Deadly Alliance. OK, it's not perfect, but it still pisses all over Deception in most ways. Better storyline, more interesting cast of characters, less broken gameplay and cheapness, and tries to foucus on the fighting rather than Deception's mostly stupid extras.

MKD= Mortal Kombat Disappointment.

MKD does have more features, I can't deny that. But the game itself isn't very good, so no amount of extras can hide that. Imo, it's like polishing a turd, it's still a turd no matter how shiny it may look. And some of those, like Konquest, are a waste of space anyway.

deception and deadly alliance are two of he same games with different characters. deadly alliance actually tried to focus on what was going to happen in the deception story line. but i do like deception better just a little.

I prefer Deadly Alliance. Mostly because there are more characters in Deadly Alliance that I like. I like 12 of the Deadly Alliance, and the others I dont mind. Threre are only like 3 I hate in Deadly Alliance. Whereas with Deception, there are only like 8 characters I like and I hate 12 of them. the others are bareable.

Also Deadly Aliance was new and refreshing. The first real 3D MKGame, and the fighting styles and weapons were unique. They gave characters individuality. But then Deception comes along, with only a few improvements, and used the styles which individualised the MKDA characters........taking away both the individuality of MKDA characters and the MKD ones who got their styles. MKD wasn't really anything new.

Also the story was a BIG let down in Decpetion. The Deadly Alliance kill all of Earth's fighters and then Onaga ressurects them and makes them evil. yet nothing is said about them. nothing happens to them. Also, they built Kitana into every major plotline of the game, and just left her out. What a waste.

And i hate the Noob-Smoke thing. i think its lame. they should be seperate. Also, why weren't Sareena and Sektor added. Their stories from MK:TE led into Deception well, but nope they were left out.

I play MK:DA even more now than I used to, and rarely play Deception.

Overall I go wth MK:Deadly Alliance.

Deadly Alliance over Deception anyday, Deception literally make me sick because it could had been a better game, but I won't go into that because whats done is done and also the problems in the game and not to mention some cheap ass rip-off characters will only make my blood goes up.

I'll go for Deception. Pissing people off when you knock them into a death trap is just too fun. Especially when you are like 5 seconds into the match. The gameplay is less "sacred" to me than UMK3 so I can play like a cheap bastard and not really feel bad about it (death traps in UMK3 would have been annoying).

I wish they let you stab the guy with your weapon like in Deadly Alliance though. The impale was awesome, I was pissed when they took it out.

Depends what you're looking for. Deception is 10x more broke than Deadly Alliance. Throws in deadly alliance don't launch, don't glitch combo, are blockable and usually do about 5% damage and only certain moves (not plants) would give you a free throw. In Deception, glitch throws basically mean doom, 30% minimum damage in the middle of the stage when you HAVE breakers. If you don't, you're basically screwed. Noob Smoke and Tanya's glitch combo only work in the corner, but since you get so many free throws off moves, they're unblockable and the throw sends you so far (about 3 body lengths far) you'll be near a corner fairly soon. This is one of the only real difference between Deception and Deadly Alliance. The problem is that the overpowerdness of throws has ruined Deception gameplay wise (if you're a competitive player of course).

The other major dfifference is combos. In Deadly Alliance, combos were practically impossible because juggles were ended on the 3rd hit. This makes you more reliant on ground combos, which are guaranteed because of no breakers, but ultimately it just isn't as satisfying for me. I loved Deception for a while cuz of it's combos, and Deadly Alliance just simply didn't have that for me and that's why I liked Deception better.

Deadly Alliance gives you crappy combos, an awfully boring konquest mode and semi-broken gameplay.

Deception gives you incredible combos, lots more features you couldn't give 2 shits about and rediculously broken gameplay.

Personally, I'd just wait for Soul Calibur 3 to come out.

actually deception is easier to handle than deadly alliance... deadly alliance was more of an introduction to deception. kinda a warm up if i could put it in a better way. however same gameplay, same type of game. how could you choose a favorite?

I think Deception is better because of Puzzle and Chess modes, more characters, A better Konquest mode, and more Interactive stages.

Deadly Alliance all the way:
- Every new character was more original than most new MK characters usually are. Even the female subby idea of Frost was done well. (The only one I didnt like was Hsu Hao)
- Arenas were visually magnificently even if they werent that interactive
- Every revamped character concept was done quite well (except Sonya's costume and Reptile's crocodile-look)
- And even if the fighting engine wasn't the greatest, it was a good step away from what they had in MK4
- Fatalities were there: good concepts that reminded me of the good old MK2 fatality days, but they didnt take the spot-light away from the actual fighting.
- They brought back test your might!

Deception was a failed attempt at MK:DA v1.5 w/ useless extras

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance

PRO:
-less broken gameplay
-better characters and natural looking events ( the background+character impression)
-more focus on actual fighting
-shock value for being new to previous sequels
-well devised storyline with drama (undefeatable army, Shang+Quan)
-sub boss design: Moloch was menacing like MK1 Goro.

CONTRA:
-either way, there could have been more fatalities
-the arenas. The walls were kinda advantageous for the opponent.
-slightly unequal characters (Cyrax was almost a joke for beginners to use)
- the Krypt was full with unecessary things. More content and reason plz!

Mortal Kombat Deception

PRO:
-highly climatic end and start for the Dragon King reign (heroes killed)
-reasonable though unexploited retconnages (Cage for example)
-stylish new characters without unfitting adds and odds.
-better fatalities
-deathtraps, the finishing move content was pushed to it's limits
-Konquest as being there
-Chess Kombat
-the Dragon Kings menace was unapparent to most o the warriors save for Raiden and Shujinko.

CONTRA:
-the story looses coherence after the intro.
-Konquest and it's content was ridiculous, could have been made serious.
-incredibly faulty fighting engine (I don't have the years to explain) ***
-potentialy good character concepts wrecked with illogical endings and purposes, or in Kobras case, looks. (Dairou, Hotaru, Darrius, Kobra).
-except chess, the mini games should have been made more simple and should have been the least of all concern for Midway.
-the Deadly Aliance suddenly dies
-MAJOR PLOTLINE F**KUP: the completely missed the Undefeatable Army line when making the game. A few soldiers were blown away by Raiden, but where are the remaining hundreds????
-Onagas sick scream when you fight him. Made him look like an imbecile.
