It's the basic idea of Mortal Kombat; same bosses, same main storyline, same high/low punch/kick setup, but with different (but sometimes similar, meshed or borrowed) arenas, characters, bios, fatalities and moves. Yes, I am bored (and sad:))
Here's my idea of an alternate MK1 (this gets long!).
First, the characters...
Hanzo Hasashi:
Picture:
A black clad ninja with golden dragon symbols on his uniform. Chains hang from his waist and his steel mask is studded with small spikes.
Bio:
When Shang Tsung sent an invitation to the chinese Lin Kuei assassin clan requesting their presence at the tournament, Hanzo, a japanese ninja and their most brutal assassin was chosen to represent the clan. However, the Lin Kuei seem to have ulterior motives for entering the tournament...
Ending:
In his defeat of Shang Tsung, Hanzo showed no mercy. He brutally killed the sorceror and accomplished the first part of his mission.
Shang Tsung's island fortress housed many ancient secrets and sorcerous knowledge that would enable the Lin Kuei to exert total dominance. It was Hanzo's job to destroy the sorceror and claim the ancient secrets for the Lin Kuei.
Loyal until it suited him, Hanzo ordered Shang Tsung's leaderless army to pledge themselves to him. Gaining knowledge and power, he set about exterminating his former clan. They will pay dearly for admitting a foreigner.
Special Moves:
Chain of Misery - An iron chain with a large spiked harpoon is thrown at the enemy and embedded in them. Hanzo jerks the opponent towards him with a cry of either; "Come 'ere!" or "Get Over Here." The opponent is then stunned for a free hit.
Star Shower - Faster than the spear attack but without the stun effect, Hanzo hurls a volley of eight throwing stars at the opponent. A bloody move. Aimable during the volley.
Teleport Slide - Hanzo teleports off one side of the screen leaving a ghostly after-image. Reappearing on the other side, he slides into the opponent in a low, crouch stance with his foot outstreched.
Close Launcher - Hanzo hits in an uppercut motion, using his iron harpoon. The victim of the attack is sent flying straight upwards. Hanzo grabs them out of the air using his harpoon-chain attack. He pulls them down, shouting "Get Down Here!". He then high kicks them back into the air, ending the close-hit move.
Throw - Hanzo grabs his opponent, teleports through them, before throwing them from over his shoulders.
FATALITY:
Hanzo hurls many throwing stars at a rapid pace, all of which stick into the opponent, turning them into a bloody pin cushion. After a brief pause, Hanzo hurls a final three stars together, embedding them deeply into the opponent's skull. The corpse falls backwards to the ground. Hanzo goes into his victory pose.
Victory Pose - Facing the screen, fist is cupped into open palm, and head is lowered.
Shòu Xìng:
Picture:
A bare chested, stocky chinese fighter wearing black pants with a red belt.
His expanse of hair is supported by a red bandana.
Bio:
A ruthless fighter from middle china, he has a deep lust for violence.
He is proficient in many martial arts and practices his own style - Shèng Lì Quán - or Victory Fist.
Entering the tournament to yet again prove himself, he will be a savage opponent.
Ending:
A man who would have no superior, Shòu Xìng defeated and banished his first master at the age of eighteen. Travelling the lands, and becoming an infamous fighter, he jumped at the chance to showcase his power in the island tournament.
Shòu Xìng brutalized Shang Tsung after wrestling the title from Goro. He took everything that was Shang's and turned it to his own ends. He starts by using his influence to search for his former master, hoping to correct the mistake of allowing him to live.
Special Moves:
Victory Fist - A sliding fire punch that hits mid and throws the opponent to a full screens distance.
Brutal Comet - A mid hitting fireball that continues to push the opponent on impact for a short distance.
Demon Pillar - Shòu Xìng turns to the screen and uses his Fa Jing to burst a pillar of fire from his upper body, lasting for a short time. An anti-air attack.
Close Launcher - A forwards, flaming scizzor kick that launches the opponent.
Throw - A very direct, pick up and hurl over.
FATALITY:
Shòu Xìng gives the enemy a sharp snap kick to the jaw, flooring them.
He then dances back, before a run and jump on the opponent's chest.
The opponent's legs kick with the impact, they cough up blood, and the loud noise shakes the screen.
After flailing helpless for a brief moment, they are finished by a quick twist of the legs on the chest, creating a short snapping noise, and silencing them.
Victory Pose - A stomp into a horse stance with a brief flash of fire.
Qiū Yè (Cho Ye):
Picture:
A chinese girl with braided hair clad in a brown disciples tunic and pants.
Bio:
As an orphan, Qiū Yè (Cho Yeh) was found in a casket left on Mount Wudang during a thunderstorm.
She was brought up in the temple on the mountain, there she became a disciple and a preserver of the earth.
Ending:
When Shang Tsung issued the challenge of a new Mortal Kombat to Wudang, few could have suspected that it was Qiū Yè, who would be chosen by the grand master - he saw something in her that no others did.
Chosen to fight and defend earth in Mortal Kombat, she did not waver from her destiny.
She defeated the champion, Goro, and stopped Tsung from gaining his tenth straight victory over Earthrealm. To fall at the last hurdle, this was to much for Shang Tsung, who would be punished with death by his hidden overlord - he entered the fighting arena himself and challenged Qiū Yè.
The battle was fierce and long, and in the end evil fell. Tsung's sorcery was undone, but the victory was bitter-sweet; Qiū Yè died shortly after from the wounds she suffered in the battle. She will always be remembered.
Special Moves:
Butterfly Kick - A butterfly kick executed from a crouching spring.
Hidden force - Qiū brings her hands in and then forces them outwards, using her Fa Jing to send pressure waves through the air at her opponent. An invisible mid-range, knockdown projectile.
Square Wave Punch - Familiar?
Close Launcher - A knee-elbow punch.
Throw - A kickflip/back sacrifice.
FATALITY:
Qiū Yè lets lose a flurry of kicks that force the opponent back. A final kick snaps the neck.
Victory Stance - Think Xiaoyu's move or Ashrah's victory kata.
There will more soon.
Any ideas?
