Sorry for the low quality video, just wanted to get this out there for those wanting to get a look at Rain and can't download yet.
Enjoy!
Here's the vid
If you use the term "spam" I have no time for your argument.
How are his mixups looking?
Is he difficult to use, or is he deceptively simple?

He has some simple, high 20 - low 30% combos.
And 3 of his specials can start or continue a combo (Super Kick, Water Bubble, and Lightning all pop up opponent).
I haven't even really messed with the H2O Boost move. I know it gives you a damage boost and disables blocking. Normal version lasts about 4-5 seconds. Enhanced version lasts about 8-9 seconds and further increases the damage boost.
I'm not sure if he has any mix-ups (I'm assuming those are high/low combos?)...
The enhanced Water-port move actually adds a hit (2 actually) to it. 13% at that! Just found that out so may have to mess with that in some combos now...

Woa, awesome work man. LOVE the poster you made there as well.
Hehe, thanks! Made that myself, it's my pride and joy! Never have to look for a Fatality code again.
I like his X-ray more because it finishes with his superb roundhouse kick, I was hoping that was the effect instead of a normal roundhouse.
Question, can you do pretty high damage while incorporating the water orb into your combos or does it scale down the damage a lot more. Thanks for sharing!

I don't think they do, or if they do, it isn't much at all. I'm pretty sure I could have switched out the Lightning for the Water Orb in this combo and it would still have worked the same. At first, I actually shot the opponent with the Water Orb as they were falling from the Lightning, but it doesn't increase the damage any, so I just left it out.

Nice work!

I say that he's a little difficult to use. If you're not use to doing combos in the game, you might have a problem using Rain. Rain does have a few easy combos you can do, but you gotta work hard for the insane combos since it's about "timing".

Alright. Thanks for the info.
I'll download him in an hour or two and see how he works.
Rain is one of the most intuitive characters in the game. I sat down with him for about twenty minutes and here's what I figured out.
Roundhouse = sends opponent into air for a combo.
Water Bubble = sends opponent into air for a combo.
Lightning = sends opponent into air for a combo.
And yet he's so much fun! I hate to say it, but I'm going to be using him more than Kenshi. I love Kenshi. Rain has always been that work buddy of a mutual friend to me. Fun to drink with, but never spend all that much time with him. That's going have to change now.
"A wise man sees failure as progress / a fool divorces his knowledge and misses the logic / and loses his soul in the process / - canibus
jump in+1, b+2, 1+2,++b+2, 1+2, ++1, 1, qcb+2,++qcb+4, 4, xray, 4, 3 (15 hits 45% mid-screen)
you can swap the xray out with the bf+3 or the qcb+3 for decent damage and no meter usage....

Really fun to combo with, has a ton of potential for some sick lengthy combos, he doesn't do high damage for the most part but that is probably because he has 3 different juggle specials lol.....love that you can get a couple extra hits after the xray too.....
the tough part about him imo is that his chain that does the most damage in his linked combos is the b+2, 1+2 starter, and the amount is considerable (about 6% more in my tinkering with other chains).....this chain is DANGEROUS if your opponent sees it coming, the recovery is crazy slow so you are pretty much locked in for a ride if your opponent capitalizes, so be careful about being too focused on using this to start all your long or high damage combos....
good news is you have some great options from all ranges with his specials being able to start the juggles....so you can play a nice zoning game yet at the same time zone with intent for high damage combos if your lightning hits or your bubble hits....
obviously we're only on day 1 and the expert combo makers will probably come up with some killer stuff, but after labbing a little bit with him i'm dissapointed with the effectiveness of his primary chains when playing a rush down game....seems like more of a zoning character to me, that's just my opinion though obviously i would love to here some opinions on this....
H2O Boost, jump in+1, 4, 3, lightning strike, super roundhouse, 1, X-ray, uppercut.
This is the most damaging combo I've found so far. The timing on the X-ray can be a little difficult following the standing punch but other than that it is solid and not too difficult.
Rain seems to have a lot of combo possibilities. He's really fun so far.
31%, no special meter
jump in+2, 3, super roundhouse, 2, lightning bolt, 2, water bubble (position over your head), geyser kick.
If you sub in the enhanced geyser kick at the end the damage increases to 34%.
Again the only tricky part (an its not really that tough) is to get the water bubble to connect after the standing punch.

Mid-screen combo for Rain. Super easy to do but requires full meter, which is fine because his X-Ray sucks.
e-Boost, JPS, BP, ce-Lightning, e-Super Kick, uppercut.
7 hits, 48%.
Another serious combo.
(wall) e-Boost, JPS, FP, BP, F+BK, BP, ce-Lightning, e-Super Kick, uppercut.
10 hits, 55%.
50%, Xray. (noo boost) mid screen.
BK, FK, lightning xx super roundhouse xx BK, FK, xray xx BK, FK, B+BK.
Boom shakalaka! Extreme timing on the last 3 hitter. If you mess up on the BK, FK, B+BK I think it's still 44%. Boo-fucking hoo :-p. Replacing the last "BK, FK, B+BK." with FP, FP, water jet is safer and your % only suffers by 1. . So... BK, FK, lightning xx super roundhouse xx BK, FK, xray xx FP, FP, water jet = 49%.
Try this:
JP, 4, 3, Lightning, 4, 3, Super Kick, 4, 3, Water Bubble, 4, 3
42% mid-screen, no meter.
The timing is really hard (for me at least), and so far I've only landed it on passive opponents You can replace the last 4, 3 with a Geyser Kick for the same amount of damage.
If you then do enhanced versions of the special moves (not Water Bubble) you should get pretty good damage.
