In MK2 Kung Lao kills Baraka by cutting him in half right down the center of his body. Then he some how is put together by staples that are present in MK2. Where are they now or what the hell happened?

That was from an unused bio from a MK Gold strategy guide. The same guide claimed Sindel and everyone in Edenia was killed in Shinnok's invasion.

Kung Lao never killed Baraka.

Because they were going to have him cut in half by Kung Lao, but dropped it at the last minute. The games never mention Baraka ever dying and you'll notice Baraka doesn't have the staples anymore.

Oh i get what your saying. Thats pretty gay, they shouldnt have left those staples in him in the gameplay from MK Gold if they were cutting that prt of the story

Actually, MK: Deception's Krypt seems to have confirmed Kung Lao did indeed kill Baraka, or at least attempt ot.

Go into the Krypt and check under "Production Art" for the piece called "Mortal Kombat Gold: Mileena and Baraka". Read the info inside and it will tell you that the staples held Baraka's body together.

I was gonna bring that up.

This is pure theory, but maybe the staples were there to keep Baraka's body together for the healing process, in the Tarkata way. Then, once Baraka's body was fully connected once more, the staples were removed.

That artwork, imo, does not prove that Baraka surviving Kung Lao's fatality actually happened. It's filed under "Production Art" in the Krypt, and we all know that production art is work in progress, not usually the finished idea.

An MKG strategy guide is the ONLY other source to mention this (although that version had it as Kung Lao having killed Baraka I think). We all know that this storyline did not make it into the final game, I beleive that the Krypt art is just another example of WIP for a classic game. Krypt artwork generally doesn't prove anything to be true anyway.

A lot of Krypt-only information is taken as fact, though. Such as the locations for the MK:D arenas that you can find in there. I don't think they would have included that information if it wasn't something they wanted to be seen as canon.

What's weird is that those alternate bios in the MKG guide fit the story more than the real ones. Like in those Cyrax was found by the Special Forces, which is what really happened to him. I think it may actually be possible that THOSE are the real bios and the ones in the game are the bios they didn't have time to change. Too bad we'll probably never know.

I wouldn't count something from the Krypt as fact if the impression they give is "This is a story we were GOING to use, but didnt" which is how I took the Baraka/staple thing, and pretty much anything goes with "concept art" is to be considered "concept story" (in other words, non-canon).

Here's a scan of the original strategy guide, anyway:
