Guys, I think we as a community need to have a serious talk once and for all about the fact that Cassie Cage does not have her parents' moves.

Yes, she has the nut punch. That's ONE.

Now here's the rest of her moves, at least the ones I can remember seeing her do:

- Shoot guns like Stryker (including an air version Stryker never had)

- Swing an extendable police baton (similar to Stryker's billyclub, but in an Uppercut arc as opposed to his trip and throw)

- She has an Air Shadow Kick or two, which behave nothing like Johnny's Shadow moves. They attack in different directions, like straight up instead of sliding forward or going diagonal.

- Can call down missiles from the sky.

- Sprays fire with an aerosol can and lighter. This may look similar to Sonya's Kiss, but is NOT the same.

I believe she has an MMA tackle and/or an air throw version of the same, and cartwheel...which are moves Sonya did in MK9, but none of those are things Sonya "owns" in the iconic sense, they're all generic.. "Sonya's moves" are the Pink Rings, Leg Grab, Square Wave/Arcing Air Kick, Diagonal Bike Kick, and Kiss-dust.

Did I miss anything here? Can we stop talking like Cassie, Sonya, and Johnny in the same game is redundant from a gameplay perspective?

Now, assuming that part is settled, let me say this about story: Cassie doesn't become an adult fighter until the "25 years later" part of the story.
The whole game does NOT take place in that era! WE HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN THIS!
There's a part that takes place right after MK9, a part that's "5 years later", a part that's "10 years later", et cetera. THESE are all parts where Johnny and Sonya would be around and/or able to fight and CASSIE WOULDN'T.

I really hope that Kano is a bit inspired by Hsu Hao(even though that red thing has been on him forever) only because this would be NRS's way of saying that some characters will never see the light of day again. Nothing wrong with characters getting second chances but fresh ideas are better.



Finally someone says it lol. Sucks though because people will still complain about Cassie being a combo clone. Also I don't believe i've seen her do a nut punch as a special move(she has it in a throw and the 2nd part of her xray) so she's quite original. Her 'kiss of fire' is also part of her x-ray animation so it's not even a special move either. As far as I can tell the closest move she has to resemble her parent would be her aerial leg grab which is also at the end of Sonya's MK9 xray(that move has a fancy name i'm sure someone knows the word.... vol_____???).

People seem to forget that even the vets can get new moves(Sonya's arc kick is pretty new) so having all 3 of them in wouldn't hurt gameplay wise at all.


Using this opportunity to transition back to Kano, there's always a possibility he could be killed off before Cassie's in the picture which could avoid her following in her mother's footsteps. Seriously though Sonya has taken too damn long to take this dude out...like girl come on he has one eye. Guess those combat heels weren't too useful.

To be honest.. for me it's redundant. People think it's easy to make three different characters. But in MKX we have the variations (9!! different playstyles) and i have my doubts that Cage, Blade and Cassie will feel different enough.

Of course Kano has fans. He is iconic in MK. Well, in MK9 he was the best Kano i have ever seen. His intro, his outro, his moves and his x-ray (one of the best x-rays in MK9) fits him so well. Except the two similar fatalities were bland... But i'm looking Forward to Kano in MKX. One real badass. Maybe the last one we have.


And i have to disappoint you guys. The gamepro Magazin is at 06.08 in stores, not today :( so i have to wait two more days to buy one. Patience is the key :D

Kano should be all new-inventions on his body, replacing arms and whatever with mechanics and cruel inventions. This is just a human, he looks worse than in MK9 this far (but the pictures are vague at best)


I really hope Kano doesn't mean that Sonya Bland will be in the game as well, because that would be horrid.

Also, Kano's fatalities should be about technology, with Kotal Kahn already ripping hearts out, there is no way they waste another fatality with putting hearts out and shoving them down throats, been there done that.

Do I want to see either of them when we have Cassie? Yes, because Cassie plays nothing like her parents. She only has ONE move that is the same from her parents, the nut punch. Everything else is completely different and doesn't play anything like either of her parents. Only her variations are similar in the personality aspect since you have her acting all sassy like her father, and all toughened like her mother.

That's it. Sonya and Johnny WILL HAVE THEIR OWN MOVESET and THEIR OWN VARIATION to play nothing like her.

And if they were chosen to be characters in this game, they don't take up spots over them, because they were chosen already to be in this game over them.

I hate when people think characters take spots over other characters who either "deserve it more" or it's because their favorites are on the line of not making the cut.

The roster is made up before anything, so there isn't any "spot stealing." My god, I haven't used that phrase since the third grade.



And what about fans of Kano? Don't they have a saying in this? If there was no announcement of his, his name would be included in that list of characters you spilled out. And if one of them were announced instead of Kano, shouldn't the fans be pissed off slightly that one of them "took their spot?"

