Just wondering who all of you think is the coolest "rumored" character.

What I mean by that characters that were never actually in a game, playable or secret, but were meerly glitches/rumors. I'll give a brief description of each just to make sure everyone is famaliar with them, if you have any additions to this list, feel free to add them on.

Ermac: Yeah, I know he was in UMK3 and MKT, but he was the original glitch character. For the few who don't know about his origins, he was a glitch of Scorpion, he was the red 'ninja'. Displayed where Scorpion's name should have been, it read "ERror MACro". The capatilized letters are to show where his name came from.

Nimbus Terrafaux: A character that was said to be real, and not a glitch at all. He was supposably an African American kickboxer and he was to appear in MK1. Many fakes were made around the time of the rumor, which added alot of mystery, until they were proven to be false. Still, I've seen many people here who would like to see him in the future.

Skarlet: She's the female Ermac of MK2. A glitch of Kitana or Mileena, she was also a red tinted color. She was dubbed Skarlet by the fanbase, I think by a magazine, though I am not sure. The name "Skarlet" never appeared in MK2 exactly.

Tourch: Though, he eventually turned out to be Blaze, he was part of the MK2 Pit Background. He seemed to be having a battle with Liu Kang, a green Liu Kang though. Note to some of you, Tourch is NOT the Fire God from MKM, that character has no name that we know of.

Hornbuckle: Tourch's opponent in that background. Named after a person working with Midway (I think, not sure), most think he is just Liu Kang. But with the developments in Blaze's new storyline in MKDA, he could turn out to be a workman for the Dragon King. As I said, he is of a green tint.

Note: I am not going to include those rumored 'ninja' clones that were supposably in MKT. Pinklet, Blizzard, etc.. they had no real story behind them. As I said, post more if I happened to leave your favorite out.

you pretty much covered all the big ones..lol

i alwsys heard something about someone named red robin on mkII. cant remember where i red it.

also, "hornbuckle" isnt tinted green..his pants were..but thats probably what you meant..and i never heard that blaze is tourch. the "tourch" in the mkII back ground was only on fire from the waste up. i always figured it was because liu hit him with a fireball or something. but someone said that blaze's file name on mkda is tourch. but i read that they called him that due to the fantastic 4's "human tourch"...not the character in the pit 2.

Hmm... didn't Boon say that the one of the secret characters would have something to do with a background in MK2? I think I remember a poll about that on this site before the game actually came out. "Torch/Tourch" was on that list I think, thats why I always figured that he was indeed Blaze. Since Mokap obviously was not in any background, and yes, I meant Hornbuckle's pants, lol.

yes it was said that "one of them have ties to an mk2 background". that doesnt mean that they actually have to appear in the background itself. but, people are gonna beleivr what they want reguardless of what others think or say. tourch very well may be blaze, but until i hear boon him self actually say "blaze was tourch from the pit 2" then all i can do is wonder..lol. maybe in mk6, they'll update the mk history and tell how they came up with some of the characters.

but anyway, back to the topic, lol.

I remember when Mortal Kombat II was launched that many people try to free Sonya and Kano from the chains in Kahn's Arena.

The God Of Fire's name is Yu. The name is revealed in a novel by Jeff Rovin entitled simply Mortal Kombat. The other names of the elders are also included in the novel. Fujin of course is the God of Wind. P'an Ku is the God of Earth, and T'ien is the god of water.

