It doesn't. The screen goes black when you do the fatality because the game makers didn't bother to finish the fatality. It would have needed new animation for the SPine dangling and they didn't bother making that.

sometimes, on megadrive, it crashes, nothing happens, for a long time.... and that to me, is it crashing..... (it also sucks how they didn't finish itfurious)

I think that they made the fatality this way cuz they wanted to do it so,not cuz they were lazy.

I think that we must compare Sub-Aero's fatality to Scorpion's UMK3 fatality (that one with the many scorpions caming out and the screen goes dark and they beat ya).
I think thats all it can be said bout that topic.

They needed to make animations like MK2 Head Rip. But they didnt bother because they were lazy =/
