First off i just want to say pardon my stupidity on these subjects, ive never really had the motivation to learn more about them until now. But how do you go about recording the input file in mame when playing an mk game to making it video that you can edit? Also what are some fairly simple or easy to pick -up editing software thats free or relatively inexpensive to edit video? Would windows media player edit? Just some general information to help me get going i would really appreciate. Im trying to make my own mk vid but not for public or anything just to mess around and see if i can make one. Thanks.

This is definately not stupidity. If anyone is born knowing how to turn Mame inputs into edittable video, they need to be studied extensively.

There are programs that let you record part of your computer screen to a video file. Camtasia is the one I've used. It works very well. I can record my input in mame, then set up Camtasia to record the Mame window and replay the input with Camtasia recording it. There are a bunch of programs that function like this, and even a version of mame (EK Mame) that can export directly to video so you don't need another program to do it, however I have not found a version of EK Mame in english so i didn't bother exploring it much.

I know Camtasia does a good job. And, it uses something called the Techsmith Codec to compress the video, and the resulting video is insanely high quality.

If you have Windows Movie Maker, you can import the video clips into that, try out some of their transitions and make some titles and export a finished video. As far as video edittors go it doesnt have a lot of features, but to see how the basics work it does a good job, and I think its a good place to start.

As far as better video edittors that are free or inexpensive, I don't know. I have been told that Pinnacle Studio 8 is good and I dont think its too expensive. I have used Adobe Premiere, and frankly I think its crap (Out of memory errors when I have 1 gig of RAM?). I get so annoyed at it that the last time I did video editting, it was all simple stuff so I just used Windows Movie Maker.

I hope this helps some. Video editting is fun.

Since that can be very annoying to do depending on your setup, it'd probably be easier to just download the audio clips. MK2KungBroken probably has all of them, so he might be able to provide.

I have virtually every sound clip from every classic MK game (only some from 4) just PM what you want.
