Lots of people had their deaths retconned, off the top of my head:

-Scorpion (killed in MKDA, retconned in Deception)
-Kano (killed in MK3, retconned in Deadly Alliance)
-Goro (killed somewhere between MK4 and MKDA, retconned in Deception)
-Shao Kahn (killed in Deadly Alliance, retconned in Deception)
-Mileena (killed in MK2, retconned in Ulitmate 3)
-Johnny Cage (I don't even wanna start with him)

There's more out there, but let's not involve anybody who got revived for Armageddon, because that was just a straight up clusterfuck.

From the moment I saw the thread title, only one name came to my head.

Liu Kang.

He should've remained dead. Or are we only doing retconned characters?

Add Kabal to that list too. He was killed by Mavado in Deadly Alliance, but they have him instead barely live in Deception.

Liu Kang. He's the hero and the everyman. He shouldn't be a zombie.

Liu Kang
Johnny Cage
Kano
Goro (after MK:DA)
Sheeva
Motaro
Hsu Hao

I wasn't opposed to Shao Kahn's survival...but I take issue with the way they had him survive. The whole decoy clone thing was just awful.

Also with Kabal...again, I wasn't against his surviving the attack. But I have a problem with them completely burying Mavado in the process and then dragging out the Black Dragon some more.

to me, Mk1 Sub Zero as Noob Saibot. I have issues with that.

Either keep Mk1 Sub Zero dead and NOT return or make Mk1 Sub Zero Mk1 ending partially true as in he retires from the Lin Kuei and Disappears.
