I am really amazed at how much sub zero gets to me. I use reptile a lot and there is no teleport to get behind a sub zero who uses the ice shield and freeze ball. I can't jump over the freeze ball because of the ice shield. Against a good player a long range fireball fight doesnt work either. I know what they are going to do but I can't get around it. Can't shoulder charge or slide into those ice shields.

Use EX dash to get past the ice clone, it has armor so it will protect you from the ice ball too, always stay close to him so he can't use ice clone, when he gets far from you immediately use fast slime ball or acid spit so it hits him after he does the ice clone.

Part of the problem was that he was getting off ice clones very very close to me. I thought it had a bigger range than it actually did. I don't use enhanced moves a lot but I might have to.

Reptile has one of the fastest projectiles in the game. I would imagine you could just stay far enough away to render his slide ineffective. After that, just chip him to death with acid spit. Eventually you'll have x-ray, and if you see any start-up animation at all, make his eyes pay for it.

If you use the term "spam" I have no time for your argument.

This is true.
Sub Zero is a great matchup for Reptile. While he is trying to get a clone on stage you get a slow forceball on stage. Advantage Reptile. A forceball is like a moving clone if you think about it. He either has to jump (then hit him with a fast fb or a spit), or block (jump over his clone and start punishing, you have the much better close-in game) also, scroll down to the Thread I did about top ten/ bottom 5. There is a link to a great Reptile v Sub Zero match that should give you plenty ideas.

if i ever see a person openly pick sub-zero, i pick noob and zone the living shit out of him.

don't know any strats for reptile against subby though.

Sub users are generally terrible against zoning, so putting out lots of spits and forceballs will definitely help. i wouldn't be aggressive though, that's when they really like to throw out ice clones.

Noob is a good matchup against Sub-Zero, as is any character who is very quick in close - Kung Lao, Sonya, and Kabal come to mind. As for Reptile vs. Sub, it's pretty even. You're going to want to stay on him to prevent the clones from coming out, but Reptile isn't terribly fast; your options here are to either try to out-zone with chip damage or to frustrate Sub by dodging and getting him to try to be too aggressive, since Sub is easy to punish on block. Reptile has great anti-airs too, so offensive-minded Subs don't stand a chance against him. Sub can be a problem for anyone who doesn't employ patience, so you're going to have to be willing to take some chip damage or be choosy with when to attack if you want to beat him.

By the way, I lol at anyone who picks Noob against me now. I counter with Mileena and tear them apart.

Actually Reptile is the fastest with his dash, you can stay on Sub-Zero the whole match if you want, just trying to be careful not to eat a slide.

I was mostly referring to attacks, not movement. Reptile may have a quick dash but nearly all of his attacks have a certain degree of startup to them. You can get in and out against any character because of his foot speed, but you have to be able to out-priority them as well and Reptile isn't the best at that.
