BASIC SETUP/RULES

- There will be separate entities for each system, one for PS3 and one for 360.
- There will be both tournaments (run monthly) and a multi-division league (seasonally).
- PS3: Kratos is banned from all tournaments and leagues.
- Do NOT use Kombat Kodes during your fights.
- All matches will have a format of best 2 out of 3 sets. Each set is best 4 out of 7 games. To further clarify, you must win four games (out of seven) to win a set, and then two sets to win your match.
- The commissioners are Casselman/SubMan799 (PS3) and J-spit/jack4813 (X360).
- Winners of divisions and tournaments will receive userbars (and possibly other prizes) for their efforts.

SCHEDULING YOUR MATCHES

- You are allowed to schedule matches freely in league play. For leagues, we ask that you play 1-2 matches per week, but don’t get too far ahead in terms of the schedule; we don’t want one division to be waiting for too long while other divisions finish up.
- For tournaments, we will post time slots for matches. You must get in touch with your opponent, pick a time slot, and then let us know so that we can schedule you. Time slots will be given on a first come first serve basis.
- When you schedule your matches with your opponents, please inform either myself or your commissioner. We ask this of you because it will help us know when to expect to have the results reported as well as allow us to spectate the match if we are available.

TOURNAMENTS

- Tournament brackets will be hosted on CHALLONGE!
- Tournaments will be run monthly starting on May 1st.
- Each tournament will have a specific format to it. There will be regular tournaments (notated here as Open tournaments) and others with specific rules. The yearly schedule is as follows:

January - Open
February - Ladies' Night (only female characters allowed)
March - Open
April - Tag Hat (characters randomly selected, lowered entry cap)
May - Open
June - Draft (characters will be drafted by entrants; lowered entry cap)
July - Open
August - Hat (characters are randomly selected; lowered entry cap)
September - Open
October - Tag Open
November - Open
December - Bromance (only male characters allowed)

- All of the above tournament formats are subject to change without prior notice. In hat and draft tournaments, you must use the character you are given/have selected for the duration of the tournament. In all other formats, you are allowed to switch characters freely. Also, unless otherwise noted, all formats will have an entry cap of 64 participants.
- All tournaments will be double elimination. This is so that users don't get discouraged if they lose their round one match, because they're technically not eliminated yet.
- There is a chance that more formats will be added if some of the Test Your Luck modifiers are individually selectable. Any new formats will be announced if they occur.

LEAGUES

- League play will start on July 1st with the summer session. This is to allow for enough time for us to construct some kind of ladder (based on tournament finishes) so that we can sort the community into divisions for competitive balance (fall session starts 10/1/11, winter starts 1/1/12, and spring starts 4/1/12).
- We ask that you do not sign up for league play unless you can make the commitment. No-showing in a tournament doesn’t harm the competitive integrity too drastically, but it causes a huge detriment to your division's balance if you fail to show up repeatedly.
- Eight players per division will take part in a double round-robin, for a total of a 14 game season.
- At the end of each session, there will be promotion playoffs. Example - the players who finished 7th and 8th in Division 1 and the players who finished 1st and 2nd in Division 2 will have a playoff. The format for this will be a single round-robin held on a day when all four players can attend. The two best players from these round robins will be promoted to the higher of the two divisions involved (in this example, D1) and the other two will drop to the lower division involved (D2, in this case).
- Any user who signs up once the summer session has begun will be placed in the lowest division for the fall session, and so forth going forward. The idea is to have competitive balance across all divisions.
- Whoever finishes first in Division 1 will be declared the Fight Klub Champion for that session.

COMMISSIONERS

- The purpose of commissioners is to help me organize the leagues and tournaments, as well as settle any disputes between participants.
- Commissioners may request to spectate matches (if allowable in the game) both to ensure attendance and fair play.
- Commissioners may also organize events in addition to the existing leagues and tournaments, at their discretion. Any events that they choose to run will be announced by them or by me.

REPORTING RESULTS/DISPUTES

- Results should be reported to both your respective commissioner and myself, that way they can be reflected on the tournament brackets/league standings quickly. Use the PM system for this, please.
- Any kind of infinites are banned.
- As far as the enforcing of rules is concerned, we will use the honor system. Not everyone has video capture equipment and the commissioners and myself will not be able to spectate every match, so please do your best to police yourselves. If you do have picture or video evidence to support a dispute that you may have, we will be happy to view it.
- Disconnects will be handled on a case by case basis. As a general rule, pick up exactly where you left off if a disconnect occurs and you are able to reconnect with your opponent. Example: if you’re in the first set and the games score is 3-2, you re-start play as if the score is still 3-2. If it appears obvious that your opponent pulled, follow the rule below for no-shows. Multiple disconnects in this fashion will result in forfeits.
- If your opponent is a no-show, allow 15 minutes. If no contact is made before then, the match is ruled a forfeit.
- Multiple forfeits as a result of no-showing or disconnects will earn you skulls, suspensions, and, if necessary, a ban from participation in future tournaments. If you sign up for this, you must be willing to commit.

HOW TO SIGN UP

Step 1 - There will be a stickied sign-up thread in the Matchmaking Forum for each system, so simply post your gamertag in the system thread that you want to sign up for. You are allowed to sign up for both systems if you own both platforms and have a copy of the game for each.

Step 2 - Friend request MKOFightKlub on whichever system you choose to play for, or both. You are not officially signed up until your request is accepted by the MKOFightKlub account.

Step 3 - Being one of the first 64 people to sign up on your system between now and April 27th guarantees you entry to the first MKO Fight Klub Tournament, which begins on Sunday, May 1st. Registration for this tournament will close at 11:59 PM (Eastern time) on April 27th. For subsequent tournaments, new threads will be made.

I've noticed that Kratos seems to be banned from some tournaments. Is there a specific reason fo this? Thanks for any clarification

1: May's tournament is the first 63 people to enter. So, unless there are special conditions, then yes.

2: X360 comm speaking.

3: You should be able to make it no matter what, what do you mean?

MK is the only game I geek out on, so I'm entirely new to the tournament concept... I'm admittedly having some trouble grasping things like the league play, but I'll keep re-reading. Hopefully I'll be 100% on the process soon.

1- Yes.
2- It's pricey, but the Hauppauge HD PVR is easily your best bet. The Dazzle isn't bad either, depending on your setup.
3- Not being able to make dates is less of an issue in leagues than tournaments, just plan ahead for it... I'm going to be away for a week in July so whoever I get matched up with should be on the lookout. As for tournaments, try to get yours in on the first day available so that you can possibly get ahead a bit... try to let me know of any issues in advance, though.

So we've finalized that Kratos cannot be played. What about the DLC characters?

Will there be a period of time where these characters are banned or can they be used immediately upon release?

Kratos is banned because he in all likelihood will be broken and I want the PS3 and X360 to have the same playing field.

I'm excited. my question is:

How will we be contacted for match-ups? Is the MKO Fight Club account going to message us? Or will we be messaged here for our info? As for time, I'm pretty flexible so that shouldn't be an issue for me. Actually...I remember seeing there will be tournament brackets...will that have our respective match-ups listed there?

Just a suggestion. I think there should be at least one more tag open. I heard it's really fun, and I think there will be a lot of people training their asses off with tag team.

Also, will there ever be team battle tournaments?
