The reason its a better game is a new engine and new interest being MK vs DC. It is historical. Whenever MK 9 comes out, no one will care 2 weeks after the release and the game will drop down to $20 within 3 months.

There is no heart and soul with Mortal Kombat, they've stolen all of their ideas.

John Tobias returned to make the MK vs. DC comic. He had nothing to do with the actual production of the game itself.

The idea that people have that Tobias leaving was somehow the death-knell for Mortal Kombat or that his return would restore the franchise to it's former glory is naive and idiotic. Obviously, he helped lay the foundation of the game and he had many good ideas. He also had some pretty bad ones as well.

If Tobias came back, some things would improve. Some things would get worse. Overall, we'd be pretty much where we are now.
