If it's MKT for PSX, the gameplay is almost identical, it's just that MKT has new characters that are broken and moves for UMK3 characters that are broken added on. Also, MKT is faster than UMK3.

If it's MKT for N64, the gameplay is pretty different and UMK3 for the arcade is a lot better.

trust me, you are better off with MKT unless your friends that use some characters Inf combos otherwise, there is no point in getting UMK3 if you have MKT. Its pretty much the same game with no loading times and less charachters.

If you are talking UMK3 for SNES, stay far away. That game is a terrible mess. Any version of MKT is vastly better.

All MK1 ports were terrible except for the Amiga.

UMK3 isn't any better than MKT, the only advantage to UMK3 is that the bosses aren't playable so you don't have to deal with idiots that spam Motaro's throw if you play against irritating people

You should get MKII for the SNES if you want an MK for the SNES. What that that game lacks in characters it makes up for in fatalitys, special attacks and awesomeness. It's my favorite of the 2-D MK games.

Your best bet for a good MK1 experience outside the arcade is MK:Deception Collecters Edition. It has the best MK1 port of any console imo.

SNES version has a really changed gameplay in comparison to the Arcade MK1. Also, it lacks blood, therefore most of the Fatalities are toned down. Check this out to see it for yourself.

As for the best MK1, I'd rather choose MK:D Kollector's Edition version (like Mystika), PC MAT one or even the original PC conversion. All of them definitely better than Amiga's. Not to mention MAME of course wink

Not to mention allll the other broken stuff besides the bosses in MKT, lol.

Like Noob and Rain. MK2 Kung Lao's ridiculous damage, Baraka's ridiculous damage, even MK2 Jax is a monster because of the increased damage. MK3 Kung Lao's spin now moves which is nice and broken.

I am sure Shinnok-fan64 could care less how broke the game is, it ain't like he would use them anyway, Just to let you know. (not trying to be an ass) but yeah, you should get either get MK1 for either gens or ps2

He did fine. It was the MK team's choice to leave the ballbreaker out, and they're the ones who told him what to do. It's not like he designed Cage or anything.

If anyone has MKTrilogy other than UMK3, they are better off keeping MKT. The gameplay is the same to me, except MKT may be a little more intense.
Besides, I can't stand playing the old MKs' without Rain, or Noob Saibot already available.

How so? Even though the game has its problems with being broken, they pretty much have the same gameplay.
unless your talking about the crappy N64 version.

It has basically the same engine. But when you are talking gameplay, there's more to it than that. MKT has a lot of abuseable moves, and broken characters that contribute to it's gameplay not being as good.

The game just can't be played at the same quality because of how broken it is. That goes for PSX and even moreso for N64.

It's a dig on the shallowness that is MK2.
