I don't think there is any sort of conclusion (at least in my opinion), but the following characters are VERY good (in no particular order):

Kung Lao
Cyrax
Reptile
Kano
Sub-Zero
Johnny Cage

There are other characters that can hang with them, but these characters will be towards the top of most people's list.

@OP, there is a thread in which we are having preliminary discussions just on this page. Pls feel free to contribute your thoughts. After EVO we will start a thread (that will hopefully get stickyd) about the full tier list. Plenty of bitching and moaning about "why is my favourite here and not here" is expected. But that's cool, we are all passionate about this game and no two people will EVER agree on the same tier list.

@Darkpassanger, I will bet everything I have Cyrax will not be at 2. He will not be top 5 and I actually have a hard time seeing him in top 10 (although for now he just makes it in there). But also please post your top ten in the discussion thread so we can get an average. EDIT: My apologies, I see you did specify that those were in no particular order. But without his reliable bomb trap Cyrax is just goodish, definitley not very good.

Cyrax definitely isn't anywhere near where he was, but did you see Trophyclub at the last tourney? He was playing a mean Cyrax without the bomb trap.

I'll be competing in MK, but only spectating the others (have been mainly focusing on MK for the past couple of months!)

I did pretty well at Summerslam last weekend (4th place), I made some mental notes of my weaknesses, and I'm hoping I can do well at ECT.

And to the Raiden being top tier thing, I just read that the latest patch made it so his 3,3,4 can be interrupted after the 3,3. And his B3, 1, 2 can be crouch jabbed on block or x-rayed, and it was already slow to come out in the first place. Also both these combo's are now -1 on block . I haven't been able to play online and therefore have not received said patch, but to people who are playing as him are you guys having trouble with any of this stuff? I'm really hoping he hasn't been nerfed into oblivion cause he was fun as fuck to play as.

Yeah, MK is a great game, and I really want the scene to thrive--I'm bugging everyone who plays fighters in my area to get out to the tourneys for MK.

Currently, I'm mainly playing Liu Kang, but since he struggles against Noob and other great zoners, I've been keeping up on Sektor. I also have a pretty good Sub, so I could switch between the three depending on matchups and play style.

Lol, I agree dude, that forum has hit an all-time low since Scarlet came out. Just fucking retarded beyond belief. I try spend my time here and I notice that more peole are starting to pay some attention (still not enough but I feel like it's getting better). It's up to us guys who know what the real reason for fighting games are to be active here and try to convert the "hair-physics" club.

Good to see Check showing up at tourneys as well, I still haven't seen him on stream. At CEO he was eliminated in pool stage. Do you happen to know if Konqrr is gonna be there? I'm a fan of his.




Sektor? That's awesome! I'd love to see more of him in the tourneys, he's one of my mains as well. I still think he's underrated at the moment.

I've seen Sektroll play one match against OnlineTony who plays Kabal. He lost in what was a very close match, but they played before the patch 1.02 came out and OnlineTony was using Kabal's block infinite. Maybe if they meet again, in post-patch 1.02 time, the outcome might be different.

i'd go with that, but possibly add nightwolf, maybe ermac and DEFINITELY raiden.
