Hey, I've often wondered about Mileena if she knew from the start that she was an evil clone. Obviously she knew she wasn't well..right. But I've never read in any of her bio's if she had to discover what she was too? It's an interesting thought from a character development view to have her perhaps not understanding what she was at first. It always says that she became bitter and had an intense hatred for Kitana. Perhaps she was created with this hatred or perhaps it grew as she had to live her life behind a mask etc.. But then we have the taraka essence within her that would make her evil so maybe there are or were never redeeming features within her. However given that she is a clone of Kitana who is intensely righteous it isn't too much of a stretch to assume she would have some more human personality traits behind the years of having to hide her face and be in the shadow of her "sister" maybe there is a person who came into this world only to discover that she is an abomination. Obviously Mileena is evil ( and I'm not in anyway suggesting she could turn good) but maybe there's a little more to it than her merely being an evil creation, For example in Mortal Kombat Gold..when Kitana tells her she is not her sister Mileena reacts emotionally and kneels down..it seems that despite knowing what she is Mileena continues to insist that she is Kitana sister.

She definitely knows. Her whole goal in life is to find a way to replace Kitana since that's what she was originally created to do.

Yeah I know she knows now I was wondering about when she was created. She was created to take Kitana's place but the spell botched and she was kept to watch Kitana. But even as far back as her first appearance she was plotting to overthrow Shao Kahn with Baraka which suggests she doesn't instinctually feel the need to serve and replace Kitana. Ah I think I'm just trying to dig too deep into the personality of a character that will never have an in depth story it is a Fighting Game after all, I just get carried away with what if's and buts lol

Well that was only in her MK2 ending which obviously never came true. Every character overthrows Kahn in their endings back in those early days, even the most loyal ones like Reptile and Ermac.

Yeah I guess so, I just think maybe her character should steer further away from just wanting to be Kitana. She's the first MK female villain I'd like to see her set her sights on something more than just her sister. Looking at how she looks for MK9 where one can assume she will look less like Kitana than ever before ( hmm then again she has had different colour eyes before.) maybe it's a hint at her perhaps not playing the I'm Kitana card in this one. Like I think her and Baraka could make a badass team him with his armies her being a little more than a mindless brute they could be a bigger threat together. I dunno you guys views but I'd prefer to see a more individual Mileena in future games ( assuming she gets through this next one.)

I just don't think a storyline where Mileena and Baraka formed their own faction and the Tarkatans tried to take Outworld all for themselves instead of being henchmen for a REAL end boss would be interesting enough to be worth pursuing.

The thing of it is, yes, Mileena has a fanbase, so does every character. But that doesn't change the fact that some characters are main characters, and some are just supporting cast. Johnny Cage will never be the champion, Kano will never do anything truly important, Sareena's my favorite female, but she'd just be lucky to ever even appear in another game again, and Mileena and Baraka would never work in a position of leadership. They don't have the traits like godlike power or chessmaster cunning that the emperors and sorcerers have that allows them to be faction leaders.

Besides, being a jealous little sister/desperate-to-please daddy's girl archetype is the core trait that defines who Mileena is. You might as well just create a brand new character rather than change her personality so radically. The only way I could see her turning on Shao Kahn is if Shang Tsung finally pulled a Starscream, and Mileena went "Hey wait, HE's the one who created me, I should be on his side."
