Before anyone says anything, please keep out the "I don't want guest characters in another game" posts, please. I know a lot of you are against guest characters, but let's put that aside and just discuss this. Thank you

All right, guest characters in this game had nothing to do with the story, and some say they shouldn't. But I was wondering, for a guest character you'd like to see enter this game, who would it be and how would you put them into the story?

They're only to appear once in the game, whether they die, they mysteriously leave after doing something, or they stay put and the others go off, what is that character supposed to do and who is it?

I wouldn't mind seeing Nariko from Heavenly Sword make an appearance, the only thing though I would totally fix is that hair, my goodness... I wouldn't mind seeing her teaming up with a few fellow Earthrealm heroes and Raiden stopping Shinnok or whoever the boss is and then dying at the end,
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Since she kinda does anyways in her own game
.

So, what's yours?

Batman.

Why?

Because he is Batman.

Okay, but seriously, that Kano cameo in Arkham City Lockdown was great, and I don't think WB would mind for Batman to appear in MK game, since, you know, they are both parts of WB.

Just want him to appear for 20 seconds.Something like for example demons or Netherrealm creatures surround Earthrealm heroes,Batman appears, takes them down with his mighty gadgets and just with his awesomeness and says "There is not much time left". And then he disappears of course, because he IS BATMAN! grin

And let Johnny say as he watches Batman disappear:"I think I have an idea for my next movie",to which Sonya rolls her eyes.

Damn,I am good. grin

Why? If they have no place in the game or canon, they have no place in story mode.

Cameos would be acceptable, if they're small. It wouldn't bother me to see a DC or Midway character appear for a few seconds in the background of story mode. But writing the story around them would be retarded.

Just because a character is a guest character doesn't mean that can't have something going on with them other than just serving as a guest. They could have some significance with the story without playing a crucial role that would carry onto the next game. Hence why I stated, they could die during story mode, disappear into the shadows, or stay behind.

And this thread isn't to be taken extremely serious, just, I would like to avoid the usual arguments that flows around this topic just for once.

I would like to see Cole Macgrath in an MK game as a guest. I know SFXT had him first but he couldn't even be played in Arcade Mode. Only in versus which is kind of stupid.

I would love to see Cole and Raiden interacting together. Raiden asking Cole to help Earthrealm and in return Raiden promises to help find a cure for the plague in Cole's universe.

I think it would be pretty cool. Just something to think about. Good thread, Icebaby. I always appreciate guest character threads.

Crossovers only make sense when the plot acknowledges the fact that "this character isn't from our universe, he's from a parallel version of Earth". Y'know, like MKvsDCU does. The whole plot is about how the MK universe and the DC universe are cosmically colliding.

That's why having one guest character all by theirself as a canon part of the storyline doesn't really work, because when the plot isn't "our Earth and their Earth are meeting", having them show up feels like it comes out of nowhere and doesn't fit with the rest of the story.

The only exception would be a character from a different game but set in the same continuity. For instance, Street Fighter and Final Fight occur in the same world, so Final Fight characters can regularly appear in SF games. Or Heihachi's bio in Soul Calibur 2: Tekken could believably be the future of the Soul Calibur world because both games have a "Manji Clan" whose leader inherits the name "Yoshimitsu", so you can just say Heihachi somehow traveled back in time to get there.

But MK doesn't exist in the same world as anything else. It's a self-contained franchise.

Let's take as an example, Kratos, since people constantly insist he "fits in with Mortal Kombat".

In the MK universe, all the religions in the world are stories humans have mis-told and twisted about the MK gods. That's been canon since MK Mythologies. That's why in MK9, Nightwolf calls Raiden "Haokah", the name of the Lakota Indians' spirit of thunder. "Raiden" and "Haokah" are the same guy, given two different names by two different cultures.

Which means "Zeus" is also one of Raiden's many names. (So is Thor, that's why Raiden uses a hammer in MK4) So how can Kratos, who's supposed to be Zeus's son, and who interacts with and eventually kills the entire Greek Pantheon in his games, coexist with Raiden in a canon way?

This ain't supposed to have heavy thought to it. It's basically a joke to see if any kind of character you would like to see have a cross over with MK, what would they do if suddenly they were apart of the storyline, whether or not it makes logical sense on how they got in the universe.

I wrote it before, I'll write it again, this isn't supposed to be taken seriously. It's a humorous thread seeing how many people have ideas for their favorite character in another game crossing over with MK's universe and being in the storyline. I just don't want people saying, "I don't want any more guest characters" in here because this isn't about those kinds of opinions. Just have fun with this thread.

I didn't say "I don't want more guest characters." I'm fine with having them in the game as long as they're non-canon like they are now. I'm just saying when you bring the story into things, you need to make sense.

When you don't, you get Quan Chi fighting in the tournament, wearing Shinnok's amulet right in front of Raiden's face, and knowing how to steal souls...

I never said you were those who don't want guest characters in, but it would be nice enough if you would kindly write out who you think would be a good character to have a certain role in the story that is a guest character.

We all know that Mortal Kombat is in its own little universe and that guest characters wouldn't have any kind of effect towards it, but for the sake of this thread, forget that it is and just contribute, please.

Alright, fair enough...I can play the game...

I pick the Ghostbusters. They're no strangers to interdimensional demigods trying to conquer the world and half the cast of MK is some kind of dead.

I'll tell you right now the end of MK9 would've been at least three times better of instead of Raiden and Liu fighting on the rooftop as Kahn arrives, it'd been Peter, Ray, Egon, and Winston crossing the streams into the portal to blow Kahn up, lol.

NeRdS should bring "guest characters" in the series who resemble their original counterparts for the most part but are still characters of their own making them justified in the Mortal Kombat world. I read that Deadpool was originally just Marvel making fun of Deathstroke (WB). Comically enough, Deadpool became more popular than Deathstroke himself.
You can see a "Deathstroke" in a Marvel comic who looks and behaves like Deathstroke, but isn't one (for copyright purposes). Deathstroke is Wade Wilson whereas Deadpool is Slade Wilson and Deathstroke is serious whereas Deadpool is quite humorous similar to Spider-Man.

I would like to see an impersonation of Davy Jones from the PotC series.

Hmmm I'd love Kain and Razel from the Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver games to be guest characters in MK.

Vampires exist within MK, perhaps they could be incorporated in some way featuring a re"vamped" (derp) Nitara.

Other way round I believe, I remember this from watching Teen Titans where they always referred to Deathstroke as Slade, cus you can't say Death on a kids show lol.

during the fight with shinnoks forces raiden gets desperate a uses and spell or ritual to bring a great warrior to his forces aid. kratos is pull through time before raiden. kratos is pissed as always cause he had just killed himself in gow 3. this act would bring raiden to be more like dark raiden and kratos would eventually, after the story ends, fade from mk universe. and for his help he would get a mk skin in gow ascension lol.tongue

I think it might be cool to have Buffy as a guest. She's tough, athletic, knows how to fight and has supernatural strength. Her weapons would (naturally) be the stake and crossbow, maybe even she could 'borrow' a spell or two from Willow. I noticed how the guest characters in MK9 are Freddy (evil) and Kratos (morally ambiguous at best), so to balance things out why not add another to the forces of light?

I'll never happen and was just an idea - but hey, that's the point of this thread.
