do you think special moves should cancel each other out midscreen in mk 10?

also should they put the run button back in? should they put parrying in? and should you be able to cancel moves?

I'd definitely vote "nay" on the run button. I really like how footsies have developed in MK9, and I feel reintroducing the run button would be a step backwards. That said, I haven't played UMK3 at high-level, so I can't fairly compare the two styles.

As for trades/no-trades on projectiles... that's a hard one. In the next game, I would like to see projectiles cancel out mid-screen, but in this game, that mechanic would hurt a lot of characters. Sub-Zero relies heavily on trades with his ice ball, and losing that advantage could change a lot of matchups for him.

Well, it's all about the mid-range options. When your character is in the margin that ranges from sweep distance to outside of jump distance, that's where a lot of the mind-games start. A general (though probably not comprehensive) list of options would look like this:

- dash in with a low poke
- back dash for a whiff punish
- jump in for pressure or potential punish
- dash in for close-jump setup
- execute special move (reasons will vary)

In a nutshell, the dash mechanic is sort of the nucleus of good offense/defense. If you take the dash out, footsies loose a lot of sophistication IMO. Could there be a coexistence of dashing and running? Maybe. It's hard to say because I never really had a strong enough footing in UMK3 to recognize "good use of running" vs "bad use of running."

Run - Definately not. If there is a MK4 timeline in MK10, and there is a engine that is part 2D and part 3D like MK4, please not this again: "Turn, Run, Uppercut, Turn, Run, Uppercut, Turn, Run, Uppercut, ect."

Parry: Maybe, depends on who gets it. Maybe with Kobra or Tanya.

Specials Cancel Out: No, that way, you get damage in, and so does your opponent! Yay, we're all friends [creepy Joker smile].

Cancel Special Launch: Yes. Plain and simple.

Add Kobra, Kira, Kabal, Tanya, Sareena, Mileena, Kitana, the ushe.

Certain projectiles should cause an explosion and knock the characters in the blast vicinity back with some damage of course.