See, it works in both ways too. It doesn't piss me off that Kano is in the game, even if he's not a character I'd immediately would think would be in the game.

A demigod like Rain, Daegon or Taven is waaaaay cooler than a mercenary who always gets his ass kicked by a girl. Is this a serious opinion? Demigods are in the top of the MK food chain, right up there with Raiden, Liu Kang, Shao Kahn, Ermac or the sorcerers. They would make great additions.

People! Expect many awesome fatalities from Sonya!

Really, with Cage, Sonya and Cassie being in, I see a lot of non-magical fatalities being added in.

Idea for Sonya Bland fatality: She summons the spirit of her father, this spirit will turn the victim insane and they do a Hari Kiri on themselves, Bland gets a wire and does a handstand over the corpse to do a decapitation on them.

But I don't make assumptions and conclusions about Kano's reveal, I love Kano.

I'm hating on the other info that we got from the German Magazine, you know the info about Liu, Cage and Sonya being in, and the ENTIRE story revolving around Sonya and Cage.

And 4 topics against like over 10.000 is nothing. Get over it. This wasn't even true hate, just a joke about her MK9 fatalities and ending.

My favourite part of Kano from Mortal Kombat 9 was when he wins the first round and then he spits on the opponant. For me that had more personality then some characters put together. It perfectly sums up Kano. A fighter without honour or respect that humiliates his opponants.

I never hated Smoke, just Robot-Smoke.

It was more like: I didn't want robot-smoke + human smoke in one game.

The hating was on Noob Saibot, which I corrected once I've saw the awesome new fatalities/abilities I always wanted him to have, trust me, this will never work for Sonya Bland, especially since her look-alike daughter is in, this feels like Smash Bros, with 10.000 clones characters that look pretty much the same. Fox/Wolf situation.

And this was a joke really, the other topics I used for the hate, this was nothing like that.

Finally saw the Kano pics. Gotta say I like his design. Simple yet badass. I'm actually excited to see his gameplay because he looks to be the first dedicated grappler.

I think my feeling of being underwhelmed comes from the fact that the the most recently confirmed characters are the originals. We've seen them in plenty of MK games, so it doesn't really feel as 'next generation of MK' as we had hoped.

However, if you think about it, we now have 7 returnees from MK9 and 4 new characters. That's 11 characters out of a cast of 30. We've already heard this game will have more new characters than any other MK game, which means we should have around 12 new characters, of which we know four. Presuming we get some characters from the 3d era (not a lot, only the ones NRS like), that means it's entirely reasonable to have a good chunk of MK9 returnees.

So, 12 MK9 returnees
6 MK4-MKD returnees
12 new characters

I don't think anyone could complain about that? Sure, I'd prefer to see Reptile, Smoke and Ermac confirmed before Liu, Johnny and Sonya and I'd probably have traded Kano for a new character, but it doesn't work like that. There's a core cast in MK, and the majority of those will always stick around.

I can understand people not being hype for the recent reveals but I think you have to remember that we now have 7 MK9 returnees. Add in Quan Chi who's guaranteed, we have 8 MK9 returnees, which is the guts of that section of the roster.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you look at it logically, this was guaranteed. The only thing to be disappointed by is the characters (and arguably the method by which they have been) revealed so far: an MK4-MKD character redesign would have been amazing and another new character would be so good. But NRS have never been great at the pre-released stuff and we're guaranteed a good chunk of juicy new/redesigned characters within a month and a half I would say.

I can understand people not wanting the originals but that's life. MKX isn't made to your personal specifications, its the game NRS want to make. And it looks pretty awesome. Every fighting game has some disputes as to its roster: I'd rather pretend Sheeva didn't exist and write her out of the original storyline for a new character. I desperately wanted Fujin in MK9. That's life

Well I was going to do Grumpy Cat... but it's been overdone.

I will admit, Kano is not one for me to think he was gonna make the cut. I wouldn't say this is a terrible choice, but you know, at least they got his reveal out this early.

I don't think having to announce him later on would make more of a difference because, it's not that he doesn't have fans, but how many (and raise your hands) would have really thought he was going to make the cut had this magazine not have shown anything? Even after meeting Rich Divizio himself (he's a great guy), I still wasn't considering Kano be in this game.

I think the problem is how many characters got listed in that magazine. I mean to be honest, that's a lot of characters to just blurt out and say they have a good chance to be in this game. But what bothers me is that some are thinking that because of these characters, there goes "my hope" for so-and-so. Which shouldn't be the case. There's a lot of characters in this game, it's just gonna take some time to get them all revealed.

I mean, the game is coming out in 2015, there's still a lot of time for more reveals, so I'm not gonna jump to conclusions that so-and-so isn't in because someone else is in.

But I might jump to conclusions if Shao Kahn is around.
