Just 1 question. Sometimes I end up doing a move with Baraka where he kind of stands on his blades and then does a forward kind of a kick with both legs. I always do it accidentally and I can never remember how I did it. Can someone tell me how to do this move. We can use this thread for Baraka discussion.

Btw, he has a great low kick. It's perfect for spamming.

I think it's either his U+4 or F+4. smile I can't test it because my game's been smashed to shit lol. (It was by someone who flips out over the smallest things smh...) Although, if this news turns out to be UMK9, I'll have an excuse to buy it. grin

U+4 limited usefulness, but has its place.

That's definately it thanks. I am trying to think of how I could've accidentally been doing that move.

Seems like a lot of the Baraka's I come across now online tend to turtle and zone now. Like they kinda hang back and wait for the jump in or dash in so they can either spin or do that back back x move. And if i do get in i eat a bunch of D1's and D4's. Its a clever strategy and works pretty well, especially when im a character with a weak zoning game like Cage. For when i zone tho they get in blade charge distance or EX blade charge. I don't play as Baraka much but is this generally the way he's played now? Does he not have a rush down outside of that overhead string (think its 2,2 1+2??) to 4,4??

sorry if this is an overly vague or general question, I'm hung over as fuck. Also i just wanna see more discussion on Baraka.

Baraka is a good rusher, I don't see why people are playing him like lao (using almost only special moves and almost no combos).

Baraka's great up close, he's intended to be played close, he's not like Sektor or Shang Tsung where he's more of a keep away character, his rushing game is pretty good to me.

Baraka players have been playing like keep away turtles and only using his specials as of late, which I find amusing because my response is to shoot them into oblivion with Stryker or glow through their stuff and boomerang them with Jade.

Sektor, is not really a keep away character. He's mixture of mix-ups and zoning + simple medium to long combos.

He's got a great low kick, perfect for spamming in the corner. Trap your opponent in a corner and spam down+4. Many players get stuck. To counter it, block once and jump forward.

Hey just saw an awesome Baraka combo while watching a TYM stream. Not sure if its quite as good as i think it is (other player just might not of been blocking) but it was B3, F2, chop chop, blade dash. (pretty sure it was F2 at least, whatever that kinda slow medium jab move is). But the string is a total mind fuck imo. Low to medium is always tricky in my book.

Not sure if its really a combo in the sense that all the moves blend together (dunno if you can F2 directly after B3, pretty sure you can't) but it is a very clever string. Most people expect B3, 1.

All in all it did 28% damage with no jump in.

It's one of his greatest tools and most of his specials and set ups are reliant on it. A lot of characters are a mixture of mix ups, zoning and simple+ medium to long combos, but if I was going to classify him, keep away is the most proper in my opinion.

He's rather respectable tier wise, so of course he has good options, but yeah thar's what I'd roll with and now back to discussing Barakasmile

Yes, I use the low kick trap if you're in the corner with any character. It works better with the ones that have that long extended low kick like Baraka, mileena, etc.

I wish Baraka had a low hit special.

It's not really a trap though, getting hit by it knocks you further out of range
Incessant poking leaves you open to a well-timed jump in punch combo starter. Poking is effective, but only in combination with everything else, like combos, zoning, good defense etc.

Baraka's down one is more like Kitana's now too; however, it's not an actual trapping attack either.

There's a way to do it where you'll be pushed away once and be at the exact length of the kick. It doesn't always work out that way though

Ack, I take this back. Posted too early. I thought that the guy did B3, F2 (f2 being the overhead) but he actually just did B3, 2, chop chop, blade charge. They look extremely similar but i checked in training mode, after B3 it takes FOREVER to do f2 so never mind on the tricky string. Still a decent combo at least, imo pretty easy to land, just starts with a low, doesn't have an overhead.

Is it just me or Baraka is a good Mileena counter?
