Fighting Game Fundamentals Explained

I finally had to just make a new account here as my old one is... old.

So for my first post back on MKO, I'll post my fundamentals video. I hope this helps some of you out there with grasping the basics of fighting games.

Well siad SoCalHoneyBadger Hold your Ground dont Rush or Run Away Self Defence but my technique for zone wiff punishing has always been keepin a front flips distance away and back dashing away from a frontflip attack or a back one combo starter and punishing the enemies wiff with a big back 1 combo starter combo of my own. This is the true Zoning technique i dont know who came up with calling projectile spamming Zoning but its absord. Also its not a wiff punish but its another punishing combo starter from this same scenario. To mix this technique up even more when they relize what your doing but most wont....but if they do when they flip towards you and dont attack outta the flip and your zone wiff punish fails jump towards them in mid air hit them outta the air with a single punch then dash forwards then forward 1,2..forward 1,2 down 1,special combo ender or X-Ray/Fatal Blow. Or Down 1 Projectile like kitanas fan or Kabals and then the special combo ender XRay/Fatal Blow.

I dont play street fighter but what footsies has always been in my mind has been doing 2 single back 3 shin kick pokes then an overhead Kombo starter that kontinues into like a 50-60% midscreen kombo. I've never liked Korner Kombos I see them as Exploits. Ive always tried to keep it midscreen unless I do a 50-50 reset or 2 out of a Kombo into another Kombo bringing it all the way to the korner...It seems MKX and MK11 lack in alot of high skilled gameplay unless you just like konstantly resetting a very small kombo that takes very little skill to keep your enemy on the defensive with these specials that take 25%hp and 50% enhanced like scorpions spear when he swings it around which i hate doing stuff like this because it takes so very little of skill I see it as DisHonorable. The only big pay off for high low mix ups, overhead and low Kombo starters, specials and resets for me is using them all in ahuge Kombo I loved Quan Chi in MK9 for this very reason and MK9 Cyrax 4 his massive midscreen reset Kombos also, MKvsDC Raiden 4 his shin Kick and Teleport Kombo that started with an OverHead I think it was like 62% or something.

But another thing I dont like about MKX and MK11 it feels like the D-Pad has a DeadZone set in the menu and if you dont hit it right on the head at the 0.001 area that its set to it wont accept your kombo input leading to alot of dropped kombos. So then you have to start your kombo over and over cuz so many failed combos and that leads to spammy gameplay in th community kuz new players think thats what the games about..You Know ?"Monkey See Monkey Do!"? Im Sorry it looks Great Visualy but You messed this game up. Also everything is dumbed down the combo inputs all seem to be super easy Liu Kang 3,3,3 bicycle kick I played against a 10 year old that couldnt land this combo so he just spammed this 3,3,3 and did enhanced bicycle kicks that takes Half of your Health Bar, fire balls upper cuts and if you get all this spam and add ontop a bunch of spammed uppercut Crushing Blows and Fatal Blows all you need to do is spam and litterally put your Kontroller Down and smash it with your face and role your face back and forth to win and oh yeah be a 10 year old. You want to know what he siad after I beat him the 1st 3 matches and he changed his character to LiuKang he siad after he won "You Kinda Suck your a noob this is what you get for thinking you Know how to Play Liu Kang." When i was playing Kung Lao with Possesed Hat and Spiritual Guidance on poppin off 13 hit kombos every other attack I did. I just went to find Next player cuz i new i got lucky for beating him 3 times when he didnt have a character he perfected how to spam with.These 2 game titles look great but the mechanics are terrible Fatal Blow should Be Given to the person winning not to the person with low health if Crushing Blow kontinues to stay in the game... Also the popups and dashes are so far off from matching up id rather play katch with a grenade sometimes. They should reinstate the game back to 2 juggles with 3 strings of 3hit kombos with specials instead of what it is 2 strings with 1 popup or whatever it is now its whack. Its made everything a hundred times easier for the Kasual spammer to win its for sure a kasual friendly style mode of MK this way and its really not fun to the hardcore Fighting gamer like this.

Careful of relying on mix. Live by the mix up, die by the mix up. Proper spacing is a better choice than fishing for mixups.

I Know but the Back Dash shimmy i Rely on for spacing is non existance in mk11 this game is spam to win its not fun to me I wont even let myself be dishonored by the way this online VS community plays cuz the mechanics alow it to outclass everything ive learned about MK since 1990. Its a shamefull way to play when mashing buttons fast outskills the combo system. Even when im doing the 50/50 reset with sub zero its Just a way to gain new fan cuz if it were set up for skill to come out on top the newbies wouldnt stay. I say we stop using three different varriations next game and give every character a full variety of special's and abilities get rid of the timings and balance every hit to the same speed and have the art of huge kombo selection's for true skill to overcome all spam.

They tried so hard for the fans here just to play dress up it seems they forgot fighting games are for good fight styles not a game of spammy rockpaper scissors and dress up dolls. Optimal timings have got to go its not working.

How are you going to let some body who has full round full kit combos and katas set up and ready to go b4 the round starts lose to a recycled rotation of jades overhead and low 2 different 3 hit combos mix with footsie spam and special kick. When i got 20 years of fighting game experience on them it Ludikris just release backwards compat MK9 and ill pay double the price i did for everything in MK11.
