So I feel like I'm getting kind of good with Liu Kang, but even with my best character I seem to have a hard time against really aggressive players. How do you guys handle it when somebody tries to be in your face the entire match? I use Liu Kang's counter fairly well, but when they hit me as soon as I get up it seems like I don't have enough time to pull it off. It's especially difficult to deal with when you get in a corner against a player like this (Kung Lao is the worst). I just want them to back off of me for a second, but I've yet to find a sure-fire way to slow them down. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Well, you have all wake-up attacks that give you start-up invincibility, so no time no pull anything off when getting up shouldn't be an issue.

Hmm... well I am that aggressive style player. These things give me trouble:

1. full screen projectiles, especially noobs body tackle.
2. jumpers
3. Heavy blocking
4. Good poking games
5. Equally aggressive players
6. Smart teleporters (I play as Nightwolf, so I lack a teleport)

I am able to beat all of it though, but Im pretty experienced and a little bit naturally gifted at the game.

Ya, be equally aggressive. Do this by doing fast high and low mix-ups. For instance..

Hit them with a high combo, then instantly do a ducking kick or low punch, then back to a high combo, then a combo that hits low. Variations like that will throw your opponent off. When you get good at that game, and start doing it fast, players with have a hard time guessing what is coming next. Never just sit there and block, I mean yes lots of blocking is important, but if you do it to much you get caught in the players furry which will chip your life away till your dead. Or they can easily throw you..

Thanks a lot guys. I went into practice mode and found that the bicycle kick as a wake-up attack really works wonders when they stay in your face.

About spamming projectiles: I find that it is a really successful strategy against predictably aggressive players, but then they bitch and moan about me having no skill and I feel bad and end up losing because I stop exploiting their weaknesses. It's like my sub-conscious doesn't allow for it haha. I guess I just have to get a little meaner.

I'm of the opinion that you should do whatever you need to do to win, and nobody should get upset about that. Unless of course you're playing with friends, in which case you should probably not be a bitch smile

if they're unable to block a projectile or adapt to your spamming, then THEY are the players with no skill. never change your strategy just to please some whiny bitter noob.

A good way to stop hyper-aggressive players is to keep them at a distance that is both one you are comfortable with and suitable for your character. Stryker is great against these types of players because you can use his gun and grenades to keep people away, and if they get close you can try getting a throw or a roll.

So dont worry about it, and quit playing noobs.

Stupid question, but how exactly do you do wake up attacks? I haven't really practiced this very much and the few times I did try I couldn't pull it off. Don't judge me tongue

Immediately when you hit the ground from being knocked down, input the command for a special that is compatible for wake-up attacks.
