The Pro-Circuit Summer Championship hits Raleigh for a Major League Gaming meltdown!

Raleigh, North Carolina sizzles this weekend as Major League Gaming throws down the Pro Circuit gauntlet to the greatest fighters of the summer season!

The MLG Summer Championship is up for grabs -- along with a tidy prize purse totalling $16,700 -- for the eight Mortal Kombat players who can go the distance! It all kicks off 11:00 AM today (August 25, 2012), with the title to be decided in the evening of August 26 when only the fit have survived!

A rogues gallery of the biggest names in the Mortal Kombat Pro-Circuit tournament scene will be joined by the unwashed title hopefuls willing to face the heat in Raleigh!

Perfect Legend returns to MLG after being forced to pull out of the invitational Summer Fighter Arena special. He returns to a kingdom ruled by Pig of the Hut -- the winner of the Arena special whose trajectory on the scene has propelled him into a comfortable top five spot according to the NFGR system!

Pig of the Hut's rise to summer glory has included third place at the July 2012 Evo Championships, as well as an Evo Series Midwest Championship title victory. What he's missing is the scalp of the two-time Evo World Champion, Perfect Legend -- a rivalry that will hope to play out as they fight for the Summer Championship prize!

Not to be outdone -- CDjr returns as a member of Team DMG, leaving behind his success with vVv Gaming, who have since turned their back on the fighting genre all together. The Evo Runner-up will no doubt be looking to shake his team switch dramas off, eyeing off an Evo 2012 rematch just as much as Pig of the Hut, if not more!

REO, Maxter, Crazy Dominican and Galloping Ghost Arcade's Osu16Bit will also headline in the Summer Championship field!

I saw some matches from rounds 3 and 4 by accidentally running into a live rebroadcast. Highlights:

Round 3:

Perfect Legend def. rev0lver 3-2 (I think rev was up 2-1, I was really surprised with how well rev did.)

Round 4:

Maxter def. J360 3-0 (Maxter playing as Kitana?! W00T?! Sick 55% Kitty corner combo! Massive usage of d3 and nice usage of ass to escape nets and bombs.)

Pig of the Hut def. m2dave 3-1 (Quite a funny match, amazing how much time they spent far away from each other. I can't remember when was the last time I saw such a zoning heavy match. Probably the Kitana mirror between you, 16Bit, and Mr. Mileena. Dave seemed to be struggling with inputs/controller though.)

GGA 16bit def. KN Crazy Dominican 3-1 (Oooh! I wasn't expecting this one. I honestly thought he was going to win again since he knows Kitana so well and I wasn't sure how much Skarlet MU experience you have. Skarlet's armored dash is insane, it covers so much ground. Congrats on getting the revenge! I think it's now safe to say that you're the no.1 Kitana player. He didn't even try with Kitana, I think even he knows your Kitana surpassed his. This was also the last match I saw.)

They put the archived videos up, I'll check them out by the end of this week. I'm not fully back yet, I'm at my parents house, on my brother's laptop so my internet access is limited. I'm curious to see if Maxter played more matches using Kitana and I see you and CD Jr. had the closest battle so far.

Agreed. I missed the last MLG Arena, but I remember that during the one before it, Crazy Dominican had put down Ktiana. Looks like that was a permanent decision (or at the very least, he locked Kitana away for select MUs). I really wanted to see a mirror, but 16-Bit's recent performances have been incredibly strong, and I don't think there's any question over who has the best Kitana now. I can't say for sure what CD's thinking was, but he probably knew going in that 16-Bit is on a new plateau. Also, I do feel Skarlet is higher up the tier list than Kitana (probably top 7). The pick didn't pay off, but it was a sound strategy.

On a side note, watching Kabal matches isn't even fun anymore. It's tiresome, frustrating, and if Kabal isn't losing, the match isn't hype (for me). All NRS needs to do is take away his armor. That's it. The game would be so much better. I get that there's logistical obstacles with creating another patch, but... ugh.

Anyhoo, I finally got my EVO match vids from my friend's camera. I should have those posted soon.

LOL. Lately I've been even more frustrated with Kenshi, mo-fo keeps eliminating Kitana from every tourney.

Back to the LionHeart vs Dizzy match, or more precisely Sub-Zero vs Cage match-up. What I like to do occasionally in this match, to build meter when playing as Cage, are naked nut-punches while Subby is firing projectiles behind the clone. The animation will lower you enough to avoid the projectile. You just have to be careful and not do it constantly or you might get caught by the ice beam. This match-up is also one of the most exciting match-ups for me to watch, it's insane how much even the slightest life lead means.

Also, watching CD Jr. play as Kung Lao (and even Kabal) just feels weird. I also miss DetroitBalln's Shang Tsung. I guess I miss those times when most of the players were associated with certain characters.

I am not sure who's worse for me(and Kitty lol). Kabal or Kenshi. Kenshi is a much harder MU but it's just been Pig eliminating me. With Kabal I play him all the time. Like 8 top guys have a good Kabal now. I've been able to beat REO and Cat but have lost to Detroit, Carl and CD Jr. At MLG Raleigh I had to fight 3 of them in a row. It's like once I hit top 16 it's all very tough matches for poor Kitana.
