I figured we should have one thread dedicated to Freddy's gameplay, that way any discussion of his gameplay doesn't get lost in the countless other Fred threads. Please keep this discussion solely to Freddy's GAMEPLAY, not how much you hate him being in the game. If you don't like him for his gameplay, fine, discuss it.

I practiced with him for a bit earlier and he seems pretty solid. He's sort of like a combination of Jax, Smoke, and Mileena in terms of his special moves.

Also, it's super easy to get a 40+% combo using his X-ray. He might actually need to be toned down a bit. I'll practice more later.

i practiced a little, did a run through the arcade ladder on normal. id say hes really good, but i need more practice with him.

i found a simple xray combo that does about 40% damage. B1,2,U1,xray.

Take it to the Strategy Zone here
And I've only played with him for 10-15 minutes so I can't say much. His Nightmare Stance is pretty good

How long do people need to be here before they realize that forum exists? Moving it now.

My whole point in posting it in the MK11 forum was so that we could get a big discussion going on it...I think there are maybe 5 people that check the strategy zone, as sad as it is :(

Freddy is a power-house if he has some meter in him.

His F4 2 1 is ridiculously strong, doing 16+% damage by itself, and it's a pop up that can lead into some Hell Spike combos.

He's pretty nimble, has a good projectile and low projectile. You can also use his Sweet Dreams special to mix people up. Cast it down, and if they block high, start his B3 3 combo and nail them with that, and if they block low, hit them with the B2 and start a combo.

I haven't been impressed yet from any one using Freddy online. I seem to whoop ass with Reptile. He seems better than I expected though.

That's the thing about Freddy, he has a shit wakeup game. The only move that is semiplausable to use as a wakeup is his dream shift.

Even still you might get hit out of it.

Don't get caught in the corner, and if you do, you're gonna have to burn a bar and use his ex dream shift. After you do use it, keplep shifting away to keep from getting put back in the corner.

Yeah, he has a lot of strengths, so he has to have some weakness. You can trash a freddy user simply by knocking him down and rushing him.

i took freddy online today for the first time, thinking that i hot gotten the hang of him. i was wrong. i am getting my ass handed to me! though that might be because if only encountered raiden's and ermacs so far (the only 2 characters i cant seem to beat), and 1 sindel that just spammed projectiles until i go close, then upcut me away again (i tried my hardest to not fall for it...).

freddy not being able to teleport through moves other than projectiles is just annoying. youd think that he'd be able to, see as how smoke can (or atleast could, havent played him in forever).

anyone have any tips on how to play well with freddy? im great with sub zero and kung lao, but freddy is a nightmare to play as! EDIT: pun not intended >_>

use his dream shift to play mind games with people. I usually use it at the start of the round and shift towards them.

also try doing a jump in punch followed by his B3 3 combo, and then cancel into his EX hell spike, then enjoy a free combo.

B3 3 is very important because it is a low starter, and noobs tend to only block high, so this will land almost every time.

If they start blocking low, then use his B2 followed by a regular hell spike. If the hell spike lands, follow that with an EX hell spike and then enjoy a free combo.

I got comboed by a pretty good Freddy player for 45% and he made it look so easy..... if Freddy has a easy 45% combo that he can do in whatever situation basically then yeah I'm scared now. Especially when it seems like he has a good mixup game with lows.

i used freddy in practise for a while, learnt a few combos and thought he was great. but for some reason when i took him online i just couldnt quite do anything O.o

it was like id be fine if i could block a teleport and punish or something, but i wasnt actually able to initiate anything myself.

like with kung lao i tend to immediately launch into a dive kick, and use a lot of teleports to get in close and combo. with reptile, i use slow acid balls and either dash to get in close or quickly use acid spit to catch them off their guard after blocking the acid ball.

but with freddy, i just dont really know what to do :/
probably just a lack of practise, might have to spend a lot of time offline with him first against the AI.

nevertheless, any help would be appreciated?

freddy is really strong, but like you said, he can't really initiate stuff that well.

his gameplay really reminds me of cyrax. Cyrax doesn't have any low combo starters, so the only way to really get into a combo is to start it off of a jump in punch.

the same goes for freddy. Try initiating a combo with a jump in punch BUT freddy has a low starter, being B3.

Jump in with a JIP, then combo in with B3 3 xx EX Hell Spike.

This is what I mainly use as my BnB starter combo.

Hope that helps.

Freddy literally has every tool this game has to offer aside from a parry move. AND he has 60% one bar combo's. Too overpowered in my opinion

The only 60% combo Freddy has is a corner combo.

My BnB midscreen 1 bar combo for Freddy does 58%

Freddy has no wake-up game whatsoever. Put him in the corner and he's good as dead, especially if he has no meter to use his EX Dream Shift to get out of the corner.

Freddy also has no aggressive, far reaching attacks. Most other character attacks out prioritize his attacks.

he's strong, but definitely on par with the other heavy hitting fighters.
