcher or something, based on his first kill of the series and that he worked in a slaughterhouse.

Nice ideas. I too have been wondering what he's going to have outside of swinging his chainsaw wildly. The sledgehammer would be cool. I get the feeling he's going to use weapons in every variation, due to the fact he's just an overgrown hillbilly with no special powers.
I'm more curious at this point for his arcade ending. Is Shinnok going to end up being eaten by his fam?

That would explain his Necromancer variation's forearms...
Leatherface had different masks in the 1st movie, the other 2 were women's faces.

Kinda surprised no one has considered a Sledgehammer variation.

I was kinda saving that one for when Triple H is a guest.

Much thanks to those that have taken this seriously.
Much appreciated sir! I could see that idea working. It could be the equivalent of LF hulking up, so to speak.
He did, but he used it for more or less what it was intended for...
Putting it on the end of a chain just seemed to be a better application for a fighting game.
Appreciate it!
To your point, I agree, which is why I'm hesitant to endorse the multi hit jump punch. On one hand, it makes sense and could be a tool to help set him apart. On the other hand, it runs the extreme risk of being over powered for a game that is defined by no free armor on wake ups. We shall see.
I like it!
I had the same thought, but preferred the chain grapple variation out of sheer avarice, haha. I see this being a more realistic option as far as variations go.
I'm curious to see his bio/ending as well. Jason's ending was one of my favorites, and have no doubt they can come up with something creative for Leatherface as well.
I can agree with you. Never cared for the Alien movies and was never the biggest cyborg fan outside of Smoke(happy for their fans though).
