In the early games, Edenia was inspired, obviously, by the Garden of Eden. It was supposed to be a lush and fertile paradise with the most peaceful, beautiful, and magical people in the realms living there, so Kahn turning it into a dead wasteland would be all the more tragic. It was never actually seen until Deception though, except in a comic book or two and the cartoon, usually when they'd show Kitana's origin story is when you'd see what it was like. In those, it was like Camelot in appearance, very Medieval European.

Of course, back in those days, it wasn't a separate realm from Outworld, it was depicted as "this is what Outworld was like before Kahn came along" For instance, in the comic about Kitana's origin, which was released around MK2, they showed the Living Forest as part of Edenia, and the trees used to smile and laugh, and then when Kahn took over and the realm became Outworld, the trees turned evil too. Because back then, Edenia wasn't merged with Outworld, it became Outworld. In the MK4 comic, Sindel rules Kahn's subjects like the Shokan and the Centaurs because her realm WAS Kahn's realm and in MK3, he was supposed to have been killed and she and Kitana got the throne back. They didn't reveal it was a separate realm and Kahn was still alive ruling Outworld until a retcon in MKDA.

Anyway, in Deception, all the little cottages still pretty much look middle ages-y, and all the lush green-ness and waterfalls keeps that "Garden of Eden" theme, but bigger buildings like Sindel's Palace look sort of Arabian. (Not to mention Jade started dressing kinda middle-eastern too.)

Seido is kinda hard to pin down. It's not a recreation of any Earth cultures so much as just the theme is very much "order", as you would expect. So buildings are all very smooth, simple shapes. There was a big pyramid in the center, that's a triangle, there were lots of tall square or rectangular shapes in the central city, and maybe some obelisks I think? The roads are all laid out in a pattern of lines and circles, I recall the houses out towards the edges where there was more grass and water were dome shaped, and a lot of them were sort of built dipping into the ground almost like Hobbit Holes in Lord of the Rings...and then there's the fact that the whole city was floating, so it really is sort of a unique world unto itself.

ive been seeing different types of architectures, and after seeing them i pin pointed down the closest architecture style it would be, my gues was either persian or european style

Some of the architecture in the Order realm bear a striking similarity with the architecture style of Percepolis, pre-islamic persian, like the training arena wear you train with hotaru and the prison cell shujinko is placed in not to mention the some of the monoliths that you see around the place while your traveling around,

edenia, it didnt occur to me about arabian, but after seeing some arabian architecture, i now stuck, between european, arabian, and islamic persian ?

ok after comparing the architectures in the game and that with the real world architectural styles, i dont think there is any european style used, its either between arabian, pre-islamic persian, or islamic persian ? Seido looks more pre-islamic persian, especially with the rectangular and squarish shapes of the architecture and the towering buildings and the obelisks around the realm, especially with many fire torches in the houses and on some of the obleisks that tell you which part of the realm you are in like redtown or green town

as for edenia its architecture bears similarity with arabian or islamic persian styles (Safavid style), so far thats what im able to come up with,

what about you whats your take on this ?

Well I'm not an expert on foreign architecture, but I still don't think Orderrealm's buildings and design style look anything but "orderly", like they're all based on simplified shapes and colors.

Well like I said in my first post, in Edenia, the little cottages and stuff look like a typically middle ages English/French fairy tale village to me, while the big royal buildings look Arabian or Persian. It's basically a combination of King Arthur and Aladdin.

And with Orderrealm, you just have to get that not everything in the game is necessarily based on a culture from the real world. "Order" doesn't require inspiration from a foreign country, a circle is a circle, a square is a square, a triangle is a triangle. Smooth walls, buildings without many sides or much complexity, very little decoration, the roads are color-coded so you always know exactly what part of the city you're in...that's what looks orderly so that's what they did.

It's like...if you look at the Washington Monument, does that remind you of something from another country? Or do you just see a very tall needle shape? It doesn't have to be anything more complicated than that.

sorry its just that i was wondering about this in mortal kombat, because eversince learning about how lord of the rings is based on different cultures, i dont know for some reason was this also true for mortal kombat,
especially since lord of the rings was based on the wars of europe and then i started t to get suspicious of other games i have liked
