TOURNAMENT #1: Apex Evo2012 Qualifier

Players: CD Jr., REO, TS Sabin, Chris G. and more!

Twitch.TV/bifuteki part 1 (start @ 9:30)

Twitch.TV/bifuteki part 2 (only 1 match)

Twitch.TV/bifuteki part 3 (Top 8 conclusion)

Final results & some comments:

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)

1. CD Jr. (Jax, Smoke) -> gets 50 pts for the "Seedings at Evo2012" race
2. Chris G. (Reptile, Noob Saibot) -> 25 pts
3. REO (Kabal, Sonya) -> 10 pts
4. KT Smith (Smoke) -> 1 pt (Everyone else who placed in Top16 got 1 pt.)
... ... ...

Well, that was one of the most one-sided grand finals I've seen. I don't know about Chris G. having Noob Saibot as his back-up for Reptile, I don't think those two work well together (similar bad match-ups?).

CD Jr. has been constantly beating REO for quite some time already. It was interesting to see REO try with Sonya, but it didn't help, went down 0-3 to Junior's Jax. KT Smith is getting closer and closer to those VSM beasts. It'll be interesting to see how much further can he level up.

TOURNAMENT #2: Frosty Faustings IV

Players: Perfect Legend, 16-bit, Slips, Dizzy and more!

Link to the original tourney thread in the Matchmaking Forum.

Twitch.TV Medina4life (Top 8 starts @ 0:03:20)

Final results & some comments:

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)

1. Perfect Legend (Raiden, Kung Lao)
2. Slips (Scorpion)
3. 16-bit (Kitana)
4. Dizzy (Johnny Cage)

I kinda knew these 4 would end up in Top 4. As I've said in the original thread, I enjoyed watching Slips & 16-bit trying to take down The Champ. I thought they did well. Dizzy played nicely too. Stream monsters were very happy to see Slips return and rep Scorpion with some badass play.

Honestly, imo it's a tie between CD Jr. and Perfect Legend on who's the no.1 MK player. So hopefully PL goes to Final Round and we get to see two of them clash.

TOURNAMENT #3: WP Games Cup 2012 Brazil

Players: It was pretty much a showdown between the best Brazilian and Chilean players. In the end the home boys proved superior. Poto2222, the winner of the national Brazil tourney in 2011 was present.

Twitch.TV WPGames (Conclusion of Top 8 - it seems not all early Top 8 matches were streamed.)

Final results & some comments:

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)

1. Mr. Felipe (Kitana)
2. Mr. Diogo (Cyrax)
3. Rafaw (Kabal)
4. Jazz (Mileena)

I was surprised how early on Poto2222 got eliminated as I remember his Sonya being really solid. He was eliminated from the tourney by a Chilean player, Sicario Chile, who played as Kenshi.

Mr. Felipe's Kitana is not bad at all (especially liked his performance against Jazz's Mileena earlier on) and the overall level of play is really solid. I wonder how well would these guys do in US tournaments.

Hey CyberDemon, nice to see you around again! smile

I too really enjoy watching Slips' Scorpion, the way he plays him he makes him look so ninja-ish. Love the way he moves around the arena, love the switch stance baits he does and especially his anti-air punishers. Cool combos too.
