MovieWeb Interviews Kevin Tancharoen!

As April approaches, the debut of the long-awaited Mortal Kombat digital series draws ever nearer. Director Kevin Tancharoen debuted the original Mortal Kombat Rebirth project back in June, and since that time Warner Brothers took an official interest in the short film, wishing to develop a series with the cast and crew. Recently, the director sat down with MovieWeb to answer a few questions regarding how the series came to be, specifics on a few of the episodes and an expected release date of the first episode.

New Action Photo Teaser from Live-Action Director!

Humorist Jack Handey once said of the pugilistic arts, "To me, boxing is like a ballet - except there's no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other." It probably isn't all that surprising, then, that Warner Brothers would tap Kevin Tancharoen to direct their live-action reinvention of the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Until recently, Tancharoen was best known for his work in the dance world, having choreographed acts as significant as Madonna and Britney Spears. He co-created the MTV reality series, DanceLife, before directing the 2009 remake of musical classic, Fame. These might not sound like the credentials of an MK director, but if his well known proof of concept proved nothing else, he is ready to inject the series with the martial arts choreography it deserves.
