With any new game still in the shrink wrap I open it up and take a long sniff inside the box.

I usually watch all the videos first, I skim through the manual but usually not right away.

New game smell is amazing. Umm I unwrap it just to get that final sense of "OMG I finally own this game," then read the back, look through the manual, then pop the game in and watch the intro. And finally enjoy the game : )

Fun fact: I plan to get the special edition of this game and a regular copy as a backup.

You see I would say this is madness. But I own both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 versions of Soul Calibur 4. And the Ps2, Xbox and Gamecube versions of Soul Calibur 2.

Yeah. Madness. I've never considered doing such a thing until someone damaged my copy of RE5. I'm afraid it'll stop working any day. And MK is a game I refuse to lose to such idiocy.

1. Read the manual
2. Begin a slight tutorial just for the feel of the controls (better to get the feeling of what the game has to offer).
3. Begin playing actual gameplay.
