I'm not looking forward to any adaptation of Mortal Kombat that tries to emulate Saw.

It's very clear Michael Jai White means there aren't a lot of fantasy elements to Jax and Sonya's story, which is true, and that it will follow a more realistic approach then Scorpion's for example. I don't know where this Saw stuff is coming from.

This isn't the same as MK rebirth. The fantasy elements the series is known for WILL be in, just not as much in the Sonya/Jax/Kano episode(s). Which makes sense.

Well WB definitely seems to know why it don't work for MK.

I don't know if I liked the phrase the producer used but, he's right about there not being as much of a fantasy element between Sonya, Jax, and Kano. I think they have a firm grasp on that part.

Thinking back to the MK1 movie, whenever Sonya and Kano were seen (and Jax's little cameo at the beginning), they really just kind of expressed disdain for each other. That is...until of course, Sonya kills Kano.

I think what my problem is mainly, is i don't like them being refereed to as "police". They're Special Forces officers actively seeking out the capture of a world renowned criminal and terrorist organization...that is not mere police. It would be more proper to express it as a military-esk story. Or militarized operation and Kano is the ever elusive bad guy (alot like the USA vs Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban or Alkaida, actually).

They should be traveling...less the suits ties, interrogation rooms, and all the questionings. There should be inspirations garnered from shit like all the Guantanamo Bay noise for example.

What is this "police"...shit? I mean, don't get me wrong, I understand that there's an element of the military that is very much so "police". But Sonya and Jax are active, on duty leaders inside the organization. They'd be out in the field... with the gear and all that on. They won't circumvent or even occupy much of an office-space....paperwork and all that. They're more like "the worlds SWAT team."...etc.

I'm excited for it, I'm just confused a little bit now.

I'd LIKE to believe that "police story" remark is a term the producer uses in place of saying crime-drama but that doesn't seem likely at the moment.

Why have people ruled out the the possibility that they maybe detectives again? I understand what the press release said, but press releases really don't mean shit. Hell Jax is even in the same outfit he wore in the Rebirth short.

They could be detectives again, for the sake of the series, but that wouldn't effect much, and if they find out about outworld ever, then they could still form the O.I.A.



It's gonna be more like the games. At this point it would be stupid to say otherwise.

As much as I doubt they'd do this....It would be cool if when a feature film comes around they get promoted from the police department to the Special Forces the way people get promoted to SWAT.

With that said....My problem with the cop thing is that it weakens the characters in a way because it's a downgrade. I'm sure everything else will be closer to canon but I wonder why did they refer to them as Major and Lieutenant to throw us off like that?
