What style was Shang Tsung's hair?

I wonder if this Shang Tsung could've done with a toupee, or if he used one in some events on his island. Receding for MK1 suited him though. It appeared to be an age thing, or alopecia. Maybe his handmaidens prepared his hair for gatherings.

Never really seen him balding with the (MKA alt) braid, which would've been cool. His hair came back from the dead (MK2).

Whoever it is, there style would have to be nefarious, (parallel or better) to be Shang Tsung's heir.
