Do you listen to music while you play?
I just want to have your opinions. Do you listen to music while you play and do you think it helps?
Imo I think it does. It helps me focus on the game more and it makes me get pumped up and ready for it. I usually listen to some Maiden, D. Theater, J. Priest, Slayer.

No; I actually find "outside noise" to be very distracting, music included.
Although, that would be awesome if I could listen to the klassic stage music and actually hear it... ^hint, hint

Agreed, I too find outside noise to be distracting. A lot of people can listen to music and talk to others as they play, I'd love to be able to do that but I can't unfortunately. My girlfriend has actually told me I hold my breath when I do combos, no idea why I hadn't even noticed it myself but some mates confirmed it lol.

^ confirmed for awesome music taste. Well I would leave the Slayer out and add in some Metallica (in before "overrated"), Ozzy, Killswitch Engage, Devildriver, In Flames, Pantera.

lmao!! How did you know my secret?! Damn, you know me better than I thought!
OF COURSE I DO!! Especially when I'm going through arcade mode or survival mode in a fighting game, playing a FPS, or playing an RPG like Fallout or Elder Scrolls.
When I'm playing fighting games and FPS, I usually turn on some rap, reggae, and rock, such as Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Mad Cobra, Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, Linkin Park, 3 Doors Down, Nickelback; hell even the Guilty Gear X2 AC soundtrack lol!
When I'm playing Fallout or Elder Scrolls, I like to listen to the above mentioned, AS WELL as Techno, Pop, Hip-Hop, and Classic Rock. Not to knock the in-game soundtrack, but I think it's cooler to walk around questing with some real music in the background.
Music: my band or Disturbed, Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Filter or anything metal or a fast beat. I mainly just let it shuffle and do it's magic.
But, I've found that playing with no sound at all has made me a much better player as I only depend on my eyes for everything. Tends to happen when you have small children at home and you're up playing until the wee hours of the morning.

I find melodic death metal, trance metal, and symphonic trance to be the best types of music to listen when playing this game. The following bands have great stuff with hard-hitting beats and rhythm that tends to coincide nicely with beating your opponent to a pulp.
- Silent Descent
- Celldweller (particularly the Beta Sessions 2 album because it's acoustic)
- In Flames
- Dark Tranquility
- The Birthday Massacre (for something with a bit lighter)

Just lower all the other bars in the audio options (to around 40-50%) and set the stage/background music to 100% and then turn the TV volume up a bit (since you end up lowering the "total sound" of the game).

Haha, I dunno, Slayer just never really appealed to me although I will say that Seasons in the Abyss is a fantastic song. I also LOL a mighty LOL everytime I see Jeff Hanneman of late. Dude looks like a high zombie who they just plant on stage and give a guitar to. Not to mention the Darth Vader leggings he wears.
I remember there was this classic moment in the Big 4 concert on DVD where he turns around (obviously to get some feedback going) and it looks like he is confused about which way he should be facing. "Jeff, jeff!! The audience is the other way!!"

Haha! Yeah, I love Seasons In the Abyss. Some asshat on youtube said Dave Lombardo is a shit drummer on that video. I just started laughing so hard.
And LOL @ the Big 4 moment hahaha yeah he turns and faces the amps like wtf Jeff? That's really funny because I remember seeing Kerry and Jeff and they're turned opposite sides. That's pretty cool that you've seen that to.

^ Yeah man, I still went to the cinema the day that thing came out. Was a fantastic atmosphere, almost like being there with people cheering and jumping on the seats (plus you could actually go pee and get drinks without too much effort). Of the big 4 Metallica was the only one I have been lucky enough to see live since metal acts are not too frequent to come to my country.
Also, lol at anyone not thinking Lombardo is awesome. He makes it look so damn effortless. I hate it when people say stupid shit like "Joey Jordison is the best drummer in the world" I mean, really now? Johnny Buchan, Chris Adler, Jordan Mancina, Danny Carey, The Rev, Mike Portnoy and "That Greek dude from Nile" all kick his ass SO hard.

I only listen to house while playing video games, house gets me pumped, especially the up beat and flowing(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hjn1vqheHvU or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IagavGuLBW8 for example maybe even http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAgj1LgqgXM).
