Confirmed Ready Player One MK Cameos
Goro, Sub-Zero and more spotted in new Spielberg film.

Mortal Kombat is still awaiting a feature film return to theatres, but after speculating late last year, we now know the release of Ready Player One has brought several of its iconic characters back to the big screen!

Goro features most prominently [pictured above] when one of the main characters adopts his guise within the film's virtual reality of the OASIS.

As 66% of MK Online users thought after seeing the trailer, Kitana does indeed make an appearance in the film. As do Sub-Zero and Cassie Cage, alongside a cavalcade of video game and pop culture icons.

Ready Player One has proved divisive with audiences, criticized and lauded for its use of pop culture references en masse. Die hard Mortal Kombat fans can at least look forward to spotting cameos of authentic character designs right out of Mortal Kombat X.

Not a hoax! Not a dream! Not an imaginary story! Paul W. Anderson's martial arts opus will be bellowing "MORTAL KOMBAT!" into living rooms across America starting April 1st!

Still considered by many to be among the best video game movie adaptations; 1995's Mortal Kombat tells the story of Liu Kang (Robin Shou), Sonya Blade (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras), and Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) as they travel to Shang Tsung's island to contest a martial arts tournament that will decide the fate of the world!

Remembered for its techno soundtrack, unique visual aesthetic, fight choreography, and charismatic performances, the film has always been fondly regarded by die hard fans, and neophytes alike. It spawned a less successful 1997 sequel (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation), as well as an expanded shared universe in TV's live-action Mortal Kombat: Conquest, animated Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, and online in the serial webseries Federation of Martial Arts!
