It's going to take an iron will to NOT main Shazam. The fact that they gave him Smoke's Akuma-port could be nothing other than a sign from above.
As for the actual matches... they're getting better. There's less standing around and more whiff punishes and move interruptions. I still don't know why they couldn't just use footage from tournament players (or even developers). Hopefully progress won't end with this week.
Lex looks a lot bigger than I thought he'd be. I didn't expect this game to have so many large heavy hitters. That shield looks like it's potentially effective, but they'll have to design his offense around it. He'll need one of two things for it to be game-changing
1) He'll need to be able to cancel into it during block strings.
2) He'll need some quick way to bridge the gap in battle.
It looks like he has moves that bring the opponent towards him, but we'll need to know their properties before making any judgement. If the vacuum thingy is blockable (and I hope it is), it's not going to do much for his shield gimmick. Holding back to block compounds the problem. Thankfully, his forward dash looks amazing, so if nothing else, that's a good sign his shield gimmick is going to be dangerous.
And for the joker... maaan, I can't get hype for this guy. If I made a list of the top ten things I love about the Joker, fighting ability would not be one of them. And yes, I know: they're explaining his match-up ability via story mode, but that's not really the issue. Fighting ability doesn't make the Joker any cooler for me, just like psychotic tendencies and criminal expertise wouldn't make Shazam any cooler for me. I was hoping the gameplay would sell me, but it was pretty much exactly what I expected. I love the Joker, but not as a fighting game alter-ego.
Ironically, Lex (who was the least exciting character for me thus far), ended up winning me over. I'm curious to see where he falls tier-wise.

Yeah, he does. Would not have called that, lol.
