Premise:

Game set in an alt reality wherein Taven was victorious in Armageddon and the failsafe kicked in. But instead of killing everyone, or even completely weakening them, it dispersed their powers throughout Earthrealm. Now, while no one is reality-threateningly powerful any longer, many more people than there ever were before find themselves in possession of powers beyond those of normal humans.

You choose your home-realm (and your species depending on what realm you're from), the source of your powers (sorcery [Quan Chi, Shang Tsung], infernal [Scorpion, Noob, Drahmin], mystic [Liu Kang, Johnny Cage], tech [Jax, Cyborgs], elemental [SubZ, Smoke], natural [Shokans, Edenians, Kung Lao, etc]), starting realm, and maybe even a patron deity (Earthrealmers can choose Raiden or Fujin, Nether Realmers get Shinnok, maybe some additional back story to fill in some Outworld, Chaosrealm, Orderrealm (assuming they have any), and Edenian dieties)

Don't know what the goal or impetus for travel would be, but what do you think of this concept? Would you play? What would you add?

I always think a MMO of MK would have be pretty awesome if it was done right. As long if its on the 360 then I would buy it.

Sounds basically like DCUO. I really don't like the idea of suddenly having 500,000 Sub-Zeros and Fujins running around, even if the idea is to make it non-canon. So, no.

The work would be better off put into games like Mythologies, where it helps further develop the story while offering great single/multi-player gameplay. It's really hard to have a cohesive story with an MMO anyway.

There's so much opportunity for new spin-off games. I'm far from being a Scorpion fan, but his character would certainly make for an awesome action adventure game. Or new Special Forces game, starring Jax, Sonya and Cyrax.

With 60+ characters and such a rich backstory that has yet to really be explored, it isn't hard to come up with ideas for games. I'd take some of that before an MMO that probably wouldn't even sell enough to last a few months.

An RPG is not a bad idea at all, though.
