Great find Temp, glad to see local tourney scenes coming to life, great that casuals can just play and have fun. I wanna find out if they're having a tourney in Michigan, p.s. I haven't forgotten about your response and will get back to you soon:)

My friend said Casual Gamer was gathering up a fighting scene, so we both did some research and it sounds like the place is gaining momentum. Unless there's some sort of work emergency, I should be at the tournament.
And no worries about the thread response. I still haven't responded to Shoe's post yet. To be honest, I'm not much of a General Discussion guy these days. My conversational forum stamina is not what it use to be.

Just got back from the tournament. I got first place out of 8 people, and the grand finals were between me and my sparring partner
I'm going to be honest. This was a very cheap victory. Only three people at the tournament knew what they were doing, and me and my friend were two of them. The MvC3 tournament had 15 people and most of them were competent Marvel players.
After that tournament transpired, two thirds of the venue just vanished. It was incredibly disheartening. I asked some of the remaining people why they didn't participate in MK, and most were either not interested or were outright hostile towards the franchise. I'm glad I went ( I won $20), but getting 5th place in SSF4AE was a far more fulfilling and meaningful experience.
I want a local MK scene, but I can only do so much. You can make elaborate arguments to the naysayers all day about how competitively viable MK2011 is, but if you can't make people love the game, then none of that shit matters.
