Edenians = Elves of the MK universe?

Originally the realm they lived in was kind of like Earth, only more beautiful (hence the "Eden" part of "Edenia"). The people there resemble humans, but live to a ridiculously long age, and (I think) have more magical abilities. Is there a parallel to the traditional "Elves" theme that runs in so many fantasy stories?

I doubt there was any deliberate or conscious effort.
The majority of Mortal Kombat's story is made up as they go along; so a lot of the themes and subtext just grows into it inadvertently.

I'd be surprised though if hasn't occurred to the MK team by now there are certain parallels between Edenians and Elves.

Also Sub-Zero= The Aragorn of MK.

Mercenary with a Good side, who comes to grips with his own heritage, and in the process atones for the wrong-doings of his forebearers.

All That is required of Sub-Zero now is to have his big moment in the spotlight.
