The wait is almost over! Mortal Kombat X will reveal who's next in downloadable content in mere days! It's part of an exclusive reveal to be shown during The Game Awards 2015 live from Los Angeles!

MKX Creative Director Ed Boon revealed he'll be live in attendance for the exclusive reveal in a fresh tweet. It comes more than three months since the first teaser for new DLC, announced for a 2016 release.

Still no official word on what to expect, but Boon has already given various character skins the check of approval, and all signs point to The Pit as a returning DLC arena [read more].

Update: The Game Awards released the above trailer hyping the Mortal Kombat X announcement. It contains no new footage or indication of who or what will be revealed.

Also announced for live attendance are: Shaquille O'Neal and Kiefer Sutherland -- the latter misreported by IGN to have completed worked on Mortal Kombat in 2014 [full story]. It's the first time we're aware of Sutherland and Boon being in the same place since the snafu. If they decide to throwdown, there'll be live music by CHVRCHES and Deadmau5.

The Game Awards take place this Thursday, December 3rd streaming live at 9:00PM Eastern Time (6:00PM Pacific Time)! Mortal Kombat X is nominated for Best Fighting Game, going up against: Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, Rise of Incarnates & Rising Thunder. It was overlooked in the "Best Family Game" category.