I remember all of those rumored fighters from the Mortal Kombat games. Nimbus Terraufuaxx was supposedlly hidden in the Genesis version of MK1, but he wasn't. Ermac was supposed to be in the arcade game, and some actually had him, and some did not. Torch, which at that time people who played MKII here they called him Inferno, later turned out to be Blaze. Hornbuckle was not the Pit II Liu Kang look alike that I remember though. He was supposed to be in SNES MKII, and he was a yellow Liu Kang (the stripes). The green striped Liu Kang was Liu Kang's missing brother Chow Kang. Skarlett was a huge rumor where I live. Everyone swore to their life she was not only playable, but fightable, and I, like many others knew she was nothing more than a mere rumor. Kano Transformations? Sonya Transformatins? Both no. Kintaro morh? Yes, in a way. Noob Saibot playable in UMK3? Maybe. Choose Kano and hold B + HP + HK + LP + BLK. It is supposed to work on all wavenet machines, others yet to be confirmed. Have you found Rain in UMK3? I have. He is in the backround of the Graveyard. Walk all the way to the left until you can go no further. Rain is behind the stone building. He looks like a gravedigger except that some of his ninja outfit can be seen. Is Rain playable? Unknown. So many rumors in the games from past to present. What new rumors will appear. Only time will tell.

I dont have any clue where you heard that about Chow Kang... but I've never heard that before. That character in the MK2 Pit BG was dubbed 'Hornbuckle' and I am fairly positive of this.

Anyway, I remember another rumor I heard sometime ago before MKDA was released. There was something about one of Shang Tsung's shadow priests being a hidden character. I always thought one of those being a character would be an awesome idea, but it looks like that never became true for MKDA. Oh well, perhaps we could see one in the future.

Just so you know, Noob Saibot is playable in the WaveNet version of UMK3. Lucky Chicago bastards still have the wavenet machines. I've never heard of them being anywhere else.

this is probably the strangest rumored character that i don't think you guys have even heard of. maybe you did, but the chance is slim. i once heard that Sheeva was a playable character in mk2
she wore a blue outfit similar to her mk3 but with medalions. she also had a "c" shaped scar going down her face and if you high punched her too many times it would start to bleed and she would lose life slowly. if she died because of this she would be unplayable until the game was shut off.

stupid, but i heard it. i was young so i believed it too. so i like that one for a fake.

i have to say blaze, some one told em he was playable so me and my friend slways tried ways to get to him, heh my favorite that we had was you did the toasty fatality on the other player and he got to fight the guy in the green pants. ahhh those were the days...
i also remember hearing stuff about smoke, i thought he sounded so cool, i used to pretend i was him in like 1st grade, i would pick up some gravel and throw it at my friends and pretend i hit them with smoke...heh, i also used to carry around my mk strategy guide everywhere, even after my cat peed on it, im gonna go throw up now...

Ermac was easily the biggest rumored character. So many claiming they know how to fight him, seen him, etc. Rain for UMK3 was also pretty big. "u fight him every one in a million times after u beat da game i swear!"

I know that the following aren't 100% rumored characters, but to me the best are to me are:
When MK3 1st came out it was rumored that Cyrax was really scorpion in disguise. Since his mission was to kill sub-zero and it just so happeded that he was yellow and scorpion was missing. The other was when UMK3 came out you know the demo that is shows. Well at the time the ninja in white was thought of to be a character called ROCK since smoke was a cyber ninja and that ruled him out of being the dude in white. Of course we all found out later that it was human smoke. :.P

Red Ribon was an actuall fake, he never existed. There is another secret character in MKI for genesis besides Reptile, it's Sonya glowing green. Although it's a glitch, it is still there. I believe this is where the inspiration of the UMK3 Noob Saibot came from, Sonya would do the ring toss stance and shoot another sonya out at you and it basicly was scorpion's spear with a different animation. When she actually did the ring toss it froze you, she would get in front of you and go into the cannon ball spinning thing every character was famous for in the oringinal mk's only she spun in place and kicked you over and over, and I know here hand stand did something else, but to this day the maker's say it's just a glitch. Goto codes.ign.com to find out how to find it. Hornbuckle is actually a name found in the programming on MKII's arcade version's, probably cause it was Kintaro's original name. I've even seen a fake of Shang Tsung's 4th fatal on mkII where he turn's you to stone, I thought the his 3rd was a fake till I actually got it to work.

There are many characters like this, like "Raid-tile". Though, this glitch character actually has his own moves I believe. I think he had moves like spear, freeze, in-battle fatality, backwards lightning, backwards torpedo, and possibly other moves as well.
