Raw Mortal Kombat X Webseries Footage Released

In late 2014 Warner Brothers announced production of a tie-in webseries for then-upcoming video game sequel Mortal Kombat X. It was to be the follow-up to live-action series Mortal Kombat: Legacy II, but as most fans will know -- it was never released. Cinematographer Nathan Haugaard has lifted the lid on the ill fated show, releasing unprocessed video to the internet! Watch:

Van Dien Brings Johnny Cage to Life in New Set Photo

Live-Action Webseries Scheduled for Release Early 2016

It was first announced late in 2014, and confirmed completed this past August. Now, according to director Garrett Warren, the third Mortal Kombat live-action webseries finally has a release schedule for early 2016!

Speaking to a fan on Twitter, Garrett said, "It is scheduled to be released early next year." Adding in reply to another fan, "I have been told that it will be released early next year."

Given the bumpy ride to completion the third series has appeared to have, it's understandable that this isn't the most convincing of confirmations. Two previous series, directed by Kevin Tancharoen, were noted for their low budget, and fast shooting to release schedule.

An early 2016 release positions the series -- rumoured to be called Mortal Kombat: Generations -- somewhere opposite downloadable content extras released as Kombat Pack 2. The pack introduces Bo' Rai Cho to the Mortal Kombat X playable roster: a character believed to have a prominent role in episodes starring Lewis Tan as Kung Jin [read more].

It has begun! Mortal Kombat Webseries Begins Production

The next chapter in the live-action legacy of Mortal Kombat is officially under way! New webseries director Garrett Warren had the support of out-going director Kevin Tancharoen on day one, sharing a snapshot with confirmed return Casper Van Dien:

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Nominated for Streamy Awards

When compared to its revolutionary predecessor; Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season II came and went relatively quickly. That hasn't prevented the pioneering Warner Bros. online series receiving acknowledgment, with multiple Streamy Award nominations announced today.

Mortal Kombat is nominated across several genre and technical categories, including awards for: Drama, Directing and Visual and Special Effects. Star Brian Tee has been singled out for his role as an uncharacteristically conflicted incarnation of Liu Kang.

The 4th Annual Streamy Awards will be announced online on September 4th, with a live ceremony to follow September 7th. Sixteen of the top awards will be presented during the live event, sponsored by Coca-Cola.
