Because it's not just about PLAYING the game. It's about the cool factor of owning it. Playing a game on MAME is neat, but it's a lot better to actually have a machine in your house to play.

I am looking for a UMK3 machine too. I have the board and marquee and can install it in my MK4 to play it, but I want the dedicated cabinet to complete the collection. They're on Ebay all the time but they're always really crappy conversions.

You're probably not going to find shipping under $250. Those machines weigh a ton.

You can find them here on Ebay:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&st;=2&SortProperty;=MetaEndSort&query;=mortal+kombat+&ht;=1&currdisp;=2&itemtimedisp;=1&category1;=13713&combine;=y&from;=R9

The MK3 cabinets are the hardest to find out of the series. Most people just converted their MK II cabs to 3's. I believe there is an MK II dedicated cab in NY on ebay now. I would just buy that and buy the Ultimate board. MK II is by far the best so have that cab. In my opinion if you are a huge MK fan you MUST have the dedicated cabinet instead of a converted one.

I own a dedicated MK I, II, and 4 (with Ultimate in it now)

I will beat anyone in the arcade series.
