I do not feel good with it.
Those features are too much in favor of offensive players.

Everytime I press the block button, I'm in a frame disadvantage. If I block an attack, my opponent can still continue his assault. To escape, I use D+4, or a neutral jump punch if I anticipate jump in punch combos.
But there is not enough defensive options, the block button slows me down.

Another problem : If I block an attack, I will endure minor guard damage.
Guard damage for special moves is OK, but not for normal moves.
Defense should be more valorized.

What do you think ?
Any tips about using the block button properply ?

Sometimes I duck and spam low kick. Some people just sit there and block. Eventually they die.

To escape it, block one kick and immediately jump forward. But this won't solve all of your blocking problems. Low kicks can be very off-balancing. Try them more.

I never block at all. My defense is ducking, dodging, and jumping. Avoiding enemy attacks. I usually just play offense and just maintain my attacks.

Nope I feel the system is fine because if there were no chips with normals people would just stand there and block. Plus it makes characters with frame traps like Cage, Baraka way more threatening. Plus it pushes the pace of the game.

It's realistic so it makes sense. It'd be stupid to take no damage while blocking.

For the low kicks, yes, they are very useful to escape pressure.
But against them, Jumping forward seems risky : Mileena players, for example, do often this : D+4, D+4 ... and when the opponent wants to jump over it : UB, F +1 ... and combo. Even more, every character can simply counter it by a neutral Jump Punch.
I would say it is more character specific : moves like Jade's DB+2 or Mileena U+4 crush lows and can lead to a juggle.
But since I have to first release the block button and then input my command move ... It is way too slow.

Not at all ? Even against teleports like Smoke, or Sektor ? Blocking them is a free punisher ...
I will still try your method, to vary a bit my gameplay. You know, I'm a very defensive player, but the game force players to be on the offensive.

Even if there is no guard damage, people can't simply stand and block : they will still have to know how to block lows, medium/overhead attacks , and of course, throw escaping.
Guard damage disabled won't affect the pace of the game, it will simply offer more defensive options.

I don't believe it is stupid.
Like I said before, I accept a little guard damage when I block a projectile or other special moves.
But I think receiving minor damages for normal moves is a bit too much.

This is MK, not Tekken. Keep chip damage.

If you use the term "spam" I have no time for your argument.

I think you should rather play Street Fighter. Not being funny but that game will fill all your needs mentioned.

I love chip damage. It is so annoying playing SF against someone that just sits there blocking for 30 seconds.

I definately would have to agree with this (and m0s3pH as well); Tekken and Street Fighter would be more suitable for you when it comes to chip damage. I, too, can't stand it when I'm up against a Turtle fighter and all they want to do is block and run. It's boring as hell and it makes me resort to using the only options I have left: either chipping with specials and throwing until I either win by KO or TO (in SF's case); or throwing and using unblockables until I get a KO or TO (in Tekken's case).

At least in Tekken and Soul Calibur you can turn on chip damage offline.
