I was thinking about this earlier. Games that were inspired by MK, have cameos or references, or maybe even inspired MK themselves. And I have a small list.

  • Tattoo Assassins
  • Way of the Warrior
  • Killer Instinct (Had an Animality before MK even did!)
  • Bloodstorm (Johnny Cage promoted it, come on...)
  • Puzzle Fighter (MKD's Puzzle Kombat totally based on it)
  • Clay Fighter (magazine advertisements at the time parodied MKII)
  • Maximum Carnage (Acclaim cross-promoted it with MKII)
  • The Grid
  • Psi-Ops (Scorpion)
  • NBA Jam TE (Scorpion, Reptile, Raiden)
  • Unreal Championship 2 (Raiden, other MK taunts)
  • NFL Blitz (Raiden)
  • MLB Slugfest (Scorpion and Sub-Zero)
  • Revolution X (Toasty, other MK references)
  • Justice League: Task Force (the OTHER fighting game that had DC characters in it!)
  • Judge Dredd (Arcade version had mini-Goro's)
  • Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus (John Tobias, yo!)


Also, if there's a beta of Thea Realm Fighters (which had Ho Sung Pak, Katalin Zamiar, and Phillip Ahn) I'd love to play it.

Any others that an MK fan should play, at least once, for some kind of connection?

Unreal Championship 2 - Hell, Raiden's in it.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Fatalities gave way to the kick-ass Final Smash!

The Sims (All) - The fights are just awesome. I record them all the time.

Soul Calibur IV - The MK vs SC dream will finally come true.

Nintendogs - I just think they're cute.

As for UC2, I guess that's what I had meant when I said Unreal.
SSBM - interesting take. I figured "Final Smashes" to be similar to "Super Moves" in SSF2T only unlocked by a bonus item, or did I misinterpret something about them?
The Sims - huh? Can you show a video? It doesn't seem to relevant to MK, but...
Nintendogs - Come on. Really.

You know what I accidentally omitted from my original list - Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus. I've now added it.
Why are you telling these to us?
Some games are not at the least connected to the way of MK.
Answer me at my topic "What do you think of Mortal Kombat M.U.G.E.N."

If you had read the first paragraph on the head poster, he's clearly telling us games that were inspired by Mortal Kombat... which some on his list are quite fun to play.

who made the game explicitaly tell:
"It's a MK game with 4 fighters in the same arena,and without ninjas and sorcerer".
I think it's one of the best games ever.It had sa fatality system satisfying.
unluckly the game is avaible on for free(and illegal) download.

whenever i play that game, i can't help but think
"Damn, the only thing that could possibly make this game any
more PERFECT would be if it was MK!"
It's insane, anyone who like beatin the living crap outta ppl
should definately play that game!

Jade Empire: has an excellent fighting system as well as a very interesting mythology, with different martial art and weapon styles

The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver series: has an interesting and thought-provoking storyline and dark elements like MK

Unreal Championship 2: the perfect union of a 3rd person fighter and 1st person shooter

I'm probaly gonna get yelled at for this but Tekken is a freakin kick ass fighitng game (the only game that I like to but it below Mortal Kombat).

I recommend Ninja Gaiden 2.

The gameplay style is like Shaolin Monks. It's about a ninja warrior, it has that oriental design here and there like MK, it's part fantasy, and it's also very violent and bloody.

Sounds like MK's brother, huh?

I'll try all your recommendations as smuch as possible but here are games I've played that have a Mortal Kombat feel into it.
God of War 2 (I can't wait for God of War 3.)
King of Fighters XI (Shion is like Jade and Mai is like Kitana.)
Tekken 5 (I bet it's the same with Tekken 6.)
Soul Calibur 3 (I bet Soul Calibur 4 is better.)
Manhunt 2 (I love this game!)
King of Fighters: Maximum Impact (Playing as Leona while using her bombs and her slashing attacks gave me the feeling of MK.)
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects (The only Marvel game I know that has violent finishers in it.)
Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 (I would've not known about it if my brother didn't like it.)

Also, I bet that Wet is a good game to play for MK fans. I'd want to get it too.
