I've been asking for KAK8 for a while now, but to no avail.

I'm not sure if we'll ever see it. Hopefully, we will.

I'm not a particularly creative guy, I'm like a mental Hotaru (rules rules rules) but I'd love to see a new KAK, some of you guys have amazing ideas!

Well with the new game coming out it should hopefully bring in more users to this sight and hopefully bring more interest to the idea.

That's exactly my line of thought. NRS is creating new characters so we should too! I think we just need show enough support for another KaK and not expect one right away as these things take time. I'm also going to message crow and Mick_Lucifer and see if there is indeed a KaK in the pipeline. I'll update as I hear more.

If there is going to be a new one it probably won't be until after the new game comes out, so prepare for a 2 year wait

i think the only reason MKA had KAK was because they needed more content to justify the game being bad XD

Gecko we are talking about the Kreate a Kharacter contests that mortalkombatonline does from time to time. Everyone makes their own character with their own story and the website votes on who they think the best one is.

IMs have been sent out to those who have overseen the previous contests, a new sig has been created to try and raise awareness of the tournament and all I can do now is wait. Hopefully not 2 years

Why can't someone just host it themselves? Why does the site need to do it?

We're not capable of adequate forum organization and structure for a KAK tournent.

It takes a mod to do that. Besides, the odds for success will be higher with a mod in our corner.

Did the winner of the last KAK contest ever get his prize? I remember there were some problems with that... And because of that fiasco, I'm not sure the mods of this site are qualified to host another one of these.

Maybe we can do it without prizes, at least not the complicated ones.

I'm sure we can still get the artwork by JAX007, which I think would be cool. In any case, why don't we just do it without a grand incentive? It never really seemed liked anyone cared too much about the prizes anyway. I know I didn't. lol

I do hope Ekimaru got his prizes, though. He earned those bitches fair and square.

My character has been waiting since January 2013 (when the previous kontest began) and I have never given up hope for the KAKVIII Kontest. The character is an Oni with a tremendous amount of bloodlust than Moloch and Drahmin. I am pretty sure people will like the originality of the character, who I will not further reveal until the next contest. I do not care about the prizes; The thrill and support from competing is what matters to me.

Wow, I will participate this kontest if it come, just want to be fun with MK fans since my English language is not so good for writing a good story.

Good news everyone. I've been told by Mick-Lucifer that plans for a new KaK are in the works. The direct quote is:

"It's definitely on the table, but it'll take time."

I knew when creating this thread that it wouldn't be something that would be happening right away and I'm fine with that. It gives us some time to work on characters and refine them.

I'm not opposed to having a smaller competition to give us some practice. KaK 7.5 or something like that (probably should rename it). But who would we get to judge and where would we host the character pages and would there be any prizes. Would MKO even allow it? These are just a few of the technical details that would need to be sorted out.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to find who is interested in doing a community run contest and go from there. Either way, an official contest should be coming down the pipeline at some point (hopefully before 2015) so that's reason enough to be happy.

Well, I have just saw this, and I would like to ask the same thing.

I used to host the Kreate a Kharacter back on my site a few years back, and it seems like nobody is interested anymore. I understand that only the mods here can host this for this site, so, when it DOES start, I am going to enter. 1 per person right?,,, I have like 30 kharacters, all pretty old, which I can select and modify to fit this contest(They are all huge, so I will have to trim it down a bit).

I have a current website(Mortal Kombat Info Highway) that I had since 2005, and it had successfully hosted 4 touranments and a best of the best(spanning the top 4 of those 4 tournaments contenders), but current tournament number 5 has been on a stand still for quite some time now, after getting about 20 entries(while I am looking for 32). So, I have pretty much gave up on that(nobody ever logs in these days on that site of mine).

But I am so glad that I found this thread. If it opens, I am definately going to be IN.

If I get a permission to open my very own tournament here, I can do that too, to entertain anybody whose interested, which works a bit different, since, there is no limit of the maximum characters he/she can enter(unless you enter more than 10 or something, you know, to be fair), and you enter by posting your kharacter on the post, NOT on the E-mail or PM. No prize or anything but it is ONLY for fun. I've been hosting these on my site, on IGN and now defunct Midway boards, so I have the basic format already saved, so I can start right away if I get the permission.

But otherwise, if someone PM me and let me know if the contest is up, I will be sure to enter one of my many kharacters here.


I just love these things, but the popularity is really down these days, and I even got laughed at trying to resurrect it on the IGN board, and what not. being blamed of trying to resurrect 6 year old thread....

id be in if there was another tourney. I enjoyed the last when I was in. already have a character made, but would tweak few thing for the comp if it returns.

If I am allowed host my version(without prize), I would love to, but I heard since it is only do-able by mods, so...

I have already posted my version few days ago, but since it doesn't even have any reply for it whatsoever still, I guess that means I am not allowed to host it here, and it could mean no-ones' interested.... Oh well...

I definitely would like to see another contest happen. Last year was my first and my character got pretty far (further than what I expected). However, this site really doesn't seem too interested in fan art/fiction anymore.

I sometimes post fan art every now and then, however, I'd rather work on original works more than just fandom stuff.

You have Razor's thread with his stuff that always has a few people interested.

Then you have some random submissions that hardly get any views/critiques/responses/etc.

And then you have those who do the fakes (which are at the moment, the most active on this forum.)

I don't know what the other participants from last year are like in having another contest since a few that were in either got themselves banned or just left with their own reasons. And since no one else has yet to respond, I'm just going to assume that they're not interested.

Which is a shame since there would be at least something else to do on this site other than reading through repetitive nonsense while we're in no news release mode.

I can't I believe I opened this thread more than half a year ago. Time flies when you're waiting for MKX (no, it really doesn't).

Anyway, I've been playing around with character designs and again and I thought I'd see if there was still interest in starting up a new Kreate a Kharacter kontest before MKX releases (or maybe a little bit afterwards). I've always enjoyed them and I hope there are still passionate users out there with plenty of creative juices just waiting to be spilled with a fatality... of design?

Let me know if you are still interested and I'll start bugging the mods again to see if there's any plans for this in the future.

id be cool with another Kontest. if you can get it moving along that be cool. more power to you.

even if it doesn't have prizes id be fine with it. it always bring fun and creativity to the front.
