Online Gameplay: are you at a disadvantage if?...your using a xbox controller? should I use the fight stick?

So Im loving the game except for the fact that online I get creamed, but when I play others like firends at home my plays are very fluid and even in offline play my gameplay runs smoothly, I dont know if there is alot of lag online but I dont understand it, I use the xbox 360 controller. Is it better to play with the fight stick in the tourny edition? In online fights, its like my movements are laggy, no matter what commands I press, my characters attacks are executed slower than my opponents, and its like even if Im blocking my character blocks a tad bit late. I know the 360 has a horrible d-pad and I am struglling to use it but should I just drop the 360 controller all together? I do have the tourney edition but Im not too great with the fight stick either. Please someone give me any suggestions.

Hey there,

Well the 360 d-pad is awful, but I don't think that is the cause for slow inputs. The 360 d-pad will have problems with accidentally inputting wrong movements, but not speed issues (at least with MK).

The online for this game, from what I've read, is horrible. My experience is on PS3, which is a problem in itself at the moment, but the online is just unacceptable. Don't beat yourself up about it too much.

But if you still want to improve your game, you can try out one of the new 360 controllers (the one with the twist d-pad), or go with a fightstick. Any fightstick will have a bit of a learning curve, but after you get used to it, you should be a lot more precise than with an old style 360 controller.

The xbox controller is just all-around horrible for this game. The d-pad is as responsive as a rotting possum, and the analog stick is TERRIBLE for dashing inputs, and considering that half the moves in this game start with forward forward or back back... ugh.

Totally agreed. The Xbox 360 controller is fucking me over, especially with Ermac and his down back and then dash everything.

To me the button layout on the fightstick looks really awkward. And is a stick in general like using the analog on a xbox 360 controller?? I need to upgrade from an xbox 360 controller but don't know if I should shell out the money to get a stick, considering I literally do not have the skills to pay the bills.

I've been looking at this controller online however. Anybody know if it'd be good for MK?? Its the Marvel vs Capcon controller for Xbox.

That controller isn't bad. The Hori EX2 fight stick is the same price, though, so if you'd rather have a fight stick, go with that one.

I use the new 360 controller and i LOVE it. You can twist the DPAD to work how you want it. Normal or a + pattern. As i play the game I find myself naturally going from dpad to stick mid game though

Yea I love the new controller too i can pull off awesome kombos and everything
