To me, the SNES music just has a cooler feel to it. The arcade music is great to it just sounds better on the SNES to me.
(I love the The Tower and Kahns Arena music)

I disagree, but it's totally a matter of opinion of course.

I can think of a few games where I feel like the home version has better music than the arcade though, so I can see where you're coming from. The Commodore Amiga had a lot of arcade conversions on it, and many of them had far superior sound over their arcade counterparts IMO. The NewZealand Story, Arkanoid, and Bubble Bobble are a few that come to mind.

Yes, one of the few memories I have of my MK1 Amiga is the great quality sounds and music. Especially the character select theme, the Amiga version of that tune IS Mortal Kombat for me.

Amiga was the best. Stupid Commodore and their marketting incompitance.

The Character Select Theme from MK1 is still my favorite MK music out of all of them. I loved it for SNES. I think the arcade is better. I'll have to get an Amiga emulater running and listen to the Amiga version.

While the Genesis music was really low quality, I really liked that they kinda "remixed" the music to make it sound better on the Genesis. They didn't do a straight conversion like they did for MK3, which sounded awful.

It seems almost everyone who has played the Amiga version has decent memories of it. I believe this rests solely in the superior sounds ingrained years ago deep in the brain! Nah, but seriously, I just remember that (kick-ass, as dreemer mentioned) character select theme resonating out of my Amiga. I listen to the theme now, and it's not quite the same as I remember. However...

I don't want to do that, for fear that the graphics will be all grainy and the sound far worse than I remember, essentially spoiling my memory! At the moment, seems everyone who played Amiga MK1 has great memories of it, and I don't think I've ever come across anyone who has the capability to check. I think Anyanka and Tmk have copies, just no amiga to play them on. So I think I'll prefer to leave my MK1 memories unblemished - cus it's almost inevitable that I'd be disappointed.

For a truely interesting MK music experience, fire up MK1 in your gamegear. Can't go wrong with just the Pit and Goro's Lair. If only I could get those tracks and put 'em in a vid...

I think arcade MK II sounds a lot better. Once again that is just my opinion. I think it sounds crisper, if you know what I mean.
