Lovely 39% damage combo vs the Scorpion player as well as the X-ray combo on Jacqui. Nice run pressure following a low hat in buzzsaw variation. Which variation is your favorite btw? Hat Trick KLs have started showing up in tournies lately, early on it was all Buzz Saw.

How has been your online experience thus far?

Sick stuff dude. I've never even seen the hat trick brutality, that was so fuckin cool. The comeback against the guy playing jacqui was hype as well.

My favorite is Buzzsaw. But I like Tempest as well. I'm trying to use Hat Trick more often but for me, the only benefit is the EX hat throw. I get blasted everytime I try and set up the hat traps.

The overall online experience has been mostly pleasant. Netcode is hit or miss and I often fight a myriad of Inferno Scorpions, Bojutso Kung Jins, Piercing Mileenas, and Master of Souls Ermacs. But I do have a lot of good matches in between though.

Me too i cannot use hat trick, but i really want to cuz i love the glowing dragon lol. Ive tried practicing but i cant prevent getting hit whenever i try to set up the hat, its just not worth the effort.

That was pretty good. I played someone the other day in koth that played just like that, using buzzsaw. I wonder if it was you? I'm on ps4 I was using thunder God raiden. I got crushed in the first round but took the last two in a big way lol.

Your Kung Lao is a beast! Any tips on versing him online? I cringe everytime I go up against a Lao.

Yeah I kinda wish the hat would only come back if KL calls it back or if it was out for too long. Because as it is, one hit and it goes right back on his head. And it takes time to set that shit up. At least Master of Storms Raiden doesn't get his lightning orb taken away if he gets hit.

As for tips, well I rarely fight other KLs. But I can at least give you some of my habits as a KL player.

General tips:

Low blocking is pretty effective against KL. He has no mixups that end in Overheads, only lows.

A lot of times after my opponent blocks a string, they'll think they can punish but I have two things I do for this: 1. Immediately jump back and do a dive kick. 2. If I have meter I'll EX spin. Always beware of this after you successfully block strings against KL.

Try not to spam projectiles against KL. He can teleport and punish with full conbos.

Buzzsaw tips:

Be prepared to block low even more during strings. I tend to end every chain with the low hat in this variation. Also, every time you get knocked down, expect a low hat. So either block low on wake up or delay your wake up.

Careful with jumps too. If I see you abusing jumps be prepared for Up hats.

Tempest tips:

In this variation I'll end strings with the hat spin, which allows for a quick follow up. So be prepared for a mixup immediately following the hat spin.

Save your breakers against this variation. This one has seriously high damage output. Always try to keep a breaker stocked if you can.

Be wary of the EX spin. It is even more effective against jumping in this one so make sure to mind that.

Hat Trick tips:

In the unlikely event you actually DO come across one of these, just remember the EX hat throw acts like a boomerang in this variation. So be prepared to see a mixup following the hat.

I'm awful with Lao so I'll have to try some of this out. Haven't checked out your montage yet as I've been mobile all day, but I will once I get home. Hoping to learn a few tricks as well as new combo ideas.

As for the music, I happened to be listening to the song while I was making the video. I thought I'd make a decent song for the video so I put it in.

Watched the video last night and it inspired me to take Lao into Practice. Best I could come up with was 30%, but that was a corner combo. I just can't seem to get the hang of timing following his pop-ups.

Jealous of them skillz.

try using tempest, I can bust out 40% midscreen really easy with 1 bar of meter, in the corner best I got is 45% with 1 bar. Tempest lays down some wonky damage in a hurry

Really it just takes practice. After awhile you'll be getting down combos no problem. You just gotta really stick to it.

At this point I can officially say that I am enjoying Kung Lao. Took quite some time, but I've finally got the hang of his play style. It'll be nice to unlock all of Lao's Kombat Kard stuff that's been haunting me!
