Shang Tsung was born on Earth, but defected to Outworld and somehow got his affiliation changed so that, whenever he wins a tournament, it counts as a win for Outworld instead of Earth (read his bio in the official MK strategy guides).

Shinnok was originally an Elder God of Earth, until he was banished, which would make him from heaven.

Quan Chi, I believe, was either from earth siding with Shinnok (hence why he's a sorcerer and not a demon or Oni), or was born in the Netherealm as a member of the Brothers of the Shadow.

Kuatan, I believe, is the name of the Shokan realm, since there's a palace named after it, like the Edenian Palace Queen Sindel and Kitana live in, and Prince Goro took it over when he assumed the throne over his people.

The Centaur Race either came from Kuatan, Edenia, or Outworld, since it's made very clear that the Centaurs and the Shokan were mortal enemies before Goro signed the peace treaty.

And, finally, Scorpion was born on Earth, only appearing in the Netherealm when Sub-Zero killed him before the first MK game.

Outworld is not a planet, rather it is a collection of planets that have been conquered by Shao Kahn. outworld is Edinia, Zaterra, was the vampire realm, was a part of Earth during Mortal Kombat 3, Kuatan (which links to the netherealm), and the realm of centaurs, along with whatever else realms there are. The planets, know as outworld, are connected be interplanetary linkage crystals. The same crystal that Cyrax found for Nitara. When the crystal gets destroyed the planet is not a part of outworld anymore. As of now, Edinia is not a part of outorld, Earth and the Vampire realm. So the outworld ("unity" of different planets) have decreased, thus making Shao Kahn "weak" in power, due to the decreasing control of worlds.

1) Shinnok wasn't the elder of earth, he just an elder god who wanted to rule the universe, and Earth was his key. The other elders appointed the guardian of earth - Raiden, and he battled and defeated the corrupt elder. Shinnok entered earth with the one amulet, but Raiden stopped him again and banished Shinnok to the Netherealm.

2) Kuatan isn't really a the name of Shokan. It's just a place inside Shokan. MK1 calls it the "fourth astral plane of shokan" or something.

Is there anywhere that actually says they are from "planets" because I always thought it was just dimensions, and they were all occupying the same space but in different times persay.

They aren't specific Elder gods over a certain element, just a certain dimension. Shinnok was an Elder God over Earth and, therefore, would be called and Elder God of Earth.

As for Kuatan, I've never heard of the palace being a "fourth astral plane of shokan". Since the Shokan are living creatures of flesh and bone and not gods, it's highly doubtful that the Kuatan Palace would be considered a 'fourth astral plane' for the Shokan, especially since Goro, as Prince of the Shokan, took his rightful place in the throne of the palace between MK4 and MK:DA.

In the MK1 instruction booklet ,in Goro's bio it says his birthplace is Kuatan the fourth astral plane of the Shokan. The Kuatan palace is in Kuatan.
Secondly:There aren't any "Planets" in MK ,They are alternate dimensions.2 or more places in the exact same place but out of phase with each other.

I think of it as a different planet (although a portal is like a shortcut so you don't have to go by spaceship).

Although there's no really 100% official explanation for it, in the Officiall MK Album they said Goro was born on 'a distant planet' (either referring to Shokan/Kuatan/Outworld).

BTW, Chameleon has no story and certainly there's no evidence to suggest he's a Zaterrian.

Perhaps most of these realms are planets within one or a few alternate dimensions, but I don't think any of them are made up planets existing in "our" space time continuum.

I agree with you, cus if they were planets it wouldn't make any sense, cus they wouldn't need to open portals to overthrow Earth. They could open portals to cross the univese, but then that wouldn't automaticaly transform our planet into their's.

Yeah, if they were alternate dimensions that would make more sense. That's why they have magic etc in Outworld, and Earth has technology and alternate practicalities. That's why the portals have to be opened, to occupy the rival realm. I suppose Earthrealm would be our universe, and the Heavan's watch over all realms.

I was going to use Star Trek as an example, in an alternate universe, aliens utilize an Ophidian, or a snake, that has the ability to manipulate the space time continuum, jumping from their dimension, and planet, to late 19th century earth, where they kill people and use their neural energy to survive.

The humans on the Enterprise can do something similar, but it's like you said, practical, they have a device that creates a subspace field, and then another device that alters the phase variance within the field, allowing them to be partially inside a small portion of their space time continuum, but holding the physical properties there, allowing them to step through their gateway to earth.
